Vergeltungswaffe got a reaction from Rinaldi in VK 16,02 Leopard
Making things that people will buy isn't a waste of time for BFC.

I like France '40, but I would rather have reasonable late war what ifs (E-25,50,75, M29/34, Black Prince, IS-3, etc) in a heartbeat.

BFC would certainly have the marketing numbers, but I suspect very late war would sell better than very early.

You guys should also give Blue vs AI a go. I was not even going to bother doing Red AI plans as I thought playing as the defender in this scenario would be boring but when I did play as Blue I had one of the most exciting games I have ever played. The garrison commander was literally the only man still standing when the reinforcements arrived! It was like being in the Alamo or at Rorke's Drift.

Sigh. Not that right wing macho fantasy of armed insurrection, again.  I can't recall the NRA coming out and championing their pet cause of citizens taking up arms to fight government oppression following the recent police shootings at Ferguson. I guess that right to insurrection is *selective*. Only applies to ranchers grazing on public lands.

Vergeltungswaffe reacted to George MC in Rolling Thunder (demo scenario)
This is one of the scenarios contained in the recently released demo.
    http://www.thefewgoodmen.com/tsd3/uncategorized/cmbs-rolling-thunder/
    About the scenario
This scenario recreates a US company team attack against a Russian Forward Security Element or FSE. A Russian FSE is a usually a reinforced company sent forward of the regimental axis when the threat is weak but more commonly sent ahead of a first echelon battalion or battalion operating away from the main body. Motorized rifle companies are often used in this role, even in tank units.
Both sides have a fairly ‘typical’ OOB (organisation, units and vehicles) plus supporting arms (air assets, anti-aircraft assets and artillery) for the missions they have been tasked with. As such this scenario serves as a useful introduction to commanding a modern combined arms unit at the company level.
This scenario was originally designed to be played first and foremost from the perspective of the US side against the Russian AI. It is playable head to head (H2H) but has not been playtested for balance in this regard. It is playable as Russian vs US AI, although in the attack the AI can't dismount and remount infantry, so that can hamper it a wee bit. Still the US AI plans should give you a tactical workout.
There are three distinct Russian AI plans and two distinct US AI plans – thus allowing some level of re-playability.
    How difficult is the scenario?
As stated this scenario is really designed to be played as US attacking Russian AI (or possible H2H). The designers intent is that a ‘good’ player i.e. a player used to the Combat Mission game engine and practiced in using modern core combined arms tactics would find this fun but not over the top challenging. A new player i.e. unpractised in either modern or Combat Mission should be able to play this (TOP TIP – make liberal use of the ‘save game’ option – so you can rewind if things go horribly wrong) – and most likely at least pull a draw. So bottom line is experienced players will most likely find it fun but straightforward, less experienced might find it challenging initially but soon becoming easier. Once the US side make it over the reverse slope position they have a very good chance of winning as the fire-power of a US mech company team is pretty immense!

I modded the us/brit/syrian uniforms for CMSF but the Syrians were made into a made up country because I wanted to use the SLA(?) camo used in Arma.

I didn't release them however and now they are tucked away on a backup drive somewhere. I didn't mod CMA apart from the effects.

CMSF and CMA aren't on my PC anymore, I found I missed too many of the new features of the WW2/BS titles. Looking forward to SF2 though, whenever it turns up.

All this angst over the OP's  test results without anyone questioning if maybe the OP's test was complete crap?

I set up a test that matches the OP's description and ran it 20 times. Results:

    M1A2 spots first: 6
    T-90AM spots first: 13
    1 tie

    This is highly speculative.

Do you have anything else than your subjective perception to support this claim?

The high probability of the APS shooting down incoming Kh-29 missiles and other heavy AT missiles was recently confirmed as a bug by the devs and will be fixed in 1.02. But keep in mind this affects all heavy missiles from fixed and rotary wing aircraft that are not top-attack capable, not only the russians. I think (but i am not sure) that the US F-15s/F-16s in game can be equipped with Maverik AT missiles, so these should be affected as well.

Isnt it like that already? In a Meeting Engagement QB i can buy a company of Typical quality T-90s and a company of BMPs while US can only buy a force of 1 Typical M1A2 platoon and 2 platoons of Bradley infantry.

Quoted because I am just that worth quoting:

We keep acting like there's tiny little digital mens in the tank, and their behavior is largely regulated by tiny digital eyes and brains, when in reality it's a whole mess of numbers and systems that are trying to replicate inherently chaotic, non-system results.

    That said:

    1. The T-90 in a treeline will be as obvious as it would be in the open with thermals.
    2. T-90AM optics are still pretty "Eh."  The engagement range you selected is beyond the range of the Cathrine FC to be able to tell a M1 and a BMP-2 apart, but well within the M1's ability to tell you if the commander is out of the hatch and wearing sunglasses or not.
    3. The GSR on the Russian vehicles sees really well through fog, and dark, but has a lot of problems with pretty much anything else. Trees, piles of trash on the ground, buildings, exposed rock faces, the target even being partially masked by terrain can all result in a "something is there!" but not a confirmed target*

So basically this is sounding like someone is rageful their Russian stuff is performing like Russian stuff performs.

*GSR is best used as a sort of tripwire, like it's your first warning something is there, but generally ground mounted radars are best to let you know where you look, vs the be all end all of spotting

TEST:    T-90am (elite, undisturbed, standing still in a tree line, clear weather, day) vs  M1A2 (veteran, moving in open field, 2.5-3 km away)   (number of tries: 10. Map: Death Valley).   ---------------------------   Well, despite of all conditions above and CLEAR LOS, T-90 almost never discovers M1A2 first! Even more, in plenty of times the T-90 does not see the damn muzzle flash after m1 starts shooting!   Logically thinking, even with only binoculars you cannot miss an incoming and shooting tank in  open field, not speaking about more sophisticated tank optics.     Moreover,     Tank destroyer 9p157-2 Krizantema-S with millimeter-wave external RADAR built especially to  detect armored objects(!!) in all weather and smoke, is blind just like T-90. Always getting  killed by (?) signs from open field 3 km away.      Same for recon vehilce BRM-3K which has radar as well. Not mentioning various BMPs that somehow manages to detect enemy infantry in woods better than  detecting IFV  in open 100 meters ahead.     CMBO was great long time ago. CMBB was good. CMSF is ****    But CM Black Sea is a funny Super Mario game, not a "tactical simulator" as promised.

Vergeltungswaffe reacted to John Kettler in Alarm! YT's having a major breakdown or has KILLED all vid audio!
Just last night, I was watching a bunch of real world goodies pertinent to CMBS and had excellent audio. A short time ago, I watched TV programs online. That was fine, too. But in looking at an array of things on YT just now, nothing has audio. It's all got the dread "X" on the speaker image. I thoroughly checked at 3:30 AM (3:42 AM, 03/14/15 where I am presently) to make sure my sound was on and volume adequate.

T-90 (in Russian)  A tremendous vid, may I add? Not a sound.

Dad used to crack wise about easy college courses, such as Basket Weaving and Canoe Tilting, rather than Engineering. Guess what? The audio there doesn't work, either.

I don't know what's going on or why, but I absolutely hate this and am concerned this is some insane new YT policy. If so, someone needs to replace YT. Stat.

Vergeltungswaffe reacted to panzersaurkrautwerfer in T-90 tank documentary (2014 in Russian)
The T-90A in its current incarnation is...basically the ultimate T-72.  It is a good tank, compares well to many mid-90's tanks.  However:

    1. It still has issues with the autoloader effectively limiting the length of main gun rounds which ensures it will have inferior conventional gun performance compared to similar western guns.
    2. The armor array heavily leans on which ERA is equipped.  Newer ERA like Relikit or whatever it is still offers some good performance, but the majority of it is kontakt of various vintages, which largely has been surpassed by modern AT systems.  The base armor array under the ERA is not effective against most threat systems.
    3. Russian optical systems are based on a French downgrade system.  This is not a positive sign. It also means while it has hypothetical stand-off capabilities with the through the gun ATGM, it will not be as able to leverage that range because it does not have the systems to readily acquire targets in battlefield conditions at that 4 KM+ distance.
    4. As is common with Russian vehicles, it has packed a lot of stuff into a tight space.  Any penetration stands a fair chance at causing either loss of vehicle or at the least mission kill level damage.
    5. While the commander has his own optic, it is not as capable as western CITV style systems.
    6. As with most Russian vehicles, god help you if you're tall.  Even if  you're small crew comfort is limited, which detracts from being able to conduct long duration operations (such as the US march to Baghdad in 2003).

To the positive end of things:

    1. It is fairly cheap for what you get.  You should not expect it to perform miracles, but if you're India and you're staring down the finest Chinese export tanks from Pakistan, it is a very potent tank.
    2. While it is not magically more reliable, it is however designed to be repaired and maintained by a much lower standard of maintenance.  This should not be confused with better readiness (see the various Arab military forces and how their Russian hardware is broken as often as the western stuff) but the "replace the whole unit and put in a new one" design is well suited to forces that lack a large pool of mechanics.
    3. It is quite light for its performance, and its small size has its advantages.  While disastrous in a penetration, it does mean that it is a smaller target, and better able to cross bridges and somesuch.
    4. It can hypothetically scale protection with ERA packages, which is to say unlike western tanks, which need depot level work at the least to upgrade their armor (see the M1A1 to M1A1HA conversions in Kuwait 1991 for a good example), mounting better ERA blocks is much easier as long as the blocks are similar to the previous generation.
    5. Respectable firepower.  While it does not stack up to western MBTs, it does hold its own against peer tanks, and there isn't much short of a western MBT that it cannot defeat through firepower

It's not a bad tank, there's just a false understanding that it is a one for one peer for western tanks, when the reality is that the current generation of in-service T-90s lag somewhat behind the other top tier tanks.

I have been working on a Donetz map for a while. It is a huge work being 2400 x 3800 meters. Since the amount of woods and houses might be too heavy for normal computers, the size might have to be reduced. I have not decided yet if it has to be done. Anyway it far from being finished being still a WIP map.

The following pictures are shoiwing the airport runways, traffic contro tower and the terminal. All have been damaged. The final picture is showing tghe outskirts of Donetz not far away from the airport, right after the raitracks.

I might release a smaller scenario dealing with the combat around and in the airport before the larger one I would like to do,

Coming Soon - Colonel Nosov's March on Germany - an 18 scenario campaign for CMRT (Allies vs AI).

All battles are in playtest or AI Tweaking mode, every scenario will have at least three AI plans...

    Core Units are as follows:
    22nd Motorized Rifle Brigade
HQ - Lt. Col. Nosov   2IC - Major Bebchuk   Tank Plt. HQ - Capt Yeltson   1 Co Hq - 2nd Lt. Lachkov   2 Co HQ - 2nd Lt.  Obolensky   3 Co HQ - 2nd Lt.  Repin   MG Co HQ - 2nd Lt. Ruchkin   Mortar Bat HQ - 2nd Lt. Dudnik   4th Bat HQ - 2nd Lt. Arshavin Scenarios basically contain a company from above with attachments, I would say most are small to medium in size and range from 50-90 minutes. See attached sample PDF Manual for area and flowchart of battles.

Here is a small video trailer-

    https://youtu.be/ccqxWqvldrs

After release this will be followed up with an Axis vs AI Campaign and also all 18 Scenarios in a Battle Pack modified for H2H play...

I still could use a play tester or two, you can contact me at my website below...

I've finally fully upgraded my CM:BN game and I, naturally, just had to update my UI one final time.
Simply 'updating' got out of hand rather quickly and we're now looking at a complete overhaul to bring the entire UI up to 'Red Thunder UI' standards.

There are still several behind-the-scene elements to tackle, but here's a preview of what's coming (click the pic for the original, much less blurry, image).

By the way, I could still use one more tester! Who's game?
