Macisle got a reaction from waclaw in The CM Theater thread! post cinematic RT vids here.
Here is a quick (err--not cinematic) video lark: thirteen minutes of turn-based play threaded together continuously from a single camera angle. It shows Phase I of a town assault (Huge SP QB Probe with a 20% advantage to the Germans). I’ve got a battalion of 43 Soviet infantry (ATRs, ATGs, and some MGs stripped), supported by two companies of T-34/76s, arty and some AA units. The Germans have a Grenadier battalion, supported by two Tigers, a company of 50mm ATGs, plentiful arty and two Stukas. All units are Typical.

Before I started saving the replays, the Stukas took out most of a platoon of my infantry in the setup zone. The MG team charging in the advance on my left flank is doing so because its MG was knocked out earlier. And, yes, there are a few friendly fire incidents with my tanks. I misjudged the elevation and they hit the trees near my troops a couple of times.

    Enjoy!

Well, you specificly mentioned the Hide Command, didn´t you?

So why shouldn´t LukeFF be allowed to reply to that part of your comment?

You may have some very valid points and complaints about how CM is working, Wiggum (that is often hard for me to judge). But in my opinion, your very aggressive tone and attitude often disqualifies you from the discussion. Try acting a little more civil - perhaps you'll then get more constructive responses to your complaints.

I told you that in another thread.

You would not like what you would hear. (But you keep wanting to live in fantasy land as to where these guys are going.)

Thanks Steve for posting the update and letting us know what the present plans are for the near future.

I look forward to the added content and additional items to come my way - I for one know you guys are working hard. Thanks

But with Upgrade 4.0 still using the outdated CMx2 engine i doubt we will see much improvement in key areas.
Instead on focusing on keeping the old car driving through the addition of a new oil filter, a spoiler and new tires it would be time to move on and invest into a new car.
If money or know-how is the problem...well there is kickstarter, i think we all would support you.

Another thing i dont like is that we now have it Official, the bulge game will only include "minor" changes.
No new trench/foxhole system. No significant gameplay enhancements, no fix for long standing technical issues.

    Sorry, iam disappointed !
(But thanks for the heads-up Steve)

    Wiggum15,

A small piece of advice. It's free, so it's worth exactly what you value it. You ask a lot of questions, but you cloak them in criticisms. Some criticism is constructive. Yours is not.

A point: "Then why dont they hire new people with better skills ?" (That's from you, just a few posts up.) I don't care about the rationale behind the statement, just the statement per se.

    - You are on a forum paid for by BFC. They are a small company. The money to support this forum is money which is not going to get a muffler replaced. It is money which is not going to replace that old furniture they got when they got married. It is money which is not going to buy a better Christmas gift for their daughter. It is money, literally, out of their pocket.
    - Other companies support forums. Other companies have a far greater budget. Yes, $1,000 is valued differently. Ford (or Daimler) would think nothing of a $1,000 expenditure. How about you?
    - You are a guest. As am I. If I went on Intel's forums and demanded that they use AMD cpu's, I would (probably) be banned. Rightfully. As a guest in someone's home I act with deference and civility to my host. But maybe my concept of civility differs from yours.
    - Your statement, above, presupposes several insulting assumptions.
-- BFC doesn't have sufficient skill. There are, what, six BFC employees? Just name them and state they are incapable of creating a game the way it should be done. Your passive aggressiveness would at least transcend to outright aggressiveness. It would be more honest that way.
-- Other people do have the right skill. ("You can't do it, but someone else can." That's more insulting than just saying "you can't do it.")
-- BFC (again, just name the decision makers; it's simpler) is too ignorant to recognize the need to hire other people.
-- BFC is too cheap to hire other people with better skills. The assumption is that the budget is there, BFC is just hording the money.
-- Other people with those skills exist (that is a foundation of your initial insult)
-- Your idea of how a game should be created is better than BFC's idea
-- Your idea of how to run a game company is better than BFC's idea

Now, that's a pretty surface level dissection of your insult. I, for one, do not take anything you write seriously.

I suggest, again for free, that you consider criticisms a bit more before you make them. It is easy to criticize that which you have no idea how to do. That demeans you, as your posts here have done. If you had created a company and successfully released several games, your criticisms, as insultingly as they are delivered, would have some validity. As it is, they have no validity and are merely insulting.

Lacroix, how do you think privately owned businesses work? Yes, you pay for their gas. Or did you think that the money sent to them in exchange for their games they make goes to someone else? That money is called "income". It pays "salaries". Salaries enable people to buy gas.

And this is why I find your posts to utterly lack any credence.

    Aurelius,

Please re-read my post. Am I defending BFC? Perhaps. I was trying to let Wiggum15 know why his posts don't carry any weight.

Am I mad if someone calls me a fanboy? Not at all.

Am I a fanboy? Maybe you think so.

    Shrug.

As a counterpoint, look at Lacroix's post, just above. He quotes me and adds a "lol". Why? Because he does not have a rational counterargument. Lacroix is another one to whom I give no credence. His posting history has caused this. Criticism is acceptable, even desirable to improve the game. The negativity expressed by several, like Wiggum15 and Lacroix is counterproductive.

Back to your point, Aurelius.  I will not stand by silently when I see posts which are counterfactual. I try to reply to posts with the same level of respect and maturity as they are made. Look up my posting history. Find where I say this game cannot be improved. Find where I do not support ideas to improve the game. There is a world of difference between trying to improve something and just tearing it down. Yes, this forum can get defensive against inflammatory posts. However, this forum also allows those inflammatory posts...for the most part.

Irrational, immature, insulting, and inflammatory posts should not be accepted. Defending BFC? No. I am defending a game system I enjoy. I will not passively watch a few malcontents poison a forum without pointing out their falsehoods and distortions.

    Regards,
    Ken

Edited to add: As a beautiful counterpoint to everything Wiggum15, Lacroix, et al., have posted, look at this: http://community.battlefront.com/topic/119875-worrying-60mm-mortar-behavior/page-1

We have a criticism of behavior which is specific and it includes what behavior was expected. A member of BFC's team checks it, finds it has merit, and posts an internal report about it. And then provides feedback to the OP about it. This is just one of hundreds of threads which prove how distorted are the statements posted by Wiggum15 et alia.

Sure GTOS and other games have a stuff that CM doesn't have, and some stuff they do better. But OVER ALL, CMx2 beats them all hands down. As an example you cant be lacking in infantry combat the way GTOS does and take on CM. Doesnt matter if you have flares for night fighting. Sure its a nice edition that I hope we will see in CM one day but its not a game breaker that unrealistic/undetailed infantry combat is. The realism and ToEs and ToOs CM has is unrivaled and with the editor you can pretty much portray any battle.

CM is not perfect and it is ever evolving. Saying it has not had progress for 8 years is just ignorant and statements like that will naturally be challenged.

Well, I haven't played GTOS but judging from the screenshots, I like CMx2's graphics better.

GTOS graphics seem to be the kind that has plagued gaming for a long time...Way too much filtering and processing, everything has this "Made out of plastic Call Of Duty -esque" vibe.

Even if CMx2 graphics are wee clunky, atleast they attempt to look realistic with the bright colours and lighting.

Wiggum15 - are you at all capable of rationale and mature debate? From your previous posts it does appear as if you are going out your way to appear both irrational and immature. TBH your attitude and the way you interact with other posters comes across as hostile and combative. You wonder why other posters then react in the way you do?

I really think they should make the Soviet AT hand grenades be shown like rifle AT grenades and PFs - with icons and numbers in the special equipment section of the unit info. It would be very helpful to the player and adds a coolness factor that enhances the game experience. It's always been a headscratcher as to why they weren't done that way from the beginning.

That pic was taken in the early days of CMRT using the Aris smoke mod. Once it came out, I switched to Vein's complete effects package and have stayed with that since. IMO, the Aris mod looks quite good for still pics, but in motion/when playing, Vein's smoke looks more natural.

I swear to god simply burning every dollar, ounce of construction material, all military equipment given to the Iraqis in a giant pit would be a less wasteful use than what the Iraqis have done with it.

    Re: Saddam's army

Here's more or less how the cycle went:

US military plans on having Iraqi army and police intact to help maintain security.

Bremmer half reads a book on occupying Germany. Decides zero baathists are to be in new government, and being baathist is pretty much something that happened if you bought a pack of gum this is bad.

All the people with guns and idea how to use them and a mild antipathy to Shi'a and US are now unemployed. Results predictable.

Actual sunni militants show up. Start killing lots of everyone. Former saddam era police and military have second thoughts. Start killing sunni militants.

US military starts finding dead terrorists. Puts two and two together. Offers to pay these former sunni terrorists to kill present terrorists. Results are actually pretty great. Goodwill between former terrorists and US restored.

US gets ready to leave. Offers to continue paying former terrorists but through Iraqi government. Hashes out deal to find employment or job training for former terrorists.

Iraqi government pockets the money. Arrests former terrorists more or less at random. Won't hire the ones it was supposed to.

Sunnis become re alienated and turn to anyone who offers to put shia heads on pikes. Enter ISIS.

Basically these former Saddam guys were more or less bought off. Basically tigers in a zoo, dangerous, but not so much as long as you fed them and kept the gates closed. Iraqi shia government ate the tiger food and sold the gate in turkey to pay for gay porn. Results predictable.

    Ref: COL Reese

I was on the ground when he wrote that. His status reports were all like that just most of them didn't have distro off of SIPR. we used to read the really funny ones out loud.

Hes totally right top to bottom left to right. But even as broken as the Iraqi army was in 2010, if it just kept being that level of broken in 2014 it'd have been okay.

But yeah. Iraqis are the sorts to prove that you were wrong about having hit rock bottom.
