As I was going through militaristic russian social network channels to report and hopefully shutdown - I found that the narrative now shifts towards the following, quoting one example:
"it's now obvious that a special military operation won't be a quick one to even the most stubborn of us - so we must prepare to shift our peaceful economics to a full wartime mode and prepare to mobilize all our resources to bring peace to Ukraine"
So that martial law and possible mobilization rumour looks to be less and less of a rumour

Sometimes the bigger ones are better as they force you to take your time, or at least should.
Take your time with the game. No need to hurry through. Look over the battlefield, get down to ground level to get a good idea of the terrain and plan your moves. It takes time and practice, usually lots of both...😀

I am a retiree myself and it is beyond me why he doesn't do what I do. Sit behind my PC and play Combat Mission. @Vet 0369 Ukraine agreement of 1994 in which they all agreed that the Ukraine give up their Soviet arsenal of nuclear weapons. Both Russia and the USA agreed to protect the Ukraine against foreign invaders. I suppose Russia is not regarded as a foreign invader. However, if the USA honored their agreement by assisting with boots on the grounds they would certainly be regarded by Putin as foreign invaders. Down in Oz I wonder at times how much our alliance is worth if it comes down to the nitty gritty. The twentieth century was known as the American century I am afraid the twenty-first century won't be.  Regards I enjoyed my vacation in the USA two years ago indeed friendly people I just watch all of it with sadness not with smugness like some CNN commentators. About Tucker Carlson, I won't dignify myself to comment on.

That happens too, but to Ukrainians this is a war of survival. Russians didn't come to just enforce some geopolitical decisions, they came to "solve a Ukrainian question" - remember?
The increasing amount of violence against civilian population only enrages people and makes the fuse very very short when it comes to anyone who is OK with russians cluster bombing hospitals and nurseries.
And that's what they do without entering the city. Try imagining the massacre e.g. Kharkiv or Mariupol would face if any one of those surrenders.
Better to shoot one traitor than see russians murder thousands in that very town unopposed.

Low morale. You were told you are a part of a Chosen One ethnicity that can't be defeated and Ukrainians are nothing but lowly farmers - but you just saw half of the previous guys returning in body bags / not returning at all (or smell that mobile crematorium working day and night) - and then you are being send in there, see the tank crew nearby getting grilled on that very grill they installed by the NLAW, while your old soviet BMP runs out of fuel due to Bayraktars from another era ****ing up your fuel convoy - while your analog radio can't reach command and your food supply is 7 years past expiration date - so you only think "screw you guys, I'm going home".

I don't think the Russians can keep this up for six more days, much less weeks. There is a point of epic failure that is just unrecoverable. And high level AA assets being abandoned in a field to be set on fire by peasants with a can of gas and a match is pretty close to that point. 

Not that 40km convoy coming in from Belorus in direction of Kyiv. This one is north of Cherson in the south of Ukraine. Maybe propaganda. We will see...

Thank you Steve and BFCElvis for letting this thread go on, and your reasonable moderation policy.  Thank you as well Steve for the insightful commentary; I find it a very useful and informed source of information -Your background in Soviet and Russian military history and the time spent beforehand in scoping out the backstory around CMBS which has turned out to be prescient.  Thank you as well for the countless hours of enjoyment I've had over the years playing your creations!
To the contributers -thank you as well for the information and commentary.  It makes for a good sanity check against the other sources of information that bounce around out there.
To Haiduk -I wish you all the best for success and safety in defending against this onslaught driven by one man whose actions right now do not seem rationale
To the people of Ukraine: Slava Ukraini!
To the people of the rest of the world -keep pressure on your governments to continue to help Ukraine with meaningul aid and punish Russia till they withdraw.
Finally to the people of Russia: I hope that Vladamir Putin's days as your leader are short and that you have a real democratic opening.  I think the west bears no ill will to Russian people.  I think most of the world would welcome a democratic and economically thriving Russia.

Hi everyone. Nikita here.
I'm still in Crimea. I have to be careful with every word, especially after being detained on 24th by police and FSB, so I will be brief. I am literally shaking as I type due to adrenaline, but we all need to be strong these days.
1) Ukraine will be free. The bastards will fail. I can clearly see it.
2) We witness an insane amount of heroism. Which is truly inspiring.
3) Thanks to Steve and other people from here who were kind to me in the past and took time and patience to communicate with me. It made a lot of difference in the end and made me a person who I am today.
