  1. From the "Summary of Battlefront Game projects March 2011" thread. http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?t=95267&highlight=Battle+Pack More fun reading. http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?t=94339
  2. You are correct in your observations. The pixeltroops do bunch together too tight. Closer than one would expect. But this is due to inherent limitations to the game. Im not as well versed, but it has something to do with the tiles and how the troops are tied to them. One side effect of this is the arty is toned down. If a 155mm HE shell explodes in an airburst directly overhead and all troopers do not die, it is, in effect, an attempt to simulate how the troops are suppose to be properly dispersed. (As I have seen in CMSF)
  3. In CMSF the GUI will tell you how much and what type of ammo there is. There is an actual line item of each type of ammo: 5.56.................500 7.62.................1k 40mm HEDP.......40 40mm HE..........30 66mm................3 84mm................4 Does CMBN do this as well? The problem however is it does not give the name of the weapon of intended use (if at all). It is more short hand. For instance for the LAW it is "66mm", the AT4 is "84mm". Also there is no differentiation between the 40mm grenade launcher ammo for the M203 and the 40mm ammo for the Heckler and Koch and Mk19 type grenade launchers (other than 40mm PPHE, which is a given if you know what it is). There is no clarification until you try to actually "acquire" the ammo (except in the case of the 40mm). It's through trial and error and research that I had to figure that out. That being said there are graphic depictions in the window to the left of where the line items are, in the case of the LAWs and AT4s. Same goes for Marine's SMAW and Syrian RPGs. Can anyone comment on this? Is CMBN pretty much the same? Are the ammo counts as ambiguous?
  4. I've had the same HP laptop for a year and a half now. Runs Win7. I bought it so I could play CMSF on the go. I use Crap Cleaner and Microsoft's Security Essentials. I'm online all the time. I download a lot of stuff. Granted, I don't use it professionally. I pretty much only use iTunes to update my phone and edit short videos on windows movie maker. I have a few freeware programs. I've had very few issues. What I did have came and went. My computer really does not seem to have lost much in the way of performance. It really does not seem any slower. Maybe it has slowed slightly. It's definitely far and above my last Vista laptop. It was slower than molasses in January. I remember Win95, 98 and XP. I am trying to forget Vista. XP was the better of 95, 98 and Vista. Win7 is by far the best of all of them IMHO.
  5. I have not seen anyone answer to this yet: I have not found the quote yet, but, I seem to recall in a post not too long ago that air support was treated in a way similar to preparatory bombardment. You may call in air support only during the first turn, or in the setup phase. I'm not sure exactly which. But I do not believe it is handled the same way as it is in CMSF where you call in air strikes at will (so to speak). I'm going by memory here so any correction would be appreciated. I hope this goes towards answering your question.
  6. I want a TRON level with identity discs, light cycles, neon warriors, light runners, hyper ball and grid tanks. That is, of course, in addition to FOW. But not if it's going to delay the release.
  7. It is possible to set this as a parameter for a "victory". The scenario designer may set this as a goal. "Preserve XX% of your force". Obviously that's not going to be in a quick battle...because that's the whole point...it's suppose to be a quick setup.
  8. I've always wondered about a certain scene in "Band of Brothers". I forget the episode. It's towards the middle/end of the series. It occurs after Bastogne and after Foy. Both sides are at a short stalemate and dont want to cross the river because they both have warm places to stay and the war is slowing down (they believe). Captain Winters is ordered to send men across to capture prisoners. The men are picked who will do the job. They cross the river and quietly sneak up on the building which is housing German spotters for mortars. Before entering, one of the soldiers shoots a rifle grenade through the window (and then a frag grenade!). I could not believe my eyes. WTF!? Over. Anyone? Hollywood or true? (Sorry if I'm too vague and short. I'm on lunch break and in a hurry.)
  9. Here's what I have. Cut and pasted from my systems information (with minimal editing). AMD Phenom II N620 Dual-Core Processor Memory (RAM) 4.00 GB Graphics AMD M880G with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250 Gaming graphics 1917 MB Total available graphics memory Primary hard disk 76GB Free (277GB Total) Windows 7 Home Premium System -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Manufacturer Hewlett-Packard Model HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC Total amount of system memory 4.00 GB RAM System type 64-bit operating system Number of processor cores 2 Graphics -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Display adapter type ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 Total available graphics memory 1981 MB Dedicated graphics memory 320 MB Dedicated system memory 0 MB Shared system memory 1661 MB Display adapter driver version 8.770.2.2000 Primary monitor resolution 1366x768 DirectX version DirectX 10 It has two graphics cards. One is an energy saver. I bought it just so I could play CMSF. It works great. I play with high settings. I leave the shadows off though. They annoy me. Runs very smooth. I also only play WeGo. But it still seems to run pretty good during real time. I hope this helps. PS. My laptop is about a year and a half old now. It still runs pretty good. There have been a few minor issues as of lately. But nothing that has stopped me from using it.
  10. This is possible too. But you have to manually save each...and...every...turn. Nothing is automatic. Again, tedious.
  11. You could possibly do this if the scenario allowed it. The scenario would have to have a random unit (soldier, jeep, whatever) which would need to be tucked away somewhere which is out of LOS, possibly even out of comms with other units meant to be in play. When either "Co-player" is done giving commands to his/her/its units they could select on this random unit which is out of LOS. That would blind the other Co-player to his/her/its partners units. It would be tedious; whoever is looking at the map would need to have a unit selected at all times lest he/she/it view his/her/its partner's units on accident. Of course, there would also need to be a gentleman's agreement that no one would cheat...for what it's worth with this bunch.
