Lee
Semi-OT One way to have fun with BTR-80 Are those Russian soldiers getting in a little ambush practice and having some fun?
Scipio
I even found this: "появится в продаже 23 октября 2009 года" = "will go on sale Oct. 23, 2009". But I guess they mean the russian version. The english version will be released later or at the same time?As far as I can say, all text is saved in a plain text file. I don't think that the translation needs to much time. Even a russian-english speaking modder could do this.
MikeyD
Let's also remember the accuracy of 'release dates' posted for every other game on the planet. Has an intial release date ever been right?
hellfish
It'd be awesome if they had a scenario covering the spetznaz assault on the presidential compound to kick off the Soviet invasion. Also cool is the chance that we'll have Mi-24s for air support.
Nicdain
I wonder why there are not new updates at the CM:A website (screens, videos) while we are 20 days from the release...
Sergei
We're not 20 days from release, we're 20 days from a date given on the Russian web page. Big difference.
Alex
Unfortunately weak informing support of not basic projects it is a feature of policy of firm Snowboll. For example for us the adapted patches keep indoors on CMSF (ordinary patches on the Russian version are not put), that firm of publisher, we until now sit on v.1.10. So surprised does not stand here.
Apocal
So you're saying you have the game now and it's version 1.10?
Zatoichi
No, he's saying that Snowball haven't released the 1.2.0 patch for the Russian version of CMSF yet, so it's still at 1.10. At least I think that's what was meant.
Alex
Yes, I mean, that this firm have original policy and patches adapts us only on the special cases, as for example issue of the next module, if lucky Afghanistan for us will be published together with patch 1.21 or 1.20. We don't have Afghanistan already.

Alex
A bit not in a theme, but here another deserving game from this publisher, in Russia went out already. COMMERCIAL URL DELETED

Alan8325
Here is what is replacing the HMMWV in Afghanistan. It is called the M-ATV and it is a type of MRAP, based on the MTVR chassis, with supposedly higher mobility than other types of MRAP.
laca25
Wow... looks cool! Can we get this in the next CMSF module?
theFightingSeabee
That IS a nice looking truck! I wouldn't mind having one of those in the garage. That's some crazy suspension if the wheel-wells really need to be that high up. Most of our hummers back in the day had canvas doors with zip-up plastic windows. Our tactical hummers with hatches only had very thin metal doors. I'm glad to see stuff like this that will no doubt save lives.
Alex
It's a good car, but I don't think that a soviet had it ;-)
Chops
I just read on a translated Russian game site, that CM: Afghanistan will be released in Russia October 23rd, and elsewhere in December 2009. It also mentioned that Moon was pushing for a Vietnam game rather than Afghanistan. Who knows if any of this is accurate...but it is interesting.

I know that the Russian CM:A is released from a Russian publisher, but the English version will be published by BFC, AFAIK. But there are no official news or annoucements on the BFC site about it so far, not even as 'in development'!?
Nicdain
I guess 23/10 won't be the release date even in Russia. Today is 21/10 and no announcement was made. Actually, nothing changed on the CM:A website since 28/08
Moon
We are going to announce the game on our end and open a website for it within the next week or two, which should clarify some of the questions you guys have I guess.

MikeyD
Woo hoo! My palms are sweaty in anticipation. I've already got an extreme mountaintop scenario worked out (in my head). There's no real opportunity to go wild with the terrain editor in the Syrian desert or Normandy farm fields. And the Matterhorn is in neutral Switzerland
