PC Gamer UK Review

60%, and whatever anyone says it's a very fair review. Described as the most incomplete game to hit their desks in some time, and that battlefront have lost a lot of credibility. From a magazine that sang the praises of the previous 3 games, and even viewed battlefront as a 'hero developer'.

I can't disagree with anything in the review, in fact I'm inclined to ask for a refund - or at least until several problems are fixed, this is going to be gathering dust.....

Again over and over and over the same thing. Don't you think that we have heard this before. Getting tired of people complaining. Have you not been reading other threads on the work their trying to fix in the next patch v1.03.

Hi,

Well…even I, a totally unhinged fan of CMX2 would not argue with such a review. On the face of it anyway…

CMSF was sent out the door unfinished and it is the job of reviewers to keep developers “feet to the fire”. No matter how great the potential reviewers have to take a hard line when games are released as CMSF was.

However, what I find quite bizarre is that any fan of CMX1 cannot see that CMX2 is a far superior wargame engine. That de-bugged CMSF will be by a wide margin the finest tactical wargame yet. Nothing else comes close smile.gif . I still think of CMX1 as ultra-Squad Leader and CMX2 does the same job even better.

I got my hard copy yesterday and have now been reading the manual. The depth in CMSF is awe inspiring.

BFC have taken a huge knock for releasing CMSF in the state they did… but happily the future could not be brighter for lovers of tactical wargames. Syria is not everyone’s favourite setting… but very soon all but a tiny minority will see that CMX2 is a very worthy successor to CMX1.

My money is on some of the reviewers going back to CMSF in a couple of months and then they will report to all that CMSF has become everything we all hoped for.

All good fun,

All the best,

Kip.

There have been no "NEW" perspectives because, whatever your take on the original release, nothing has occured in those 4 weeks that would justify one.

It may be a better engine, but that doesn't make it a better design. The absence of anything resembling cmx1 QBs is a deal-breaker for me. Steve says they ain't coming back, so neither am I.

I couldn't find the review on PCZone either, but I did find one on PC Gamer. The OP might want to clarify if he is confused or was it a super secret review?

Steve

Let me get this straight: A game that has been in development for 4 years gets panned, but that's OK because there hasn't been any NEW perspective in 4 weeks since it's been released?

Arrogance? Denial? Who knows, but for those who enjoy this game my hat's off to you for "getting it". Battlefront, we hardly knew ya. It was fun while it lasted.

You mean the fun is over? I'm having fun with it, lots of fun ...it's gonna get better too. After 38 years I'm still having fun with the ole lady and I'm still waiting for that one BIG patch ..v2.00 ..suppose to give her raving sex lunatic attributes. ;) ..woe is me ..running short on time here but I'm still hanging in there.

Regards,

Gunz

hehe ...yeah, I know but it can get ugly AND expensive real quick ..I'll just wait for the patch ..just like I'm doing right now for CMSF.

;)

Besides ..any new models being test driven should be a closely held secret. Test models aren't forbidden ..just off the radar sort of speak.

Regards,

Gunz
