  1. At least I can fill you in on that; none at all. Never heard from them. I ended up doing a complete HD wipe and Windows reinstall; and oddly enough that solved my 'hardware' problem.
  2. Thank you for the courteous and professional response; 'Moon' would do well to learn from your example. It does seem, though, that contacting your President in this regard would be rather futile!
  3. Hi guys, I understand this is a community forum, but I'm having some trouble with a Battlefront customer services rep who in addition to being both rude and totally unhelpful also refuses to pass my 'ticket' (now 'closed' apparently) up the line to somebody more senior. I would be much obliged if somebody could provide an email address that will let me communicate directly with whoever the boss happens to be in order to bypass this obdurate individual. Many thanks.
  4. Chartered planes would operate from RAF Brize Norton, so those "officious airport security staff" would have no involvement. I assume this one was a commercial flight.
  5. The full title is actually 'WW2: Time of Wrath', which does rather rule out the sci-fi angle!
  6. We all know there is some truth in this, sadly. I say 'some' as these days the Mail plumbs the gutters of 'journalism' even more frequently than the Sun and everything they print beyond the footie scores is suspect IMHO. For example, is the journo really suggesting that people should be allowed to carry weapons onto civilian airliners in their hand luggage just because they happen to stroll up wearing camos?! The "officious airport security staff" were just doing their jobs and what would have been 'astonishing' is if they hadn't.
  7. The population of the planet is increasing exponentially, and sooner rather than later that means it will be larger than the planet can support. If population growth is not reduced and, ultimately, stopped, people will be starving to death by the billion. Those that don't die in the inevitable wars for resources, anyway. OK, that makes it a self-solving problem, but personally I'd rather see it done by simple persuasion and improvement in economic conditions that make 'breeding as a pension policy' a historical relic. Agreed his 1977 suggestions seem somewhat extreme, though! Whether they will stay that way if the problem is ignored for another 50 years is a different question, sadly.
  8. Hear, hear. According to the Histwar site and JMM the game itself has NOT been cancelled, just the agreement with BF. Apparently release is still on before Christmas with a demo this month, although everyone will no doubt choose what size grain of salt to take with that!
  9. No thanks. Maybe the "US only guys" should broaden their horizons a little? I have a different perspective AS a Brit of course, but if I'm buying a Brit module WTF do I want US army and USM campaigns for? It's just cheating those who do want and will be paying full whack for a Brit module (which I'm delighted to see we will get, following the success of 'Marines'; I did have no doubts at one point). Likewise with anything else; should we ever see an Israeli module for example (hint... hint...) I'd want Israeli campaigns not US army or USM campaigns. Quite apart from which, I thought modules were supposed to be independent, anyway? You couldn't include a USM campaign as it assumes the player will have that module as well.
  10. I'm sure you already know this, but just in case. THERE NEEDS TO BE A PATCH TO A COMMON VERSION OF ToW BEFORE ANY ADD-ON IS RELEASED Either that or provide the BF version free to all purchasers of other versions on proof of purchase. Otherwise another customer relations fiasco is inevitable.
  11. 'Game' were never going to sell you anything other than the Kalypso version, Kalypso having the license for distributing the boxed version in the UK. Neither was anybody ever likely to give a sensible answer to that sort of e-mailed query.. they wouldn't have a clue. You are quite right about the box art, though, which doesn't help. I assume they just grabbed whatever picture they could find. The good news is that at least the 'uber' patch has finally arrived for the Kalypso version.
  12. As an owner of the Kalypso version, I fully agree. This patch finally turned up two months late and our friends with different language versions still don't have theirs. Kalypso have done nothing to indicate that exactly the same thing won't happen next time ToW is patched or if there is an add-on. Those who have cancelled Kalypso orders in favour of BF ones have made the smart move, IMHO.
  13. What baffles me is that not only is the language the same, i.e. English but that the Kalypso version (UK) isn't even copy protected. Exactly what sort of 'localization' is actually required?! A hope our friends with versions in other languages aren't kept waiting too long.
  14. On the assumption you have some connection with kalypso (?), could you please confirm that this pathetic situation will not re-occur in the event of any future ToW patches? There is no reason any localisation (particularly in the case of English version) should take any longer than a week.
  15. It's an eight year old MMOG (albeit it perked up graphically along the way); it isn't going to look like Bioshock.
  16. Still waiting.....
  17. BF arranged with the other distributors of CMSF that the patch release should be more-or-less simultaneous. Apparently owners of non-BF versions were pissed when they had to wait.. I can't think why. A similar courtesy has not been extended in the case of ToW although, on reflection, I wouldn't want buyers of the BF game to be forced to wait. The question is why anybody has to wait so long at all.. I guess Paradox are just a rather more professional outfit than kalypso.
  18. No, the patch doesn't work with the Kalypso version. You won't get any assistance here, BF don't give a sh*t despite, as you say, their logo being on the box. I hope that's correct about March 3, there's no news at the Kalypso site or forum.
  19. Yeah... they always are wonderful 2 months BEFORE you marry them I'd love to see a Vietnam module or game, far more than a return to WW2 that will probably stretch over the next five years or so. I know the chances, though, are about the same as Elvis turning up on my doorstep.
  20. Heck, maybe even the patch for the kalypso English version as well. We still live in hope despite their tardiness and Battlefront's apathy. I wish you luck with the French and Polish versions, people.
  21. What Egon said, in both respects. As I said in the ToW forum the contrast between BFs attitude to the two products, and their customers, is striking. To be fair though, while it's always disturbing to see a game released when it clearly wasn't ready (the inevitable reason is cash-flow, or lack of it) once done the most you can ask for is that it be fixed and BF have certainly done that. CMSF is a first class product now. Just hoping they surprise me by actually developing and releasing the Brits module after the USMC one.
  22. Game no longer installed; too little time and too many others to occupy it. I'm afraid people at both Kalypso and BF really need to get their act together. Kalypso just don't seem to understand the market they have entered in; it isn't 1997 any more. Patches are expected, not a rare 'plus', and unjustifiable delays like this are not. BF don't seem to understand this hurts their reputation as well, details on this should have been sorted out when the contract was signed. SORT IT OUT PEOPLE!!
  23. While I understand you have no direct control over this, the kalypso box does still carry the Battlefront logo. Maybe a phone call for an update, and reporting back here might be an idea? Something beyond simple buck-passing would certainly be appreciated. The contrast between BF's attitude to the ToW patch and those for CM:SF is rather glaring.
  24. Agreed. The box release in the UK (kalypso, although it also has the BF logo on the back) does not have online registration to the great credit of kalypso.
