    I can’t wait to see this BP2.
In order to have all the necessary information, I just bought the book Utah Beach by Georges Bernage and Dominique François at Heimdal.

But they still can write mistakes…
    From DLC dev diary:
@Ithikial_AU Would you allow me to point out that I/919 Grenadier Regiment never belonged to 91.ID?
It was attached to 709.ID but you know that even better than I do…😉

Anyway… still 48 hours to wait! How come???😵‍💫

I use it few. Almost exclusively for attacking at close range with a single squad. If I have several squads at my disposal, then I use a combination of shooting and movement with whole squads.

One tactic that usually works is to create a short covered arc in the direction of the WIA.  But, yes, sometimes one has to give up and send a completely different unit to do buddy aid.  The larger the unit the quicker it is resolved.

    @thilio
I can't remember when buddy aid didnt worked in my games...
The thing is that you have to be exactly at the tile where the soldier has fallen.
And I dont mean the soldier itself, rather the symbol at his feet. ("+" for wounded and skull for dead).
I guess here is the problem for most of the mentioned difficulties.
It can happen that the physical body of a soldier is in one tile, while the "baseplate" is in a tile next to it.
Sometimes it is rather hard to see in which tile it is exactly. In those cases Id rather have more teams around to "scan" which of those is the right one. But only If I really need that equipment/ munition of the fallen (and the area cannot be seen by the enemy).

I would agree that it's gamey.
What's easy to miss is the recon outside of our CM games. Breaking out of Normandy or the such, yes, definitely send jeeps racing through the countryside, that's a question of finding out where the Krauts are, where they're still defending and where you can go to bypass them and keep up the tempo.
But CM games aren't that large, and there's never (very rarely at least) not going to be a significant enemy force to fight: the jeeps, scouts, etc. have already done the job of finding out that "yes, there are indeed Krauts here. We've done our job, now you do yours: go mop them up".
PBEM games will invariably be single battles, starting within the geographical constrains of one battle, and with a fairly good idea of how the enemy force looks, what it defends/seeks to occupy and usually with at least a rough idea of where they're at. What recons remains is low level/tactical, e.g. "if we go down that alley, will the company be chewed up by presighted mortar and MG fire?"
I don't think calling up a different, dedicated scout unit to go check it out. I'd hazard that the recon you'd do at that time would be more along the lines of Willie and Joe:

thilio reacted to Beaker-I in Revised Floating Icon Pack - All WWII Titles
A while back, I had modified Juju's excellent floating icon pack to match my own preferences.  The colors I chose were based on the old Squad Leader board games; Axis icons are blue, USA and Russia are green, and British is khaki.  Since USA and Britain share some icons, I ended up making the common icons (command units, snipers, spotters, etc.) a color halfway between green and Khaki.  It's a little distracting but I really wanted the two nations to be unique.
I did end up adding a few icons for DLCs but if you notice any others that are missing, please let me know.  Icon sets for all four WWII games are included so only pick the one folder that matches your game and move it into the Data/Z folder.

In CMBN manual, it's written in the map editor chapter and it corresponds to what WimO wrote.
Never found any informations on that in the CMFB manual which is very limited.

I do think the Battle of Bure is worth covering if any scenario designers are up to it. The British had a relatively small part to play in the Battle of the Bulge. But some of the fighting they were involved in, such as Bure, was pretty interesting. It doesn't strictly speaking fall into the Downfall timeframe. But it does fall into the wider CMFB timeframe, and requires assets that only became available in CMFB with the addition of the Downfall module. Here's The Operations Room's video on the battle:

I think this thread still has the potential to go somewhere. Provided that everyone can remember to avoid further personal attacks and insults. I think there is value in having a thread dedicated to discussing what we'd like some of the scenario designers out there to tackle. Give it one more chance.

The first scenario played was Exploitation. Nice map and some novelties with the Wasp and the Kangaroo but rather difficult.
This ended in tactical defeat. In this type of scenario the effectiveness of the artillery is decisive and mine was not very precise despite a veteran advanced observer with +2 in leadership (the incovenients of the Iron level).
I appreciated the firepower of the Kangaroo in which the machine gun is well protected.
A bad surprise was the long-range accuracy of the Panzerschreck which seems much more effective than in 1944 (the shooters were regular).

thilio reacted to George MC in I just HATE playing those PanzerGrenadiers…
I think previous posts have covered your query in detail. This vid I made gives an overview of how the Germans viewed the SPW and panzer grenadiers being used.
though doctrine evolved through the war it’s worth noting that dismounting from the track was seen as either situation dependent eg close terrain, and that fighting from the track itself was preferred. The later does not work so well in CM and arguably in RL (I’ve read complaints from panzer commanders of grenadiers being reluctant to dismount and do their job!).

Their tactical flexibility given by the vehicles was their key strength. Also assuming operating as part of battalion a pzgr SPW company had some serious mobile firepower in its heavy weapons platoon which served as the base of fire for any attack.

Though for obvs reasons by late war with fuel etc at a premium and allies and Soviets having operational upper hand on both fronts the opportunities to exercise this tactical flexibility were very local and tactical in nature.

Is no one playing CMBN anymore ?
Well lets try to kick start it with a few pics of my most recent and still ongoing battle:

Cromwell and 6pounder guarding a bridge.

Rivercrossing with suppressive fire from the Cromwells.

German Panzers guarding any entrances to the objectives.

    Mortar battery ready !

Smoke covers the rivercrossing and a Cromwell transitions to another fire position.

A Churchill Crocodile clears out a german held forest. Screams are heard somewher in the woods.

In the back a Sherman Firefly keeps a overwatch from the woods.

One Cromewell climbs out of a trench.

Another Cromwell was not lucky at all. He spotted a Panther, retreated a bit back and bogs down. This is where the Panther spotted him....

Yesterday I was asked to fill out a survey, part of which was 'Ethnicity'.  Under the 'White' heading (other headings were available) I was surprised to find that I could only choose 'White British' or 'White Welsh'.  🤔.
I immediately called Tom Jones to ask if he considered himself British. He told me to **** ***, even though I know he has quite a bit of English 'in him'.
