Yup its a great example to bring up when someone tries to hit you with "ThE VicToRs WRitE hiStoRy".
I wasn't immune to it either, I also fell under the spell of the big cats and the valiant but hopeless fights in the east when I was a kid (hell when I was posting on this forum in like 2012). I'm glad I snapped out of it though and I have a much more balanced view of it all now.

    +1.  Welcome to the forum.
The CMRT base game is June 1944 to September 1944.  The Fire & Rubble module goes to the end of the war in May 1945.  It adds the geography of Germany to include urban warfare in Berlin.  So huge tank battles to infantry firefights.  New flavor objects, buildings etc. CMRT will now include all seasons with the FR module.  The module will add Soviet partisans, Lend-Lease equipment, Waffen SS, Kriegsmarine, Volkssturm and Luftwaffe branches.  Also more campaigns and scenarios.
One of the things I'm most looking forward to are Soviet partisans.  Then the below mini-campaign can be finished and released.

Really looking forward to the module.  Lots of cool, interesting content for scenarios and campaigns.  Both to be played and created.  That's before the modders start and contribute even more to the East Front.

CM has never done a Pacific Campaign. A shame because whether UTAH or OMAHA there was not a single US Marine. This left out unit, deserves their own game. The Aussies also don't get a mention in any of the games. Guadalcanal, Kokoda Trail, Burma among a few others could keep us going for years.

My thoughts is: BF could have released this module a year or so earlier. But then we would have, a much more meager module!! The content, wich is in it now! Is something we only could have dreamed of, and maybe in for an 2nd module! Now its all there, two mudules in one!  And only days/weeks away. So don´t whine!!! Its comming right up your face, with more content than you normally would wish for, from one module!!
With that said, I wishes every one a good day, evening, night, or dawn! Whatever your place on earth is!

Nice dude! I have some close friends from college that are huge history buffs like me, but they tend to stick to the academic side of things. I'd also be a little bit more fervent in getting them to play if the multiplayer aspects of CM weren't such a hassle. One of the main reasons I stick to single player.

So, early 30s? Me too bro. I have actually convinced a couple other NCOs in my unit to start playing the game with me but it was easy because they both already played tabletop wargames.

I don't game for social interaction usually, but the few people I do play with are usually just turned off by the complexity of CM and maybe a little bit of the archaic feel. I pity them.

A Finnish Continuation War module would be amazing and I think a little easier than Barbarossa. I'd really love North Africa though. I'd even be overjoyed for just a 43 version of it.

Key. When I was a FIST chief (Cold War game time frame) the infantry company commander I supported, when I first met him, told me, "If I turn around and don't bump into you, you are not close enough" He wanted me and my radio close enough so that all he had to do was reach out and touch to get the fire support he needed because he wasn't about to attack anything without suppression.
This was late 70s, but it applies at any period or theater. And being in the 82d we acted more like WW2 infantry probably. We walked a lot. We just arrived in style 🙂

For CMBN?  My two favorites are Devil's Descent and Kampfgruppe Engel. Devil's Descent is a company sized American paratrooper campaign just perfect in scope. Kampfgruppe Engel is an innovative campaign where you play as Germans in the Falaise Pocket. It's a tough one, but fun and diverse.
Check this thread for some of my thoughts on these and a few more.

    Edit: It's Engel, not Engle

Yeah. I, for one, can't even play RT in its current form. Having infantry abandon foxholes under heavy arty fire is just too much. On the bright side, CMBN is really enjoyable now with the latest patch. Hedgerow battles are pretty brutal.

...More of the shorter and lower caliper guns, less one kill shots, shots bouncing off armour for longer tank duels, etc. Can't see whats not to like about all that!?

Yeah, North Africa would be great. The mix of German armor with Italian infantry in a new terrain set all covered in dust. Count me in!
