They are saying this war is worth than First Chechen. Russian ecomomy will collapse more and more. No any time to pause for Putin. Ukrainans felt a taste of blood, so any who signed acception of Ukraine losing Donbas and Crimea in exchnge for peace even with words "The time will come, when we can change this" have a risk to be hanged on Maidan.

Nope, you are wrong. NATO will defend all it's members, including the Baltic states. If Ukraine would have been a NATO member, NATO would have gone to war. Period. The fact that NATO isn't 'ready' is no matter in that respect. NATO will and can fight AND WIN if necessary. Although I emotionally understand you and would like to see military action from NATO, I rationally know that it's the right decision not to intervene military.
I also resent your remark about 'the little indirect help NATO provides'. NATO is doing all it can, except going to war. It's sending impressive arms deliveries and does everything to weaken the Russian war economy. Even if NATO was fully prepared for an offensive ground war, it would be extremly dangerous to do so and risk a nuclear escalation.
Apart from that NATO/EU is doing all it can to help the millions Ukrainians who are fleeing their country. And the West is risking it's economy in order to discourage and punish Putin for his aggression.
Again, I understand your emotions, but a little gratitude towards your only friends is in order.

That happens too, but to Ukrainians this is a war of survival. Russians didn't come to just enforce some geopolitical decisions, they came to "solve a Ukrainian question" - remember?
The increasing amount of violence against civilian population only enrages people and makes the fuse very very short when it comes to anyone who is OK with russians cluster bombing hospitals and nurseries.
And that's what they do without entering the city. Try imagining the massacre e.g. Kharkiv or Mariupol would face if any one of those surrenders.
Better to shoot one traitor than see russians murder thousands in that very town unopposed.

Perhaps you and @kraze might be better off staying out of that noxious swamp, or at least keeping it out of this thread.
FWIW, my Ukrainian in-laws freely admit to  Russian historical, cultural and ethnic connections, although they have no interest in Putin's (or Stalin's) version either.

Not that 40km convoy coming in from Belorus in direction of Kyiv. This one is north of Cherson in the south of Ukraine. Maybe propaganda. We will see...
 
 

Long time CM player/forum lurker (think my original member number was 169).  Been following this thread for a couple of days - thanks for all the info.
Chalk me up as another one of the crowd who is scratching their head wondering what the hell was Putin thinking.  Just doesn't make sense to me.  Seems like a huge miscalculation, lose-lose situation for Russia. 
I'm angry because all this suffering is completely unnecessary.  I really hope that one of good things that comes from all this blood is the end for Putin and Lukashenko.  I don't hold out much hope for Russia but maybe Belarus can go the way of UKR and become a democratic and join the EU when this is all done.
 
 
 

I don't know about you guys but the past days have played havoc upon my blood pressure. Never forget this, people, never forgive this.

There are always going to be whackos in any country.  that particular conference is run by a rabid white nationalist and the participation there by two republicans has drawn a response form the republican leadership in congress so I wouldn't put too much on that.  As Mitt Romney said in response to that event. "we have morons on our team".

Also do you know that this tower is directly across the street from the Babi Yar massacre memorial? 33,000 Jews were murdered and thrown in to a ravine not too far from there. Maybe 100k more were buried over the course of the war. The memorial there is totally interfaith, a monument to all the victims of the Holocaust. It even has a memorial cross built by Ukrainians in 1943 for their dead. But now because of his hissy fit, the great "denazifier" Putin stains the monument to the tragedy of hate with the blood of new martyrs. 
Absolutely disgusting. ****ing livid. 

I am ashamed of the actions of my government, I hoped to the last that there would be no war and this is just a bluff. Now anti-war rallies are taking place all over Russia, no one supports this war, there are a bunch of idiots who support it, but I assure you that the majority of the population is AGAINST THIS WAR. 
I honestly empathize with Ukrainians, but in no case will I rejoice at the death of our Russian soldiers! Young guys who could live a long life and do so much good in life, and not die for the sake of crazy ideas.
