I don't care about "civil manners". In fact, with Nazis I prefer them to be quite impolite, then their tone matches their ideology.

I agree, too many wehraboos exist, that being said the soviets for the most part knew what worked and kept their ill fated experiments off the front lines in favor of things that were proven. I'm just happy to get the su85m tbh.

Not saying that you are a Nazi for playing the Germans, I am doing that myself. But it is naive to think that there is not a big overlap between historical wargaming communities and nazis. Even in this forum, which is generally more well informed than others, I see the old Cold War myths of "Soviets just overwhelmed the Germans with numbers" and "German tanks were superior" all too often. And in my experience it is not far from that to the old chestnuts of "Nazis and Russians were basically the same" or "They just wanted to protect Europe from communism!"
Now maybe I am a bit jaded from having to moderate a discord channel where this crap keeps popping up, but let's just say my view of the wargaming hobby has dimmed a bit in recent month because of this.

    Hi,

Long time Battlefront customer here from Italy (actually I've been living in England since 2005).

    How about the "Southern Front?"

Hope there'll be a module covering that too.

Anyway, that's me in the picture (right): I served in the Italian Armored Cavalry as a tank gunner on a Leopard 1A2 in 1981-82.
9º Gruppo squadroni carri "Lancieri di Firenze", "Folgore" Mechanised Division, "Vittorio Veneto" Armored Brigade, Vth Army Corps.

The other two chaps in the picture are the driver (left) and loader. 😊

    1. Co-op support (each player commands a section of the force, a squad being the minimum size).
    2. Support for larger maps.
    3. Support for formations.
    4. Artillery more lethal, destructive against infantry, vehicles, buildings.
    5. Artillery able to target areas out of direct LOS with appropriate penalties.
    6. Map with contour lines.
    7. Slow movement should not be as tiring.
    8. AI should exhaust themselves less often.
    9. LMG/MMG/HMG effectiveness reappraisal.
    10. Sniper effectiveness reappraisal.
    11. Resupply system for off-map artillery and on-map units, or easier ways for mission makers to accomplish this.
    12. Reappraisal of LWS implementation in Black Sea.
    13. Indirect fire with grenade launchers.
    14. AI better at attacking and defending in quick battles.
    15. Smaller grid sizes for map creation, more building and road orientation options.
    16. Personnel less vulnerable/exposed when turned out in vehicles.
    17. Spotting individual units should be harder, AI should target areas with suspected enemy.
    18. Data export for external campaign support.
    19. More modding support.
    20. More smoke available, including reloads.
    21. Developer focus switches to improving and unifying game engine, with more support for modding allowing more content to come from third parties.  Business model of "niche market means finding ways of getting current users to pay more often/pay for patches" should be re-appraised.  Base should be expanded through Steam, payment for content only, turn more users into content creators via modding support.  Developers should not focus so much on content with a small team.
    22. Allow easier targeting of buildings that are only partially visible.
    23. Some MLRS sytems where appropriate (ie those which form part of brigade artillery group supporting a battalion)
    24. Artilery supports more than 700m line.
    25. Spotter adjust fire on one artillery unit where they have others firing for effect.
    26. Better fortifications/fortifications system, including slit trenches, overhead cover, vehicle trenches etc.
    27. Recon vehicles and other appropriate vehicles able to reliably spot while turret-down.
    28. Updated artillery system in general, including more options for timing, delaying, etc. with artillery moving between fires and counter battery fires modeled or abstracted if possible (or left to external campaign).

Exactly, we keep getting reskinned and reorganized content but can't get features that have been wanted for what, closing in on 15 years?
Edit: Before everybody goes crazy, I know new units have been added. I know the dev team is small. I also know that if this game wasn't so niche it would've died a long time ago.

Maybe we should do like that guy did for FI and lobby hard for the Fantasy Pack. Be right back, gonna invest into Gamestop and help to the downfall of Wall Street "suits" in the name of Armored vehicle representation.

In a more serious note, Steve, If I may ask, the lack of the Jagdtiger from the TOE is also a mistake of that provisional draft; or is that going to be the case in the final game?. If is that so, may I ask why is not being included?

CHEqTRO got a reaction from Bufo in Will Russia Attack Ukraine in September?
I am sorry, but I fail to see why that there was not an invasion in september, or now: its of any relevance to this discussion. The initial assestment of "Russia will invade in September" came from an article, and then the discussion moved as to why that invasion was a possibility, as Haiduk explained. The fact that it hasnt come to pass yet doesnt change that possibility.
The fact that Russia has geopolitical interest in Ukraine its easy to all to see, and the possibility that the Russians might try another military adventure into their territory its something that the Ukranians would be wise to prepare for.

I meant the ones with the short cannon, that were present in the list with its three variations (early, mid, late). But, as of now, it has been changed, together with the SU-57 repititions, so kudos to BF staff for the quick correction.
Thought they should definitivily keep re-looking the list for equipment already available in the base game and repetitions, specially in the german halftrack section.

    NO, it does not !
If you are into CMBS you are longing for a module or two for that game...
If you prefer Normandy i'm pretty sure that quite a few guys would like to see some new content (battlepacks) for that game that take advantage of the latest game engine.
    Etc...
And its not just playable content that has been lagging behind lately.
Further gameengine updates would be highely approsiated by many i'm sure...
Currently BFC is not even close to live up to the goals they themself set for themself a few years back...that involved far more then a new module ever other year...

I keep seeing people mentioning this and understand its correct.  But BFC knows that when they lay out their plans.  After 20 years, you would think that someone at BFC would know the company's capabilities.   Its not like people complain about just the pace of releases, granted it is agonizingly slow.  The main complaint is that BFC seems unable to predict anything even close to what they can do.  Every year we get a list of what's going to be released and less and less of that list gets realized.
And maybe even worse is the communications on where things stand.  We don't need to know every intricate detail of BFC's plans, but please be more realistic in forecasting what BFC capabilities are.  And this isn't some anomaly of missing almost everything on a list because its been going on for years.  In 2020, it was partnering with Slitherine, in 2019, it was something else, etc.  I have slowly realized that missing almost everything on a list is not some random event every year, its the inability of someone at BFC not learning from past experience.
Instead of a little self reflection, I know the reaction will be to throw hands up in the air and declare no more plans.  Then we go back to 2018 or so and no one from BFC posts anything for over a year, to the point of beta testers openly complaining.  The solution, to me, is a simple list every month or quarter with updates on a few of the developments.  This removes the main issue of everyone running around trying to glean info from minor comments from BFC and jumping to conclusions or developing bad expectations.

CHEqTRO got a reaction from Aragorn2002 in Fire and Rubble Update
Yeah,I will have to jump to defend Aragon in this one. It is not like this module has been anounced to be released like, maybe 5 times now?. Hell, if my memory is working properly this module should have been released back in 2018, and that is if I am not forgetting any earlier release date!
I am not gonna debate if those delays are justifible or not, as I am not a programmer neither I have any real knowledge of the inner works of Battlefront. Nevertheless, that doesnt change the fact that any release date given by battlefront has zero credibility at this point.
Hopefully this time will be the good one

CHEqTRO got a reaction from RMM in Concerns before buying
It could be that those are all old bugs that havent been corrected for the demo for as far as I am aware Battlefront doesnt update them.
Infact, just before I bought Battle for Normandy i also downloaded the demo, and it was still using the v1 (or v2, dont really remember) version of the game engine ( When i bought it, v3 had just been released).
There is an easy way to see if this is still the case. Do the sound contact icons have an interrogation sign or do they show an infantryman or tank silhouette?? If the former, the demo is still running an ancient version of the game engine

CHEqTRO reacted to John Kettler in Crater grogs rejoice!
Brother Ed is happily making craters on a 3-D printer, and I unearthed this to help him. Turns out this is a blast from my past, in the form of a runway cratering study I used when doing a report on US rapid runway repair capability in my early days at Hughes. This is, in part, quite the tutorial on crater configuration from aerial bombs and addresses dimensions  for a range of bomb sizes against both a range of runway types and against bare soil. It's called BOMB CRATER DAMAGE TO RUNWAYS and was authored by Peter Westine of the Southwest Research Institute.

I give up! This post won't delete. Tried doing that after realizing I put it in the wrong place. Should be in CM GDF, not CMFB. Mods, please move it. Thanks!
