Steppenwulf's Modded Flavour Objects for SF2
MOS:96B2P replied to The Steppenwulf's topic in CM Shock Force 2 Maps and Mods
+1. Very cool. Thank you. -
+ 5 Thank you Sir!!! This will go a long ways to improving the immersion of scenarios in CMSF2.

THIS!!! @Kieme(ITA) was able to take vehicle textures (if that's the correct phrase) from CMSF1 and make them flavor objects in CMBS (see below screenshots) If something like this could be repeated for CMSF2 that would solve part of the need for civilian vehicles on maps. I attempted to import his civilian vehicle flavor objects from CMBS into CMSF2 but haven't figured it out yet. If you or any other veteran modders @Zveroboy1, @sbobovyc, @37mm or others can make this happen it would greatly improve the look / immersion of scenarios. Maybe Kiemes mod can just be (imported) made to work in CMSF2???

I hope this Is not a New Bug.
MOS:96B2P replied to weapon2010's topic in Combat Mission - General Discussion
@Bulletpoint discovered the following which I'm paraphrasing: If the shooting unit does not spot the friendly unit, small-caliber area fire will kill friendlies. Try it out in a night battle, order your tank to machinegun some distant field and then send in some infantry. If the tank doesn't spot the infantry, the infantry will take casualties. Then order your tank to fire machineguns at friendly infantry that are very close in front of the tank. The tank can fire away all day without causing any casualties. It also works with rifles. Not sure if that's what happened in the above case. I'm just putting it forward as a possibility. -

+1 Nice job. Very interesting map. I may open it, build a FOB and run some operations. Some of those compounds look like they need to be searched................. -
+2 You are one talented dude. It's interesting that the appearance of the ninjas can be altered so drastically. If you ever had the time to explain how you accomplished that it would be interesting and educational. Maybe along the lines of a guide. Then other player /modders would have a basic starting point and might be encouraged to give it a try. What programs you had to use etc. I've recently done some very basic modding (see below) using Paint but your skill is many light years ahead of what I've been able to figure out on my own. Thanks for making and sharing your mods.

Combat Mission AAR: MSR Titan

+1 Excellent map, graphics etc. Looking forward to this very professional looking AAR. -
Do you prefer a detailed or vague battle plan?
MOS:96B2P replied to puje's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 2
+1 This. I like for the scenario to have a clear objective. So I know what I need to do to accomplish the mission. I want to decide the details on how to accomplish the mission (within ROEs and the forces provided). Then hit the red button and see how my plan works. The scenario designer provides a clear, understandable mission. The player comes up with the details of how to execute said mission. I think it is also interesting for the player to have decisions to make that have different advantages and disadvantages. Then he must think about the benefits and consequences of these choices when making his plan. -

Welcome back.

Interesting idea. It would be useful and I think realistic to have Uncon breach teams in CMSF2.

The working title is Shift Commander . It has a loooong ways to go and some technical issues to overcome yet. Situation: It’s the afternoon shift on July 1st, 2008 in the fictional American city of Chiraq. You are the commander of the Hill Street Police Precinct. Your command consists of patrol, detectives, an Emergency Action Team (EAT) and air support. -

USMC Loading up equipment for a predawn beach assault. Assault Ship USS Wasp off the cost of the fictional country of Abbudin. -
I have, on rare occasion, used the assault command to break contact. It works fairly well for this purpose but the problem for me is that the teams must start combined as squads and with rare exception my squads are split. But if teams are combined by chance (or maybe when playing Italians) it can be used like an Australian peel drill to break contact. .

Now that makes the story even more interesting. IMO the C2 part of the battle adds minor missions within the larger mission and makes the battles feel more authentic and interesting. It's made me add alternative methods of C2 to my orders / unit tasking form that I maintain on a Word Document. Example: On order 2nd Platoon will attack east into the town of Xxxx in order to support 1st platoon. Alternative signal for 2nd Platoon's attack is a red flare. Then when it is time for 2nd Platoon to attack and if 2nd Platoon is out of C2 the Company command team can pop smoke (simulating a flare). 2nd platoon can now attack. If the backup plan for the flare was not included in the orders / unit tasking form on the Word document then the flare can't be used. 2nd platoon can't attack until C2 is established or a runner is used etc. Lots of cool things can be done by the player to add interest and immersion to the game.
