@Combatintman I know this is ancient by now, but I just found this map a week ago and got very excited. I did because back in late 2006- early 2007 this place was my hood. I was deployed with the Danish Army back then, and this place (Al Harta) was the southern tip of my company's AO.
I just thought it would be fun to do a little review (everybody's a reviewer these days, right?) of your map and compare it to some actual images.
I've marked a few spots on the overview where the following images were taken.

Qarmat Ali bridge. There are some clear limits in the CM editor, so I get why you made a land bridge. But the real thing was very large and frankly daunting. Like in your scenario, we also had a lot of trouble with it. We had one man KIA a hundred meters south of it (if just applying North to the top of the map), and 2 WIA just when they reached the northen side, at another time. Also single shots fired at us.

The Tate factory, as we called it. We took breaks in there a few times. When I was there the werehouses were just open with tin roofs. Not sure all the holes were damage from fighting, or just decay. There were some families with cute kids living in there. One thing you missed, was that one of the buildings was actually a water tower. For some reason my PL found it a great idea to put a guard up in it. It was the worst position ever. It took 5 minutes to crawl up there. I could not imagine a more ****ty position to be in if you got shot at. Luckily we never did while up there.

This is just a shot from a little street we called Happy Street- The image is take a few hundred meters up the road west. One day we got shot at up this street. after searching the area we found a KPV 14.5 HMG in a garden. It wasn't the weapon that fired at us, but at least we got that one off the street. Pulling out we had a firefight again.

But yeah Al Harta, Iraq was a pretty ****ty place. I rate it 2/10.
Your map I'll give 7/10 for realism

I refrained from editing the chest rig very much, since it would affect a lot of other Syrian models.

puje got a reaction from slippy in New Afghanistan inspired campaign: Valleys of Death
After months in the making, I have finally completed my campaign Valleys of Death. It turned our to be quite an ambitious project, with 11 missions!
The campaign revolves around a US Army light infantry company, manning a remote combat outpost in an Afghanistan inspired terrain.
Unlike classic CMSF, which highly favors shock and awe and maneuver warfare, Valleys of Death deals with the issues of small units operating in a clearly defined AO. This means that, like in real life, you will conduct operations on the same map many times, with each mission focusing on different areas and objectives. By the end you will come to know the area very well, and this knowledge is key to defeat the enemy.
    Features:
11 missions     A large 2X2 km map and 2 additional maps     Modern counter-insurgency infantry combat     Heavily inspired by Afghanistan related media (Restrepo, Taking Fire, etc.)     Base game, no modules needed

Started playing though - I'm only three missions in and already had to come here to say how well done this is!
Being rather burnt out on "shock and awe" from the official campaigns and majority of scenarios - this is a breath of fresh air!
Never has poking your head over the crest of a hill as BLUFOR has been so tense! The fewer assets you have, the more you care about them.

    Excellent
You have done a great job.
I played through the 3 first battles tonight. really enjoyed the premise.
It does a good job of making one feel like they are dealing with what the Soldiers' are dealing with over there.

Just to let you know, its done a number on me also, always like it when it gives a good challenge, or shows me I can screw up.
Without giving anything away I will only say I lost way more equipment than I should have in the 1st battle, that alone will likely impact me , at least it has so far.

The loss was 5 men and 6 Hummers, you likely will know how that happened.

Hey, like they say, when a soldier stop complaining, it's because he's dead 😉
But yeah, it kind of sucks the trucks doesn't have any. However I did not want to clutter the base up with 5 more UAZs.

Yeah some of them are a little less satisfying.
My major problem was that I'm not very good at color correction. So I was limited to using picture sources where I was able to achieve a color match. Couldn't find enough pics for all faces, so some are Frankensteined together. They aren't all great I'll admit. There's one made mainly from Jet Li parts that looks kind of like a monkey 😁

This guy's nose doesn't line up very well. It looks okay from the left, but not from the right. I corrected it a bit, but it's still off. I figure he's just an ugly dude 😏
Here he is from the front (left).
The first I made was the best, it was Kim Jung Un's glorious mug (right).

I'm just some half-baked hack, but...
...I'm pretty sure the first is the correct.
I've played through several campaigns where I won some missions, and lost others, but at the end of it, I still got the message that I won. Which is a bit funny after actually losing the final, climatic battle.

I think this is off my to-do list for now  The campaign is taking a lot of work.
If you want to use something else, be my guest.

I restarted, from scratch, the PBR.

    It's getting there.

    @hundtand
I'm glad you caugh that surprise at the end. That AI for that simple little thing really drove me nuts because the AI is so unpredictable 😅

I hope it's okay to resurrect this thread rather than create a new one on the CV90.

I recently talked to a Danish dude who served on the CV9035DK in Afghanistan, and he told me some interesting things that the game doesn't get right.
    1. The CV9035's Bushmaster III gun has two magazines of 35 rounds each, for a total of 70 ready-to-fire rounds.
    2. The vehicle has an addition 280 rounds (for at total of 350, and not 210 as in the game.) in ammo storage boxes, unfortunately he didn't specify if all of these extra rounds were stored internally or if some of them were stored in the external storage box on the side of the turret.
    3. The extra rounds are linked together in 7-round belts, because of the sheer size and weight of each round - a 25mm round weighs almost a third of a 35mm one.
    4. The magazines can be reloaded from inside the vehicle, and the linked and linkless feed system of the Bushmaster III gun means that 7-rounds belts can be quickly fed into the gun mechanism and linked together with 5 more belt as they were feeding. Unfortunately he didn't specify the amount of time it would take to reload all 5 belts.
    5. Because of the limited number of ready-to-fire rounds, they would strictly use single rounds, or 5-round bursts against high-priority targets like RPG-gunners or suspected VBIEDs.
    6. They had two different automatic firing patterns for 5-round bursts- they could either be fired at the same target or be spread out in a linear pattern.
    7. Even with single rounds they were able to hit targets at distances of several kilometers. He stressed that the CV90s had a profound effect on the Talibans willingness to engage Danish or coalition forces in their vicinity.
