    StieliAlpha got a reaction from BFCElvis in CMBN STEAM key
    Then my insistence helped at least a little.
    Forget my previous question. I managed to activate all modules.
    Seems all is good now.
    Next question: How do I explain the bleary eyes to my boss tomorrow? But we‘ll cross that bridge when we get there… !-)

    Maybe I am too much old school, but what‘s the problem? We „old“ guys had to muddle through many iterations of CM and managed to love the game.
    Plus, on a higher level: Is that not like real life? There is no „real life manual”. Try and error is a valid strategy. Different to RL, in a game it does not really matter if you fail.
    Hmmm, thinking further: It may even be a valuable experience to carry back from gaming to RL…

    Otherwise: Thanks for the kind words.

    Hi,
    As far as I can recall, I have never written a message like this one in a game's community.
    I also confess that before arriving here, I've read once or twice that the CM Community is only made of fan boys, etc.
    Now my factual experience is the following:
    I joined 2 weeks ago and posted 12 questions by creating new threads or writing into existing ones.
    I received answers from 17 mates, some of them participated in different threads.
    @Artkin @Vacillator @Heirloom_Tomato @StieliAlpha @ASL Veteran @Ivan Zaitzev @37mm @kevinkin @Paper Tiger @Codreanu @PEB14 @Warts 'n' all @landser
    @chuckdyke @Bulletpoint @JM Stuff @SlowMotion ... sorry if I missed someone.
    95% of my questions have been answered, the 5% remaining were not so important.
    I've also received some help offer through private messaging from 2 guys who spontaneously call me 'mate' or 'friend' 👍
    Thanks guys! Much appreciated 😀

    And thanks to these authors because I have started using their MODs:
    @Ithikial_AU @kohlenklau @Juju @Vinnart
    Thanks also to @Bootie for his portal.
    PS: quick question: when I write @nickmame_of_a_user he gets notified in the forum interface?

    Yep, sure. I remember, i once mentioned the idea that even some early war scenarios could be created with the R35. Which should be good fun scenario creators.
    I was just saying, that questions like „Is it worth it?“ cannot be answered. The answer depends too much on people’s personal preferences. Thst I find something worthwhile, does not mean the next person feels the same.

    Then I would, indeed, go for the modules and “Scenario Depot” scenarios (AND mod’s! Those do add a lot to the game) first and leave VP and BP for later.
    BN plus modules and user made scenarios should keep you busy for a long time…

    Worth it? Difficult question. The answer depends on too many hard and soft factors.
    Like „How important are 20 Dollars  for you?“
    The VP does not add too many new vehicles or items and there is unfortunately not too much user made content available. A handful of scenarios using the VP at best.
    On the other hand: It is great fun to see e.g. the „flail Sherman“ in action.
    Is it worth the few Dollars? I concluded for myself: Yes.
    But it’s yours to decide for yourself.

    Hm, that should not be necessary. I would be surprised, if BFC would not be able and willing to give you access to your account and purchased game serial numbers. Ever considered to ask @BFCElvis ?

    Play the demos. They should give you a good impression about the looks and equipment for each game.
    Plus, you will see whether you like the games at all. I would assume you do, but one never knows.
    I, for example, had been quite happy with CMBN at the time. When CMSF came out, I was quite excited. But after playing the demo, I quickly found: Nope, not for me.

    Unfortunately only in the first 15 minutes or so. Compared to the beginning, I was disappointed by the rest.
    I remember some harsh discussions back then, when I dared to utter that criticism….🤓

    Yep, Chuck´s guess was right. My screen pic´ is not very clear, but telling from the "luggage compartments", what I noted really was an AMX. It looks surprisingly similar to the Wasp, though.

    Yep, I understood that people were quite unhappy when it was proven a myth in 2015. Somewhere I read, this was why the movie was made in 2016 in the first place.

    Yesterday I watched „28 Soldiers“ on YT. A 2016 Russian movie about a „hero tale“ at the gates of Moscow in winter 1941. It seems the story was proven to be a myth, but still a pretty good movie. After a somewhat slow start, loads of action and loads of (CGI) Pz III’s and IV‘s. Quite worthwhile to watch.

    Yep, it’s the known habit of confusing detail with realism.
    @Endyamon What makes you think all the detailed info you get is “realistic” or better “accurate”? Plus, what do you need it for?
    In RL, I am an engineer and learned “too much info is not always good”.

    StieliAlpha got a reaction from Probus in Shooting at Unspotted AFVs in your LoS that are Spotted by Friendly Units Considered Bad Gameplay?
    I would not necessarily say so. You might call it „initiative“ instead of „skipping the C2 system.
    @MikeyD „recon by fire“ is certainly no unrealistic procedure. Why not shooting at the famous church tower, expecting there is a FOB hidden? Or at the only building or patch of wood on the open plane in front of you?
    I agree, this can become pretty gamey. Therefore I try to avoid it in too extreme situations. E.g., if there is nothing suspicious in a certain spot, except knowing that some guys far away spotted an enemy there.
    For me a, much more annoying practice are for the „mad last turn rushes“, which some people seem to like. Though, indeed, one even can construct reasonable excuses for those.
    In the end, CM is a game and when playing H2H, one should agree on a common understanding and set of rules first.

    How often do you experience in RL, that things take ages, when a newby is on the job. And seconds, when an old hand does it…
