  1. Correction: It is Stalk I, not II. While searching for it, I found this on EBay: https://www.ebay.ch/itm/253231078034 Looks like all components for “Pattons Best” and “Raid on St Nazaire” on a DVD. Probably good to get a in depth impression of the games.
  2. Completely different question, but I thought this thread might be the right place to ask it again: A long time ago, I bought a game called “Stalk II” on EBay. It’s obviously an older game about tactical WWII tank battles with fairly simple, but solid rules. About CM scale, but without infantry. The game even came with a few 1/400 cast metal tanks. Does anybody know it? Was there ever a Stalk I?
  3. Yeah, in theory I know. But I have rarely seen the effect so drastically. The scenario I am playing is “CW The Mace”, where a reinforcing infantry company has to hike about 20+ minutes to the front. Probably this is a little outside the intended CM scope, therefore a “road movement” order is clearly missing. But as @Falaise indicates: You can’t expect everything from a model....
  4. In a current game, I am moving infantry to the front over a long distance with “long” move orders (say good for 5 turns). What I see (and I think that it is new), is that the leaders race ahead. I agree, it technically makes sense, because they are lighter equipped, but in RL leaders certainly would stay with their units. For the same instance: It is a little annoying, that they do not automatically follow the roads but spread out and walk cross-country.
  5. Did you give orders to individual units and later by accident issued a group order which sent them elsewhere? In this case the group order would cancel the individual order. Happens to me from every then and when.
  6. I don‘t have the answer, but remember that this question was discussed not too long ago. Search the Forum for „Battle Pack“ and „Extras“.
  7. Stupid question: There is a „dirty faces“ mod existing, I think Aris did it a long time ago. Would it not be possible to combine it with your uniforms?
  8. That will be interesting to hear. I usually find it quite difficult to come back to old games. Though I just recently went a long way to get my old „Tin Soldiers: Julius Ceasar“ back. But that‘s a different story...
  9. If you care for Napoleonic games: Have a look at the OSG series. Say „grand tactical“ games, where one counter equals a Brigade or a Division and a game covers one campaign. Some of them, like „Napoleon at Bay“, are extremely good. Most are quite manageable, others get pretty big...
  10. I did not read your thread since a while now. How is it going with your board games? I started about 45 years ago with AH‘s Battle of the Bulge. Then came Midway. Thereafter perhaps 150 others. Back in the 90‘s, I sold a few and I sort of lost track.
  11. BTW, here is an article about Operation Greif and Einheit Stielau, incl some German eyewitness accounts. Written in German, but with a little help of Google you‘ll manage. https://www.spiegel.de/spiegel/print/d-29191827.html
  12. Do you have all necessary brz-files in your data-folder? I had the same issue of „weird unit descriptions“ after installing the FI and FB patches. The solution was to just copy the missing brz-files into place.
  13. Outch, THAT really would hurt people. You know the of rest of the verse? Translates approximately to “Under the linden we’ll find each other when May comes”. Boah, shudder.....
  14. Stupid question: Did you check out „Der Reibert“? Not an official document, but sort of a Bundeswehr Training Handbook, which should help you a little further. In my days almost every soldier owned one.
  15. My case was much simpler. Those were indeed just the save files, which were created when I started the games in v4.01 to finish them in v4.03 after the update. I remembered yesterday, that I had the same “issue“ earlier. But, as usual, it was easier to ask, than to think...
  16. Arrgghhhh, I should have known. I even have as map for “Cry Havoc - Outremer”.
  17. Yup, a minute ago, just before I returning to the forum. Indeed, what I found where the saved files from the transition phase. Anyway, thanks for the reply!
  18. After updating to v4.03, I still see PBEM-games with the previous version on the saved battles screen, though I deleted them from the inbox-folder. Not a problem, but not nice either. Does anybody know, how to get rid of them?
  19. Hm, my time in our forces was less exciting. In the Air Force and operating a radar station. Though we saw some real (British) troops each year during the fall exercises.
  20. Lucky you. I was in Portsmouth once to see the Victory. But the queue was long and the weather terrible. So I gave up and said „I‘ll come back next year.“ Which, of course, never happened.
  21. No, he shelved it half-built for 40 years or so. I find the 600h quite little, indeed. During my University time, I built a 1/100 cross section of the Victory from pre-fabricated wooden parts. Just the main mast and a few meters fore and aft. It took me 2 1/2 years at, say, 5h a week. But then, I don‘t see masts and rigging in this guy‘s model.
  22. Hm, a list or at least a way to sort the posts would be nice. Searching by cycling through the posts is not very practical.
  23. @rocketman I don‘t know, if those pic‘s meet your technical requirements, but some would make very nice intro screens for CMMG. And splash screens, anyway.
