  1. Hm, my time in our forces was less exciting. In the Air Force and operating a radar station. Though we saw some real (British) troops each year during the fall exercises.
  2. Lucky you. I was in Portsmouth once to see the Victory. But the queue was long and the weather terrible. So I gave up and said „I‘ll come back next year.“ Which, of course, never happened.
  3. No, he shelved it half-built for 40 years or so. I find the 600h quite little, indeed. During my University time, I built a 1/100 cross section of the Victory from pre-fabricated wooden parts. Just the main mast and a few meters fore and aft. It took me 2 1/2 years at, say, 5h a week. But then, I don‘t see masts and rigging in this guy‘s model.
  4. Hm, a list or at least a way to sort the posts would be nice. Searching by cycling through the posts is not very practical.
  5. @rocketman I don‘t know, if those pic‘s meet your technical requirements, but some would make very nice intro screens for CMMG. And splash screens, anyway.
  6. A little off topic, but I had to share this: https://www.bluewin.ch/de/news/vermischtes/modellboot-als-lebensaufgabe-426249.html Written in German, but you‘ll get the message.
  7. Yep, some of the pixeltruppen want to die as heros. I once had a lone survivor of an infantry squad defending a crossroad in a village for 5 minutes. Nicely settled in a ruin until he ran out off MP ammo.
  8. I am not quite sure, if they include smoke, but there are some mods for hi-res explosions and fires around, as well as one affecting dust. You may want to have a look at those. Otherwise, as Bulletpoint indicates, physics is physics....
  9. Yeah, you are probably right. I read a little further yesterday. Especially an article of one guy, testing different ammo charges for his K98. He set up a very controlled environment, with the rifle supported on a sandbag and fixed, to ensure repeatable tests. He measured the deviation between hits and was talking about cm‘s distance between shots on 100m and 300m ranges, etc. That‘s certainly far beyond anything that CM can provide. By reading the article, another question popped up: Do you know from your testing, if any wind effects have been considered in the CM model?
  10. Without knowing the details: What exactly is the problem? If your platoon leader is in pistol range, he can get shot with a pistol.
  11. Use the „all inclusive installer“ instead of individual patches. Switch off your anti-virus software, before you patch. Contact customer service and file a ticket. They are usually quite responsive.
  12. Since you obviously put a lot of thought into your test set-up, one question came to my mind: Would it be possible to set up test so, that they could be compared to real world testing? Just asking, I have no idea how such a test could look like. But it for sure would be interesting to have a real world cross reference..,.
  13. Interesting point (and underlines my favourite talking point that a model is a model). Indeed, I used to paint or spray my 1/72 models with paint „as it comes from the Revell or Tamiya cans“ and add some dirt and grime over it. My brother still does the same in 1/35 and, of course, the general appearance comes out quite differently.
  14. Yep. I stumbled over it, when I searched for the v4.02 patch the other day.
  15. While you are on it: The sales page of CMBN leads to patch v3.12 only.
  16. Write a ticket. The customer support is quite responsive.
  17. Hi Elvis Stupid question, since I am still on v4.01: Where do I find the v4.02 patch? The v4.03-Description says, I should install 4.02 first, but I don‘t find it under the CMBN patches.
  18. Yeah, it was rated fairly poor. I found it pretty boring and did not even manage to watch one complete episode.
  19. That‘s what they call „placebo effect“. As long as it helps, all is good.
  20. Interesting “shopping list”. Re P500: Be aware that the games still may be years away (like new BFC titles. Hehehe....) Re the GBoH-series: I first bought SPQR, waited a looong time for the release, and was not too impressed in the end. For me all battles turned out into a “push and shove” contest. Years later “Lion of the North” came out and that one was much better: Introducing muskets, guns, a variety of tactical formations. Resembling the beloved “La Battaile” series, but obviously in a 30 Years War-setting.
  21. I understand, CMRT has not been updated yet. The patch will come with Fire and Rubble only.
  22. Another game came to my mind, since you seem to prefer solitaire games and the Pacific Theater: Tokyo Express from Victory Games, about the Guadalcanal night (sea) battles. That one is excellent. I have rarely seen such a well working solitaire system.
