  1. Now that I've posted the answer, you're the winner! Well reasoned, Sir!
  2. If you see it, please post a screenshot and the full name of the map file. These issues are not readily apparent and utterly obvious or they would be fixed, so the extra eyes you provide, and the accompanying reports are invaluable.
  3. The museum at La Gleize is really good. I spent some time talking to the curator who was a boy during the Battle in 1944. What an amazing experience. He was so eager to share his experiences he came with me and showed me the distant fields where action took place and where he hid during the fighting. Helps I could speak French.
  4. Thank you. I've been to a number of places in Belgium, Luxemburg and France, but never Germany or Austria. Thanks for the link; looks like a nice museum. I like their slogan: "War belongs in a museum."
  5. It's a stunning minute of action. But a part of me is not surprised that Hellcats would not fare well in a frontal confrontation against Panthers at 700m+ distance. Not that Bil wanted that exactly, but it's what ended up happening. I'm very curious to see Baneman's write up of this turn, because he doesn't know everything either and this FOW about one another often gives surprising viewpoints about the same event.
  6. Not an auspicious beginning, Bil, but I remind myself that it's not who make the first kill that wins but who makes the last.
  7. Confirmed and reported internally. Thank you.
  8. Luke, if you don't mind my asking, where was your photo taken? I see a variety of equipment there but it looks in varying states of preservation.
  9. I do play QB, but almost never against the AI (except to run a test which is very specific and controlled) so my experience with the auto-force selection system is not that of a player looking for a great battle. In the early days of my CM play, I did play against the AI and had a mix of force picks, some fine, some not well balanced. The force picker has, to my understanding, been improved since then as that was years ago. I think that while Shock Force is a fun and great game, due to design limitations it has not been updated continually as CMBN/CMFI/CMRT/CMBS have so using it as a yardstick for any current CM game's capabilities will not give representative results. From everything I've gleaned from posts here, it's that BFC is continually making small, incremental improvements across the entire engine. Not everything gets touched each iteration of the engine but over time almost every aspect of the game just keeps improving. I'd hope the aspect you're concerned about will be one of them. As someone who loves QB and who finds that feature the core of the CM experience, I'll be doing everything I can to report issues and make constructive suggestions.
  10. Just want to say I love your graphics, really well done and you always manage to impart humour and fun. That's a good thing.
  11. Sorry guys, the Internet woes I had meant that I had no new material to take screen captures of. That's sorted, but it takes a bit of time to put together the comic panels. Usually I have plenty of lead time as I am typically working on what is posted today, several days before. But I ran out of stuff. More to come shortly. Here is a preview... Let's see who can guess what's happening here.
  12. This initially confused me as well, so I'm not surprised to see you ask this. In my experience you must be on the green objective square. I too thought that being inside would be sufficient but I do not think it is. One can look at this many ways. My "interpretation" of this is that it's important to secure a wider area, and not just a small zone in the middle. This pushes anyone trying to hold the objective into ensuring that they protect more territory making it more challenging. It's not bad, just takes a moment to wrap ones head around.
  13. Thanks, Mikey, but what is really heroic is not going crazy wondering if Lt. Blanchard's plan will get everyone killed while I waited to be able to download IanL's turn!
  14. Welcome back, Michael. Raff is pretty darn good, isn't it? I've replayed it multiple times and still enjoyed each one. I wonder if it's nostalgia as that was the first time I every played any form of CM and it just is such a positive memory.
