  1. I can download it just fine but it wont unpack it says it is damaged. I did try downloading it more than once as well, it is not on my end.
  2. I feel really bad for infantry in this game, I will enjoy using them though as well. The modern battlefield is hyper lethal and making one mistake can cost an entire company of men easily, if not properly deployed/shielded.
  3. I would assume most modern MBT's are carrying that kind of thermal imaging blocking smoke, as for the artillery very good question!
  4. I have been searching the internet but I can't find the hard kill system that the Abrams tanks use as shown in Chris's stream. The only active protection system I can find is the soft kill for interrupting IR guidance on ATGM's and disrupting laser targeting, but nothing that destroys projectiles in mid-air. Is this a system that you believe will exist in the very near future or is it based on something I cant find? Thanks.
  5. ChrisND showed off some Black Sea footage Live today and posted it on Youtube, so I thought I would make sure everyone gets to see it! Enjoy!
  6. I don't want to speak on the T-34/85 models and variants too much because I am less knowledgeable there, but I would imagine that 90mm is once again effective thickness with slope. As for the Panther taking on the 85, yes its frontal hull armor should defeat the 85 until about 100m point blank, however the turret armor on the panther would be vulnerable to penetration from 300 or a little more probably.
  7. The Panther 2 was actually just a variant of the panther with side skirts (which helped against Soviet AT rifles), however it was deemed unnecessary because they simply put the skirts on the Panthers they already had or were producing. Panthers also do not have any where near 100mm thick armor on the front, what they do have is 120ish effective sloped armor. The sloping accounts for the increase in effective thickness, and on some of the later panthers such as the Panther V G (Late) its armor is of lesser quality due lack of good resources that late in the war. In reality the Panthers armor is about 80mm thick and that along with sloping bumps it up to 120mm effective thickness. Now in terms of what to pick in game its a bit of a trade off, the late model Panther G eliminated the shot trap on the gun mantlet which was a pretty serious weakness, allowing ricochets into the weak top armor below the gun. However as stated above the armor is weaker due to late war materials, you can't really go wrong with the panther in most of its variants though because the big Russian guns you are facing in most cases make its armor negligible. Smart positioning and careful movement will make the panther one of the deadliest tanks on the battlefield, but don't think its armor can take hit after hit in any of its forms. Use its superior gun performance and accuracy to your advantage and always put it in a situation where its armor is facing towards the enemy, and the risk of flanking is extremely low. Hope this helps!
  8. Hey, hey , hey, the T-90 is a sexy tank, but I just think shes a little overrated, the M1 on the other hand...well she has all the moves.
  9. Hopefully BFC comments soon, I am curious about this as well. *wink* *wink*
  10. Well I would hope people know in regards to the T-90 that it is literally an upgraded T-72, its unofficial name is T-72BU and was later changed to T-90. I have a feeling it might be for propaganda purposes.
  11. I don't know for sure, but I am definitely not looking forward to attacking a dug in US Brigade Armored Combat Team, I will put it that way.
  12. This scenario won't show up in my scenario list unfortunately, and I am not sure why. I put it in the correct directory as well. Documents/Battlefront/RedThunder/gamefiles/scenarios.
  13. I have an even more important question about it, can we run people over with it!?
  14. Each country will have its own campaign, so yes there will be an Red vs Blue campaign.
  15. A COLT section is an "Combat Observation team and lasing team", LSR platoon is a long range surveillance team, these are the guys who are stationed 100 of miles into enemy lines for up to 30 days. They are mostly an intelligence gathering force where the UAV's or satellites can't watch 24/7.
  16. Hawthorne if it really is causing you that much trouble (And I know it does I have been there) just pick and choose your enemies forces. It obviously eliminates some of the surprise but its much better than getting a silly force mix.
  17. Simple question, what is that formation exactly? Thanks!
  18. Yes, they are the "Sturm grenadiers", available in the Panzer Brigades mechanized infantry companies.
  19. Red thunder has been available since April!
  20. If someone could make a simple video with voice commentary detailing an single platoon attack on an objective whether it is a German grenadier, or US rifle platoon ETC, I would be extremely grateful. Armchair generals videos are fantastic but they deal with relatively large scenarios, I would like to see an intimate attack that follows a single platoon tackling a machine-gun nest or similar sized problem. While I am not clueless in this regard and understand it comes down to patience, terrain reading, and of course fire and manuever to get everything right, its nice to be able to watch and listen to someone who is now doubt better/smarter than me! Thanks!
  21. 1. SIC- Means second in command, or XO in the other western armies. He takes over if the CO is killed. 2. No there is no way to tell unfortunately. 3. There are mods available that disable the background explosions, and gun fire.
  22. They are modeled in Soviet "Tank Hunter" infantry teams, they also have there own model when thrown.
  23. To keep it simple what were they designed to do when compared to other nations grenades, and other than the 39/42 Stielgrenate what other grenades did the Germans use? This video sparked my interest, the narrator could be completely wrong but he says "Their grenades are used more to stun than kill", at least in terms of the classic stielhandgrenate. Thanks.
