Maybe I am too sensitive about the spitefulness of one Forummember, but if that is so, than my admiration for Haiduk grows even greater.

Finally was able to catch up in this thread.
First and foremost I would like to wish every forum member affected by the war all the strength, courage and hope in this awful time! Especially to our Ukranian friends! Slava Ukraine! 
Thanks everyone for contributing. It has been a total surreal experience to be able to see news popping up in this thread often well before mainstream media picked up on it.
Also thanks to this great community to keep sharing the extensive knowledge that’s been on display here while also keeping the discussion on topic, free from slander, attacks on each other and trolling (at least it never escalated). It goes to show how excellent and mature this community is.
I have little military knowledge to inject into the conversation, but I wanted to add the above to show my respect.
Let’s hope the war will end sooner rather than later and we can all go back to playing games instead.

I am still using Office 2007, still works.

In reality, the Soviets didn’t back down on anything. John F. Kennedy made an agreement to deactivate the obsolete Hercules ballistic missiles sited in Turkey before the U.S. were intending to do so. So, the Cuban missile Crisis served it’s purpose for the Soviets.

Well, they do now. But they don't have any money anymore. This war has proven that without good APS tanks are not worth the logistics tail to keep them running. It is a damed good thing Putin is not a CMBS fan. He could have learned this lesson for $50, instead of several trillion.

Been reading and learning about all kinds of wars in history since I was ten years old, but this military performance is so stunning that I only can compare it with the chaotic and incompetent way the Italian Army fought during WW2.

OK, I’ve read just about enough of this that I can stand without commenting. While I completely understand why you feel this way, and not being one of the “boots on the ground” in Ukraine or Russia, have no place to exalt or vilify your comments. This attitude is is a prime example of the vindictiveness that led the “Victors” of WWI to level such severe reparations and conditions on Germany that it caused WWII. 
 Please try to tone it down a bit, or unfortunately, I’ll have to put you on ignore, because I don’t believe in “Stirring the S*#t.” It really is nothing except extreme prejudice of the Russian people, and no peoples anywhere deserve that attitude.

I heard a russian speaking translator pronounce the Ruble "rubble". That was kinda appropriate by now.

Well, I most certainly do not agree.
I feel that your posts are becoming a little, well, too spiteful for my liking..

You can say this about many countries. People vote for a leader who is promising something, and maybe even has good intentions, and later on that leader, and his government, is "convinced" by business men and bankers to follow another way in how to lead the country. Or people are voting for A but B is using certain methods to make sure he wins.
So that Putin has been the Russian president for almost 20 years, except for the short time when he was a Prime, and later on decided that he should be leader for life, or whatever decision that was made some years ago, and politicians were bribed or threatened to allow that can't be blaimed on the common drab in the country.

See, every mushroom-cloud has a silver lining.

What if those negotiations are just a ruse to buy some time to bring in the big guns and give the world some false hope in order to avoid more sanctions? Besides they had hoped to lure Zelensky in their trap. Wouldn't have been the first Ukrainian leader they've poisoned.

But these are Ukrainian estimates of Russia losses. Even if they are trying to report accurately in public (rather than stretching the truth for propaganda), history shows that they are likely to be over-estimating.
Conversely, it might be easier to be more accurate in the days of smart phones. When you are relying on verbal reports form the soldiers on what they've destroyed, it's easy for several people to claim to have knocked out the same target. If they are taking photos of serial numbers etc. and sending those back in real time, it's possible to be more accurate about tracking what exactly has been knocked out and when there are multiple reports for the same vehicle.
