The facts of Slitherine PBEM++ system is that you don't need Dropbox. The files are exchanged over the cloud, through Slitherine's servers. There is a matchmaking service too, where you post "challenges" which can be open to the public, or protected with a password (so your buddies can get into it but no randos). Whenever a new turn file is available, you get an e-mail letting you know about it.
This system, in coordination with a third-party app like Discord (or even Steam internal chat system) I think is a pretty positive and a significant step forward.

By 1945 there were 8,5 millions members of Nazi Party. How many of them were found guilty in a court of law?
    Just for starters:
    Wikipedia
    Deutsche Welle
    Spiegel
As for professor Fullbrook, that you quote to whitewash Wehrmacht, her massage was quite opposite to what you are trying to prove. She complained that the numbers of convicts were too low:
"Fulbrook, professor of German History and Dean of the Faculty of Social and Historical Sciences at University College London, notes that “perhaps 200,000 people, and possibly closer to a million, were at one point or another actively involved in killing Jewish civilians. And the ranks of those who made this possible were far wider.”
She adds that “The total number of persons convicted under the Federal Republic for Nazi crimes was in itself fewer even than the number of people who had been employed at Auschwitz alone.”

While I agree there was a degree of so-called "wehraboo-ism" about the German military there are now those going too far in rehabilitating the conduct of Soviet army.
Lets not forget the Soviet military initially invaded Poland along with their Nazi allies and committed the Katyn massacre. They also invaded the Baltic countries who joined the Eastern Poles enslaved under a genocidal regime.  All in line with the The Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact.
Lastly Soviet soldiers did not liberate Eastern European countries but merely exchanged one tyranny for another. Many of those same "liberating" Soviet solders would later turn their guns on the people of Hungary and Czechoslovakia.

Yes, no other soldier displayed bravery like the German soldier, definitely not the Russian soldier who literally fought for the survival of his people. Who knew that if the Germans succeeded a genocidal campaign would be carried out to kill or enslave every single Russian in his country. I don't even know what to say about your comment on American soldiers, your sweeping generalization is just funny to me honestly. I'd imagine though that the ones who encountered the concentration camps or heard of them fought pretty damn well against the bastards who enabled it, that's good enough for me for that war.
German soldiers being war criminals is well documented in every service, so yes you can try to hand wave away a lot by saying "Not every German soldier!" but it doesn't do anything to the now well known fact that the Wehrmacht carried out the policies of the Nazi government and systematically murdered their way through Europe.  Also your right most did know they fought for an evil regime and they still kept fighting before they even knew they were going to lose! What does that tell you about those men?

Yup its a great example to bring up when someone tries to hit you with "ThE VicToRs WRitE hiStoRy".
I wasn't immune to it either, I also fell under the spell of the big cats and the valiant but hopeless fights in the east when I was a kid (hell when I was posting on this forum in like 2012). I'm glad I snapped out of it though and I have a much more balanced view of it all now.

Its been a while myself. IIRC its the radio operator who is sitting in the turret. As I said my issue with it is it masquerades as fact i.e. veteran recollections as do many of the books from this publisher when plainly they are not. That's my beef. A great many people not as clued up as you to the history and myths of the Eastern Front will lap it up as fact. I've  a vague recollection of him kicking the driver when he is the commander in the turret, which is odd... Given the gunner would be in the way and the driver is just under 3m away...

If you want good Indian food in the US go to New Jersey. There is a large Indian population in North Jersey and the Indian food there is great. Also, strangely enough the best Indian food I've ever had was in South Korea. There is a restaurant in a side alley in Pyeongtaek, ROK (the closest city to the US bases Camp Humphreys and Osan AFB) run by an Indian immigrant family that made absolutely delicious food. I'm from NJ so I was used to getting good Indian food but that place blew me away.
Back on topic somewhat I bought CMBN for my first CM game simply because it had the most content (both official and fan made). Over the next couple of years I slowly bought the remaining games.

@chuckdyke For not just you but all the forumites!
Maybe you can make the grade? Maybe you are your own worst critic?
Writing a tiny scenario with a small map and a small set of forces on a short time scale is such a blast! By fighting the natural urge to pump it up to be grander and ever larger, like a wedding or a party, you can keep the finish line always in sight.
Such an undertaking is within the grasp of most every CM player and is something that everyone should give a go at, even if NEVER "released to the public"...
There are many guides and tutorials out there in written and video format.
Starting with an existing map cuts the workload down tremendously!
I am here for anybody that wants to try. If you need it and want it, if it encourages your first ever scenario attempt, I am happy to make you some custom roadsigns or a building "Hotel de Chuckdyke", vehicle markings...absolutely free <<except for shipping and handling!>>
Especially if you do a scenario in one of these minor axis nation mods...!
...end of the sermon, please pass the offering plate down the pew...

To put this Ghurka thing in a more pleasant mode, when I was living in England we had occasion to visit Rolls-Royce in Derby about once a month for an overnight or 2 day set of meetings. (No fancy cars - R-R makes the heavy equipment - reactor, steam generators, etc, for UK submarines). We always had at least one meal at the "Himalaya Ghurka" restaurant.  Northern Indian cuisine. It was owned and run by a retired Ghurka soldier. I'd guess he was about 5'10", 240 lbs with about 2% body fat. Built like a tree trunk.
But the food!! Oh, my!  So delicious. My favorite was their Chicken Chili Masala - very hot red chili sauce but so much flavor. Closest thing I've had to it is good Korean Fried Chicken. You couldn't stop eating it, but you know you should, because you'll be sweating all the next day.
Good memory. I loved living in the UK. It suited us. We lived in the northwest, and it was always a treat to find that there was almost always a good convenient pub at the finish of every good hike. We lived just on the south edge of the Lakes District National Park - hundreds of thousands of acres of trails and finger lakes, while also being right on the Irish Sea. A beautiful part of the country.
Two things - 1) I was never that much of a fan of Indian food, but then I went to England and realized that the reason was because I'd never really had GOOD Indian food, and 2) The Ghurka soldier who owned the restaurant was the NICEST man (while giving the outward appearance he ripped telephone books in half for fun 🙂

Nice dude! I have some close friends from college that are huge history buffs like me, but they tend to stick to the academic side of things. I'd also be a little bit more fervent in getting them to play if the multiplayer aspects of CM weren't such a hassle. One of the main reasons I stick to single player.

Hard to believe so much time has passed even here. Back during the CMBO/CMBB years there was an newly-open Russia with all its archives and people like David Glantz to make sense of it to give a better picture on the Eastern Front. I had a site that provided pdf's on Soviet military journals from the 1980s primarily and a group of people who were very much into ways to use CM as a tool for disseminating what had been learned. The traditional wargaming community was also very active in this way and we had so many discussions on the subject. We pushed each other to continue to find ever more material to form more accurate understandings about the war. That feels like a long time ago now, but it's good to see some things are still here--and even some people

It's already part of it! There are somewhere around 20 fully detailed historically derived maps of areas fought over in 1944/45 (most 3k+) included.
Portions of some are also used for the campaigns and quick battles (all are based upon these real-world maps this time around), and maybe a battle or two- so there's some content on them ready to play, out of "the box". And plenty that are for use for make-your-owns.

Maybe it is the lack of a commonwealth module and CM:FB not going up until VE-Day. That would be my next favorite in my collection. Maybe in three years, who knows?

Aragorn, although it pains me to say this, since you liked my Goum mod so much, but I never thought F&R development was a shambles, and I think Steve has explained things (again) succinctly. In fact, I expected BFC long ago to stop announcing anything until they hit the FC stage, sort of like FI or CW, only even later. So breathe slow, count to 10, play with the Goums, pull a Brian and look on the brighter side of life, then kiss and make up with BFCs release plans. 😎  I have faith you can do it!

We all know BFC will continue to make the bestest, most excellent games and modules and packs for us—on their timetable, not ours. And they likely will, tragically, hope for early release only to achieve a later one. What with all the content that we already have, it doesn’t seem like we are really losing anything waiting for the next treat. I mean,  come on, R2V content was insane, just as insane as SF2, and you know F&R is going to be, too.

Thanks Steve for moving the progress bar. @BFCElvis explanation of the process was clear and informative too.

FWIW I think Battlefront.com is a "proper" company, even if it doesn't follow the standard publisher model of Slitherine. It has to be incorporated according to the laws of the state of Maine (?) at the very least

Having deadlines like that are good for managing expectations. But quality at release may be less than expected, as a host of small items which are unimportant individually, and were thus deemed low priority for fixing, in  the aggregate can make quite a dent in the perception of a game. And I am talking about a very big WW2 wargame that came out recently which I was the lead tester for two years until late last year.
