They're some of the buildings in the second image in your second post containing pictures.  They're in the Independent Buildings buildings set in the editor.

Assumptions are always dangerous which is possibly why you are confused but surprisingly you now want to make two without censure.

No such thing as typical - what sort of battalion - what type of operation?  In simple terms it all comes down to ground, weapons systems and movement rates.  A Brown Bess musket in Napoleonic times had a short effective range as did the artillery pieces and horses tended to get knackered out charging around all over the place, hence why Waterloo involved massive numbers of troops on a piece of ground that would probably be a battalion-sized AO in modern times.  So when you apply the principles of offensive or defensive operations to any given army, the numbers work themselves out.

As one of the 'voices' for that module and a serving soldier (not officer) in the army portrayed at the time perhaps it isn't such a good point after all.

@111thGameBn no worries mate - making scenarios can be an epic process and all of us approach it differently.  The important thing is having a passion for the thing you are creating but that will need to be tempered by what you can achieve in the engine.  My preferences are for historical actions and real terrain but they don't often make great scenarios.
Having had a cursory look at it - CM doesn't do mountains well and drastic changes in elevation, which will be the case in doing the whole mountain, and will eat up processor power - I wanted to do Kham Duc ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Kham_Duc ) for  @37mm's Heaven and Earth Mod for Shock Force 2 which started off as a 4x4km map - I've cropped it twice and it still won't load due I think to the elevation changes and the number of trees.  I would focus on the area of the main action, which hopefully will be no more than 2km x 2km and recreate that.  Be prepared to smooth out some of the contours, so long as the thing looks right you should be alright.
Feel free to PM me if you have any trouble or want any more advice - or continue the discussion here.

@Bigsocrates - there is a folder called (helpfully) Campaigns - bung it in there mate.  The filepath goes something like this:
    C:\Users\yourname\Documents\Battlefront\Combat Mission\Shock Force 2\Game Files\Campaigns
Then launch CMSF and you should see it when you go to campaigns.

Good AAR and some good points but I'm going to disagree about the time thing.
Speaking from a very interested and biased perspective, because I prefer to allow players to have the option to take their time in a scenario and am very aware of threads ad nauseum about scenario designers not giving sufficient time or titled 'why can't I play the scenario until I've killed everybody', I disagree.
If the scenario length is such that both experienced/aggressive or novice/cautious players can complete it without having to crack the editor open or kick off about how cr@p the scenario/game is then I think this is a good point. Why didn't you cease fire when you thought it was all over?
Players come in all shapes and sizes and based on feedback - a scenario that finishes early or does not have enough time for some players to complete creates more frustration than one that gives you the option to click cease fire whenever you choose to do so if you are a competent, experienced player, which based on your posts here, you quite clearly are.

@puje a Friendly Casualty parameter for the AI force might have helped you here - say you set it at 50% it means that the AI side gets the points if the player ceasefires at start or without inflicting 50% casualties.  It is more flexible than the Friendly Bonus trick.  Obviously setting your percentage threshold requires a few tests but I often use it in conjunction with the Friendly Bonus to give the AI force a points score at the start which automatically results in a player loss if a turn one ceasefire is selected.  Clearly if the human player plays the scenario through then they will reach a point (in this instance 50%) where they have killed the required number of enemy and the AI force no longer gets the VPs for the Friendly Casualty parameter.

Maybe not do all of them - the 1 Australian Task Force TO&E would be a cinch to write.  The only real changes to the Infantry Battalion were the introduction of the Kiwi Company to form ANZAC Infantry Battalions and the withdrawal of the Owen SMG and introduction of the M-16.  The dates for the introduction of the Cavalry Squadron and the Armoured Squadron plus their composition are well documented too.  Speaking from experience, having done the Brit TO&E for CMSF, I could write it to BFC standard's in about a month I reckon.
You would have to do the ARVN I think and that would be a headache and the US wouldn't be a cakewalk either even though both are well-documented.
