  1. Valentine engineer vehicles were more common in the far-east IIRC, in NWE the Churchill did most of the grunt-work: The last one is the Churchill Ark, the whole tank is a bridge, it was designed to overcome sea walls after the fiasco (sort of) at Dieppe.....IIRC one was recently dug up during road repairs in France or possibly Holland, it had been holding the road up for seventy years!
  2. Some interesting looking add-on armour on those Abrams in Sadr City: An early TUSK variant perhaps?
  3. Have to admit I've kind of lost track of what we're trying to determine in here.
  4. Meh.....ISIS just surrendered on me, that really won't do at all! Easily fixed but it will mean even more fiddling around with the VPs.
  5. Black Sea can be very challenging and it introduces a lot of new features to the modern games, but I still prefer the background & setting of CM:SF & CM:A personally.
  6. I thought the IR markers were British, not Russian.
  7. This is some amazing work, not sure I fully understand all of it TBH, but my hat's off to you all the same.
  8. I believe JK has provided some figures for that somewhere in the forum.....Apparently the signal is not detectable at significant range (IIRC), I don't remember the specifics I'm afraid.
  9. LLF.....That's a VBIED making a run through a side-street! Admittedly it's a side-street that's had some widening work from Coalition artillery, but I'm kind of pleased all the same! PS - No virgins for these two bozos.....Straight through the middle of a CTS platoon, bogged on the ruins of a wall, riddled with small arms fire and finished off by a tank. To add insult to injury the bomb was a dud.
  10. Biggest CMx1 map I ever built was IIRC 6.4km x 3.2km, took me so long to build it I never actually used it.
  11. Not me fella, as I said, I just tweak existing maps to my tastes. This, I think, is pertinent to the main matter at hand: https://warisboring.com/just-how-many-civilians-are-we-comfortable-killing-in-war/ Apologies to LLF for the deja-vu, some of the discussion here closely parallels topics we've covered while plotting my Mosul effort.
  12. You'd certainly know why there are no 8km x 4km maps if you had tried to build one & that's a fact.....I hate mapping and prefer to tweak existing maps to my particular requirements every time, those who have performed this arduous and complex task on my behalf in advance have my eternal gratitude.
  13. A portfolio of shares featuring Lockheed Martin, BAE & Dassault Systems does look like an increasingly good investment.....Ask almost any politician on the right!
  14. I know but tank destroyers are cool. And suggesting that any ordnance to be delivered by F-35 could ever be considered 'cheap' is probably just a wee bit optimistic all things considered (Can it actually even drop ordnance yet.....Intentionally I mean). If you want to get really high-tech (& expensive) about it, this is the option you want: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kinetic_bombardment
  15. Well it's not quite that yet, but I do at least see some cement being delivered to the site!
  16. I believe the 'tank-destroyer' concept has also returned to the table as a possible solution.....I seem to recall a 140mm (or larger) weapon was under consideration for something that looked not unlike a high-tech Jagdpanzer IV.
  17. On a contrary note.....How about a Churchill AVRE Bridgelayer for CM:BN/FB? Hobart's Funnies deserve special attention IMHO, just ask any unit that fought alongside them (and quite a few that didn't but wished they had).
  18. That's the area that needs to be clarified, should this actually be an option in this game format? If so, could engineers be given a 'Demolish' command, which destroys a single structure providing that sufficient satchel charges are available, the number required depending on the sturdiness of the structure? The time taken for the action might depend on the number of charges to be placed and the experience/suppression state of the engineers, perhaps modified for the complexity of the structure? Just some musings (TBH though I suspect they've probably been mused before and rejected for practical reasons).
  19. An active protection system does not have to be kinetic by definition.....Could there be something else going on? Focussed EMP type stuff? The Russians have a good track record in this field I believe.
  20. Assuming we can blow the bridge up reliably.....Did we ever get to the bottom of what exactly is required to do that?
  21. For my own part I would love to give my players in Mosul the ability to booby-trap ISIS tunnels if they find them: Hidden Location Objective 'ISIS Tunnel' - Touch (Hold For: 5 Turns) - Reinforcement Trigger - AP Mines! PS - LLF, I had nine great aunts in total, six or seven of them were in various services during WWII, they were some lovely but very strong willed ladies.....I miss each and every one of them dearly.
  22. Which really shows my age because I had to Google that before I had a clue what you were on about!
