  1. They can be shot and wounded too, I've still got a chance of rescuing one of my Mosul Refugees, even though he is currently leaking claret from some nasty looking holes (my own 155mm again, them's the breaks).
  2. I like high-quality mortar-spotters for that particular job.....But I'm a bit of a b*****d like that! PS - It's the Barrett M-82 in CM:SF, but the effects seem much the same.
  3. I'm going to check this out in both CM:SF & CM:BS.....In the former they can readily shoot holes in BTR-60s, I can tell you that for a fact.
  4. Many thanks JK.....I'm about a month behind in starting my GB project over on BM.
  5. The fact that the engine handles either format with equal aplomb is to its credit.....While time spent in the editor can be frustrating (one of those nights again) it can also be very rewarding. I now need a long lie down!
  6. Dammit, I was confusing projectile weight with the overall weight of the round.....I'll take your figures as gospel JK, I've not found anything to contradict them.
  7. The suggestion of a long recon period seems an eminently sensible idea, perhaps also attach the force FOs to this group rather than exclusively using scout teams for more precise delivery of munitions?
  8. Amen! IEDs in the supply dump.....Oh I think so!
  9. Dude, just jump into the editor and design it.....There's a great crew in this part of the forum who will help you every inch of the way, seriously. If you want to test your theory on a small map I can send you a blank version of my (LLF's really) 320m x 320m super-dense urban Mosul map in all of about five minutes. One minor issue with your plan, taking units off-map is not possible in CM:SF, but you can do it in CM:A.....Keeping the units alive until the end of the scenario (Assigning an enemy Destroy Unit Objective) is about as close as you can get (it's what I've done with the refugees in my recent CM:SF scenario). PS - You just kinda described many of the elements of 'Ashsh Al Dababir'.....I've pinged you a PM.
  10. Is the box not protected (I'm not familiar with the Stryker RWS, being British and a civvy).
  11. Assuming you can reload 'em safely of course.....Hang on, isn't that where we came in?
  12. Does anyone know if there's a specific system for numbering Soviet tanks as there nominally was for German units? 1st Digit - Company # 2nd Digit - Platoon # 3rd Digit - Vehicle # Is there a handy online guide to such a system at all, I've looked but without success. This information is mostly for my modelling, the same question asked in that field has (to my surprise) garnered no concrete answers, but I thought it might be the sort of thing that a dedicated fan of CM:RT might know.
  13. I find it easier to just consider the money to already be spent, accepting the inevitable if you will.
  14. Mk.19 would be utterly useless if the bad dude popped up in say a balcony directly overlooking the Stryker, or a nearby ditch, the grenades wouldn't arm.....Half-inch slugs on the other hand!
  15. I hope you are talking about the outcome there.....Fortunately it's just something from a testing session, the vehicles were left sat in their starting positions while I monitored the AI Plans, but all those red crosses popping up at once really caught my eye, so I thought I'd see what happened and get a screenie!
  16. Inspired by Combatintman's splendid Operation Neptune Spear scenario for CM:SF, I thought it might be a worthwhile to use the excellent (especially for uncon warfare) CM:A in attempt to model the CIA's (abortive) earlier plan to assault Osama Bin Laden's 'Tarnak Farm' terrorist training camp near Kandahar: The images above are from 2001, but the mission would be set in the summer of 1998.....Had this mission actually taken place and had it succeeded, the world we live in today might be a very different place. This is just a placemarker for the moment, I want to wrap up Mosul completely before looking at another semi-historical scenario.
  17. That's a useful fact to know JK.....20 rounds certainly seems far to few.
  18. I think a big part of the issue is always going to be separating the insurgents from the locals, especially when (at least some of) the insurgents are the locals.....The world's military forces already know how to take urban areas, what they don't know is how to do it without causing intolerable carnage.
  19. Single plan version with basic briefing is provisionally ready for testing, PM me if you want to give it a try. The current version still lacks a Tactical Map.....But it might not do tomorrow!
  20. Pretty sure the US DoD published a document to the same effect a couple of years back, I remember it scaring the bejesus out of some of the conspiracy-nuts.
