  1. Soviet air power was not directed from the front in quite the same way Allied air forces were.....Consequently you don't get any say in what their targets will be, as you are just too junior a commander.
  2. Cool video of the upgraded T-80BVM, playing in the snow: Interesting to see them with the usual air filters not deployed or removed entirely.....I guess dust isn't much of an issue up there. Great looking tank IMHO.
  3. It's getting there now.....This must be the tenth or later iteration of this scenario. The player now controls the opposite side, as the AI was just too thick to run the attack how it needs to be run. Do remember my frustration at the AI controlled Mine Teams? No matter how many you use in a AI Group they only blow one hole in a wall and you seem to have to use at least two or the Assault Command (apparently required to trigger the Blast) will fail. The more units you use however, the more likely one of them will discover alternative routing and not bother to Blast at all, often dragging others with them, etc. etc. ad infinitum. The current idea is that a very well armed (they have a couple of tanks & BMPs), but starving and frostbitten Mujahideen Battalion (Hizb-e-Islami specifically) have demanded sanctuary in a small town.....The town is still under control of the Najibullah Government and has refused their demand, so the Mujahideen have decided to take the town by force. As mentioned earlier, the Mujahideen are not in great physical shape, so it requires some planning to get them through the walls in sufficient numbers to take the town.....My efforts thus far have not 'survived contact with the enemy'. An independent tester would be useful, but I have no briefing or graphics for it right now (as usual).
  4. Rather heavily reinforced and with an extra hour in hand, the Dushmen try again: Meanwhile, inside the town itself, one of their spies attempts to make contact with local sympathisers to the cause: @37mm The close water tiles seem to have vanished when using this version of the mod.....The river appears to be an empty channel, to a certain distance, at which point, it's full again. Odd.
  5. There may be two.....Isn't the Hotchkiss H.35 in there too somewhere or am I remembering ancient rounds of CM:BO? Either way they may well need the attention of the modders, as the Germans often rebuilt the cupolas and almost always replaced the stowage.
  6. Reporting in to point it out.....As predicted. @Battlefront.com Persistent Map Damage.....We wants it!
  7. The T-34/76 m.1943(?) had a cupola too IIRC, but I don't disagree with your main points at all.
  8. This, also in other titles, don't forget the Seep: & this come to mention it. T-34 minerollers would be very useful too.
  9. My issue wasn't my actual result, more the result I that was expecting based on my losses.....I expected a defeat or a draw at best. The aforementioned AGL stayed quiet until after my forces had siezed the farm (I don't think it ever spotted the prolonged firefight), then when I ran a truck forward to perform a hot resupply (my BTRs were toast by then), it spotted that and kind of woke up, laying waste to all it beheld!
  10. That kind of makes sense for the T-34.....Opening the driver's hatch on a T-34 seriously reduces the integrity of its frontal armour.
  11. I believe I've got accounts of KV-1S & KV-85s in use during (or immediately prior to) Operation Bagration.....I'd have to look for them though. IIRC Valentine was only kept in production after 1943 to meet Soviet demands, apparently they really liked them, especially the 6pdr versions.....But then, they liked the Airacobra too! Is the KV unique having armour that got progressively lighter (after a certain point, probably KV-1E m.1941)? PS - Some interesting comments on the ineriority of the KV-85 (in comparison with the IS-1) are to be found here: https://tanks-encyclopedia.com/ww2/soviet/soviet_KV-85.php
  12. It's a bloody awful idea in CM:A too.....I don't know if that game specifically has Uncons focus on tank commanders, but it surely felt that way when I had two unbuttoned T-55s reduced to two crewmen each in under a minute!
  13. So they recruited the village drunk.....Again! I hope they didn't put the blighter in charge this time! Look forward to giving it a go.
  14. That would be a challenging fight, good workout for the various water & ford tiles too.
  15. Looks a bit parky mate.....Hope you packed your thermals!
  16. A lot more so for me than it was for you, apparently!
  17. My thoughts exactly on seeing your beautiful maps. Balancing them can be tricky though, the more so the smaller the various units are (IMHO).
  18. It is at night (immediately before dawn TBH, but it's up in the mountains). Based on current testing it needs to be rather longer than allowed for too.....Tribals are a complete b*****d to dig out of their villages, as they seem to share the 'Urban Concealment' ability of Combatants in CM:SF. I'm 45 minutes into my own 90 minute scenario and I haven't even reached the town walls yet.....Their snipers are doing sterling work!
  19. WooYay! I'd judge it to be this bit: https://www.google.com/maps/place/Berlin,+Germany/@52.5146526,13.3979185,15.25z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x47a84e373f035901:0x42120465b5e3b70!8m2!3d52.5200066!4d13.404954
  20. IGs can lob their shells, but they usually need a spotter to do it!
  21. Isn't that BTR (with the comedy turret) one of the ones you fobbed off on Iraq? https://www.kyivpost.com/article/content/business/ukraine-starts-first-btr-4-shipment-to-iraq-102614.html?cn-reloaded=1 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BTR-4
  22. Not sure why would it should.....The gunner is still using the same periscope. However there might just be some bonus to accuracy over a number of shots, as the commander is better able to observe their impact.
