  1. Yes, remake, please! I loved that game. Played it a couple of years ago and with some updated graphics and campaigns it would be an instabuy for sure.
  2. Another good way to get people's attention is to use "@"+username (a list appears). That way they will be notified that they are mentioned in a thread even if they haven't posted in it.
  3. @111thGameBn Don't give up on Italy just yet. Many mountain regions in Italy are arid with few trees which is very much possible to do in CMFI. Just look at the Polish campaign in GL and "Ramparts of the Pallikoi" in the base game. @Combatintman is the main problem the elevation itself or the sheer number of set elevation points? Would load be less if "unneccessary" elevation points are eliminated?
  4. Does Graviteam games have the same free camera that can jump all over the battlefield without affecting performance. Doing that on the fly would take a lot of calculations, even if a lot is done beforehand - or? @Bulletpoint never have played Graviteam games, but can you elaborate on "more realistic ballistics than CM"?
  5. In the top image, are those hit decals on buildings? New feature?
  6. You could have received a corrupted save from your oppo. Extremely rare but happens. Ask your oppo to redo his turn and see if that works.
  7. Just a wild guess here, but here goes: in the game we can see all enemy tank hits with hit decals, in the war only knocked out tanks left behind could be studied. Not all knocked out tanks were photographed and not all photographs remain to be studied. Perhaps a lot of tanks with gun barrel damage were salvaged and repaired? Are there records of what tank repairs were made, would be interesting in this matter. But perhaps there is a limitation in the engine for the kind of grazing shot a hit straight to the front would be. The incoming shell hits the barrel at a very shallow angle so maybe it doesn't take much for it to skim off the surface and continue. Perhaps the engine detects contact and penetration is calculated making the barrel susceptible to full penetrations?
  8. @mjkerner Very nice mod indeed. Top notch. Are tank destroyer crews meant to have djellebas though? Using the dusty version.
  9. I remember "Indigenes" as one of the first war movies that I really felt was authentic but those were the days before I was really into the history of WWII. IIRC, the movie made then French president Mitterand cry and soon after he implemented a law assuring war pensions for soldiers from former colonies which they previously were denied. Outstanding mod @mjkerner - just tried the "dusty" version and will look at the other ones later on.
  10. Many computers come with a lot of "bloatware", so check again just to make sure.
  11. Ok, so one key for the game and all modules then? Do you have any sound improving software? There are known issues, for example with Nahemic for MSI laptops, which causes the game to crash on launch. I have had that and disabling/removing the program resolved my issue.
  12. If I remember correctly when I installed I had missed one license key which was with a CMBN purchase at the same time (engine update probably). So carefully check your purchase history. Edit: I also installed from the all-in-one file.
  13. Is that official? When it first appeared its turret and hull was facing away from the HQ so they shouldn't have known about them other than suspecting they were there as it had probably witnessed it taking out some infantry. Wonder how the TacAI handles contact icons of various strength?
  14. IIRC after it turned its turret it took 5-6 sec for them to spot the HQ.
  15. And yet, in the same battle, infantry spot infantry that hasn't fired at distances of +200 m. So if the fog in this battle is as bad as not spotting that Stuart, no fighting would have taken place at all so far. And it would be an unplayable and boring scenario. It isn't. Quite fun, despite this oddity.
  16. I have witnessed several times how spotting in CM can be a bit off what one could expect. But most of the time there is some kind of rationale for what occurs, like terrain, trees, buildings etc that makes it understandable, given that it is a game after all. But this one is just too much. Granted the scenario is in foggy/rain conditions but still. I had a HQ with a panzerfaust waiting behind a building for a Stuart to pass it, knowing it was around for several turns and having sound contact with it. Finally the Stuart moved forward at a slow pace at a distance of about 20 m and yet my HQ just sat there, not even moving around to spot something they at least must have heard. But no. The Stuart slowly turned toward my men and gradually swung its turret around. This whole process took about 25 sec in which my guys just sat there. Finally, they pulled out their panzerfaust and at that exact moment got gunned down. It was as if the Stuart spotted them only when they became an apparent threat. View from the Stuart. My blind and deaf men. Note that they are not rattled. Veteran.... I will hang on to a save if anyone wants to have a peek at it.
  17. I have long wanted to make a menu screen mod for FI but have lacked a reasonably good colorized photo to do one from. Finally found one that I felt sums up the Italian campaign pretty much and added medals for the Italian/NA/Victory in Italy campaign for various Allied countries. For now it can be downloaded from the link below, but could @Bootie please add it to CMMODS https://www.dropbox.com/s/l7m8z3e4gj78qcj/splash background.bmp?dl=0
  18. @Malaspina I read most of the book when R2V was released and started work on a 4*4 km master map to make some battles. But concluded that the slopes were too steep in many places to make the German positions close to the historic ones. So I stopped and might do some "what if" battles later on. It will be interesting to see what you come up with. Did you use a editor map overlay? I have some resources that might be of interest, drop me a line if interested.
  19. Too me they look too rounded and not much like I imagine a brick wall crumbling would look like. Maybe still a beta texture?
  20. And by that time, wasn't Caen more or less one big pile of rubble anyway?
  21. Might pick that one up. I have wanted to read something by Timothy Snyder a long time.
  22. Have you identified why it doesn't run on your new PC? I'm in the process of looking for a new one, but if it doesn't run CM - no sale! Make sure no bloatware causes problems. I have had that with a sound enhancement app that crashed CM and some other games by small devs.
