It better to resist the temptation of entering and clearing buildings.  Better bring the building down with tank and AFV firepower.

    A couple of thoughts.
First, practice it. Save a game, try it. Do it again. Your men will die. But, as long as you're learning, they'll die grateful that their sacrifice was not in vain.
Second, HUNT is a poor order for building entry. HUNT translates into "move slowly and carefully until enemy contact and then stop". The LAST thing you want to do in a building entry is stop. Even if the bad guys have the "fatal funnel" totally bore-sighted and booby-trapped, YOU KEEP MOVING. Giving your men a HUNT command means they will stop right when the enemy opens fire. They'll die. Your men, that is.
ASSAULT is similarly handicapped in that it means, "one team moves, then it holds position as the other team(s) leapfrog up and join and then they all accordion forward again." So, your squad moves by team. Not good.
You want to dynamically enter and dominate the space. Enough about my dating habits, let's turn towards the game.
Setup some overwatch. Give them Target for 15 or 30 seconds. They'll use high explosives (LAWs, etc.) so be careful about fratricide. If that's an issue, give a Target Light, a Pause (for 15, 20, 30 seconds) then a move with a Face at the end of it. Stagger it so SOMEONE is always guns up at the enemy location.
So, 2-4 overwatch/suppression elements, timed to lift their fire as the maneuver element becomes adjacent to the building.
The maneuver element should actually have two parts: close support and entry. Move the close support team adjacent to the building, on a wall with windows. (Not the big picture windows! That's a sure way to die.) Give them a 15 second target command into the building.
The final element is the entry team. They'll move adjacent, pause while the close supporters are doing their thing, and then they should QUICK into the building. Do not give them a FACE command. (A 360^ covered arc would be the only command I'd give, and only to keep them from engaging units outside the building envelope, and only if I knew/suspected that would occur.)
    The timing would be:
Teams 1-4 (or about two squads) firing for 15-30 seconds. As their fire ends, two teams, independently, move adjacent to the building. One team area fires into the building for 15 seconds. The other team waits 15 seconds while FACE into the building. That same team then enters with QUICK.
As you can see, it can take about a platoon and you're only entering with a team.
A lot of suppression, a lot of eyeballs on overwatch, and a few trigger-pullers to kick down the door.
Oh, and have someone set up to shoot down any squirters.

I think that you'd need a "reverse slope" on a tile to see anything (up to "very tall vehicle") on a square.
    To put it simple:
reverse slope / no aimpoint: Your unit can't see the ground of the square (and thus is not allowed to area-fire), but has a chance to spot enemy units that "protrude" from the ground (depending on the angle between your unit and the enemy unit and their actual height). As they "protrude", enemy units offer your unit an aimpoint, so to speak. E.g. In a field of crops, if you get a reverse slope aimpoint, you might be able to see standing enemy infantry, but still have no chance to spot crawling enemy infantry (until it is very close and can be spotted "through" the micro-terrain). So when you have a reverse slope aimpoint, you have a chance to spot enemies under certain conditions (you don't really now how tall the enemy must be in order for you to get a chance to spot it). no LOS: You can't see anything (even tall vehicles) here My theory (on how micro-terrain affects spotting):

Have a read of the monograph I linked to earlier  - they were almost cancelled early on by McNair but call from those on the pointy end still wanted them which helped quickly overturn the decision - and while difficult to haul around and keep up with advances (they ideally wanted self-propelled guns) they proved useful in a few situations i.e. Sicily with distrupting enemy armour attacks and direct fire at blocking bunkers, fixed fortifications.

IIRC This German infantry support gun in game can both fire directly and indirectly - I think it features in a scenario with probing Greyhounds in drizzle on a longmap with flanking options.

Wicky reacted to Combatintman in New Scenario - Assault on Port Cros
I figured it was about time I created a scenario for this title and I am now in the closing stages of finishing off a scenario titled Assault on Port Cros. The scenario, while based on historical events, is not what I would term as an accurate representation of them so this is more of an attempt to offer something new and maybe different for CMBN.
    The basics:
Play Mode:  Allied vs Axis AI only.
    Battle Type: Allied attack.
Battle Size: Large (I know this is subjective so to qualify this it is an Allied company plus force against an approximate Axis battalion element).
Battle Length: 3hrs 30 minutes (although this may change based on final testing).
    Map Size:  2368x1264m
Requirements: Market Garden and Vehicle Pack modules.
The basics of the history are that the First Special Service Force assaulted German coastal defences, including Port Cros, on a small island group covering the approaches to the Port of Toulon to set the conditions for the main Operation Dragoon landings in the south of France in August 1944.
The following image forms part of one of the briefing graphics for the scenario:

Marvelous start.  I'll be watching how you do.. you will find that doing a complete METT-T analysis as you have shown will help you with situational awareness and give you an advantage over an opponent who does not.  Doing it against the AI is almost not fair,  against a human opponent it is a must.
As for being more careful against a human... well, I think that is wise and only natural... a human opponent is a far different experience and challenge than fighting against the AI.  They will always do something that will surprise you and that will force you to shift your plan.
You are a brave man showcasing your first PBEM game publicly.  Bravo.

Based on this excellent blog: http://battledrill.blogspot.com/2015/11/mett-t-analysis.html from @Bil Hardenberger, I will try to conduct my first METT-T analysis.
    MISSION
This mission is simple, my main goal is to hold the two objectives in my zone. This is a meeting engagement so I will have to reach Obj1 at the beginning of the scenario and destroy the enemy to reach Obj2 that will be surely occupied at the end of turn 1.
    ENEMY
Intel is indicating that German is starting with a Reinforced Infantry Platoon followed by some Heavy Weapons coming at turn 5 and one Halftrack at turn 10.
    TERRAIN
The two objectives are located at a bottom of a V formed by two hills on the left and the right side. There are quite good lines of sight across the map. Controlling the flanks should give me some overwatched positions on the two objectives.

    TROOPS
I have a Reinforced Infantry Platoon but many composed of "green" soldiers. I am expecting the same reinforcement that the Germans.
    TIME
I have only 20 minutes to reach both objectives plus 5 minutes extra possible.

I will throw in my simple request that has bothered me since their very first cm game.
Add a blasted wind directional arrow to the directional compass or something along that lines.
drives me crazy that the only way to tell which way the wind is blowing and how strong is to pull up the text in the briefing.
Wnen I am looking at a enemy position from a friendly location, I should have a arrow indicating that. instant knowledge as to what likely to expect of smoke and such.

More from the "Sales Policy page":
"ORDERS WITH OUT OF STOCK OR PRE-ORDER ITEMS
If your order contains any out of stock, backordered or Pre-order items your order will NOT ship until all ordered items are back in stock. We do not ship out partial orders.
Our online ordering system is setup to bill you at the time of purchase not the time of shipment. That means that as soon as you click the "Submit Order" button your credit card will be billed.
If your order contains backordered or out of stock items you will be billed the full amount before the order ships. If you do not wish to be billed in that way, then please do not place an order with any out of stock or backordered items."
Pre-ordered items are "out of stock" items by definition about which BF clearly states if you don't want to be billed in advance on out of stock items don't order them.
Let's look at this rationally... BF has a Sales Policy page and they have a product page that parrots the key bits of information about when to expect a pre-ordered product (when it is in stock). The product page also says the game will ship when it's ready(it is not in stock until a release candidate has gone gold). I do not perceive this as marketing, I believe this information is included in the sales page so that prospective buyers won't have to read the "Sales Policy" page to understand the pre-ordered item will not ship until it's ready. The unscrupulous thing to do would be to not mention it at all on the product page and fall back on a "Well it is clearly spelled out in our Sales Policy" rationale as an answer to complaints about taking money from customers and not delivering product. Clearly BF has not acted in bad faith toward their customers, but have tried to ensure complete transparency regarding the parameters of the purchase. That's not just marketing, that's also being honest about the parameters of the purchase.

Essentially. I thought a video showing tanks, explosions, gun fights, and the new updated features would be a bit more fun than a few more screenshots on the website. I'm not even a beta tester. I'm just a guy who likes CM and has the hardware, software and patience to put together video's of gameplay. I am certainly not a professional, and I have no grand illusions of becoming a professional YouTuber or anything like that. It's just a fun hobby for me that I figured could benefit the community while we all wait for the game to be released.
It's impossible to please everyone, but I'm happy with the vast majority of the feedback I've received, and I think most people have enjoyed getting to see a bit more SF2 before it releases. At the very least I hope it's better than nothing.

A few years back, Gianluca Serra found a legendary bird thought extinct in Syria, with funds from National Geographic’s Committee for Research and Exploration. Now Serra is trying to forge a stable population of these ungainly creatures, with a little help from a prince and some first ladies.
The northern bald ibis was considered extinct in Syria for more than 70 years, according to the scientific literature. Tell us about how this legendary bird was rediscovered — and when and where.
We rediscovered the bald ibis on a remote cliff of the Syrian desert in April 2002, following clues from local hunters and Bedouin nomads as part of a general fauna survey of the area. The birds were the oriental subspecies of northern bald ibis, which had not been seen for many years.
