New Scenario: Delaying Action at Ogledow Redux
Erwin replied to kevinkin's topic in CM Red Thunder Maps and Mods
Thanks... -
Interesting. Most applicable to CMSF given the open LOS and desert environment. The other videos are also a great reminder of how inf needs to move in certain formations for certain tasks. Unfortunately, the dispersion recommended not possible with current CM2 engine. One can see how and why CM2 casualties can be so severe.

Link for d/l? -
For huge eastern front armor-centric battles on huge maps you have to go back to CMBB. .

Generally, move inf forward till someone gets blown up and than have engineers move (SLOW) to that point and sit. After a few turns (depends on their experience level) the mines will be marked. It's unclear if marked mines are completely safe as I am certain I had guys blown up moving thru marked mines - but that may have been changed by a patch.

Tiger Tank Commader, still to low
Erwin replied to weapon2010's topic in Combat Mission Final Blitzkrieg
Maybe they should all look like the first pic. That would be me cowering from snipers in the cupola in that situation. Also, it looks a lot colder in the first pic. So, he's realistically protecting his ears from frostbite. Man, CM is amazing in its attention to detail! -

Looks great. However, where is the d/l button at CMMODS? I do not see any it in the usual place. -
I was thinking more of the personal weapons of a squad (the grey icons in the above image). All the WW2 titles except CMFB and also CMSF and CMA have mods available that gives the cal and range. The effective ranges of those weapons can vary quite a lot. Also, it's good to have immediate info re what cal ammo each weapon uses. Without that info it's easy to ACQUIRE the wrong ammo. (Yes that is more of a problem in CMSF and CMA where the Russians in particular used two types of 7.62mm ammo.) Your mod looks good btw. Looking forward to it.
-
Yes. Someone else did mods for that for all the other CM2 titles. Having that info to hand has always been very useful re small arms: what ammo one needs and what the ideal ranges of weapons are.

I think that looping around to the right is the best way. That's how I succeeded - very satisfying scenario.

Ever since CM1 and CMSF I have installed all BF games to c:/sims/'GAME NAME" and did not have a problem for many years. However, I get the feeling that this now confuses the updater for patches etc, as I found a 2nd installation of the game elsewhere, and had to manually move the new files into the correct folders in order to get the v1.01 running.
-
Looking forward to it.
-
Absolutely. CMSF with the updated patches (I think v1.32) is awesome, and the entire package with all modules is a bargain. Plus there are literally hundreds, maybe thousands of mods, scenarios and campaigns you can d/l for free.
-
Thank you CMFDR - that was much easier - much better to have one file rather than all that extracting technique that didn't seem to work (for me at least). My other question is which CM titles is this sounds mod good for - all the WW2 titles? (Alternatively, which CM titles is it NOT appropriate for?)
-
FWIW I really enjoyed playing the scenario you completed. I thought it was already better than the average use-made scenario and didn't need more work.

Nagorno-Karabakh! A real CMBS possibility?
Erwin replied to John Kettler's topic in Combat Mission Black Sea
Interesting. When I was in "the biz" I played Col Lunsford's "Decisive Action" game. I wonder if this is the latest version.- 13 replies

I am on PC. I downloaded all 3 files again.. tried renaming them .rar and opened to get a .brz file. Copied all three to another folder - so may be ok. Is one supposed to explode the .brz files into one folder or leave the three .brz files as they are in one folder? I note that you names all three files identically, so they want to overwrite each other. Presumably one needs to rename them 1, 2 and 3??? (You didn't make this very easy or intuitive, didya?) Is HQS 2.5 good for all other CM2 WW2 titles? What about CMSF, CMA and CMBS?

That has been my experience as well. Maybe other players have simply been lucky.

Am curious why you use these strange compression techniques that no one else uses. I have no .rar folders only 3x .man files (parts 1,2 and 3), and I have no idea what to do with them. Was it a bad download??
