  1. If you enjoy red on red missions, this campaign is terrific. Interesting maps and situations and good mix of units over he various missions. I recommend that you track down the uncon mods.
  2. There was a supposedly biographical book by Guy Sajer that sounds similar: "Forgotten Soldier". https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/102305.The_Forgotten_Soldier Read it when I was a teen. Pretty good a la Sven Hassel genre.
  3. "...tell all teams individually to occupy the same set of foxholes." Don't they recombine?
  4. Well, the rusting of the roofs is brilliant.
  5. Am not into H2H but those look like lovely maps. Hope you get AI eventually.
  6. Unless it was altered in a patch, am pretty certain that sandbags are eye candy only. Hope I am wrong. Also re foxholes, I assumed that the limitations of the engine meant that a squad couldn't be squeezed into foxholes when in RL they would, but that all members of the squad would receive foxhole protection regardless of where they appeared to be. At least that's the way it should be.
  7. They already look great. All they need is more weathering and they'll be perfect.
  8. Hopefully, others are enjoying playing this. I am traveling again, but looking forward to this when I get back.
  9. The scenario I tested for the campaign was govt (ANA) vs AI Muj.
  10. The question is whether all the men in a foxhole "hex", regardless whether they appear in or out graphically, receive the foxhole bonus?
  11. Lovely work. Are these only appropriate for CMBS era/location, or are they appropriate for other CM2 titles like CMRT, CMBN etc?
  12. Yes there are a huge number of CMSF mods. Unfortunately, most were on the old CMMODS and lost - and do not appear to be available in CMMODS' current incarnation. First you can try looking through the BF site "Repository" and of course post requests here (like you have).
  13. Exactly that. If you want to have specialized units in a game to do a particular job then they should be appreciably and noticeably better at that function than the other units. Currently, recon, engineers (minus the charges), snipers etc are interchangeable. CM2 factors are often too subtle to notice any difference outside of doing tests. Playing a scenario where the specialized units actually function noticeably better at their specialty makes the experience much better. Designers who do this would benefit all the CM2 products not just CMFI.
  14. In CM1 all units in a campaign are effectively "core". The designer can select levels of resupply, replacement (as well as what reinforcements will arrive and where) in future missions. But the resupply and replacement level applies to all units. I enjoyed the CM1 campaigns where you play on a section of a much larger map, and the result of each mission determines how far forwards (or to the rear) the next mission will start at.
  15. The weathering on the signs looks very good. Can't wait to try the mods out (still need a larger HD).
  16. Love the mod. One suggestion is that vehicle mods should not allow one to see the side of the tank behind the bogey wheels. If you look at historical pics that area is always shrouded in shadow and dirt and cannot be seen. At least darken that area down considerably.
  17. The official reason given for not allowing tank crews to swap tanks is that it would lead to gamey behavior.
  18. A lot of are hoping that eventually units will be able to ACQUIRE/SWAP ammo between adjacent units (with a time delay penalty for realism's sake). The current system if you play WEGO is an awful waste of clicking and time. eg: Turn one: Split unit if needed to fit on vehicles and race unit to vehicle and embark. Turn 2: ACQUIRE and disembark, race back to main unit. Turn 3: Recombine to share ammo. When you have a bunch of units trying to do the same thing, it makes playing this complex game quite irritating. Enabling ACQUIRE from an adjacent vehicle (or inf unit) would greatly streamline (cut down on unnecessary clicks and actions) and speed up play.
  19. The problem with 88mm or thinnish-skinned vehicles with such guns (Nashorn etc) is that they were supposed to be used at long range only. 1000m is like point blank for them. It's only an issue in CM2 cos nearly all the maps tend to be smallish. You really want to use em at 2Km-3Km + range.
  20. If we ever get aircraft and airports in this game, we seem to have the ground controllers. Or maybe he's practicing for the bow scene from "Titanic".
  21. The question I have always puzzled over is whether "scout" unit means anything. In the game it feels like "scouts" are basically a form of infantry that behaves exactly like infantry. So, why bother selecting scouts - just use infantry units. My thought was that scouts had special training (along with engineers, snipers, and other specialized units) so all such units should be at least one experience level higher than the other "line" units in order to function better. Have always considered it realistic to have regular troops and (say) Crack or even Elite Snipers or similar. (It's also a lot of fun as well.)
  22. So bummed... am traveling with laptop with no extra HD space to d/l these wonderful new mods. Next machine gets 2TB HD!
  23. Hopefully most people may be able to distinguish the subtle difference in quality between this effort and Band of Brothers TV series (or Saving Private Ryan for that matter).
  24. "At least every third reenactor is at least 10 kilos overweight." LOL. I thought exactly the same, but was much too polite to say anything (you rude person, you...). And yes, the largest problem is that everyone thinks moviemaking is easy, so why use professionals? These clips are the sad result.
