  1. Moving for a short distance (10m-20m) then pausing and hiding has worked well in my experience in most situations where one's troops are moving in sight of enemy (if not already being shot at). Recommend to move FAST for a short distance in this situation however. If you use QUICK, the AI could make your troops stop and return fire. eg: I had an AT team move QUICK and while moving they spotted an enemy tank. The AI had them stop and shoot the tank. In this case it was a pleasure to watch. In the situation described above, you would not want them to stop and return fire.
  2. Is this a UHD (4K) TV? How did the game look on that size screen?
  3. Love the BRM-1K. The Corsar looks too clean and "toy-like". Needs some graphical treatment to make it look a bit rougher/dented maybe some dirty camo?

As someone who does that all the time to get the dimensions of the game correct onscreen, am not convinced that one needs the "60". IIRC leaving it at 0 lets the monitor run at a default refresh rate.

  7. Am not a tech grog. But, there have been problems with the AMD videocard. Most of us use NVidia.
  8. I don't really care one way of the other. But, a 30mm cannon seems to be designed for fighting other AFV's - which it seems is not what the Stryker is good for. The 105mm seems much better for inf support.
  9. Pretty explicit: "A Stryker formation would dismount its infantry one terrain feature away from the objective. The dismounted infantry would then assault the objective with the vehicles they left behind providing supporting fires from either their MK-19 grenade launchers or .50-caliber machine guns. These objectives are intended to be ones that light infantry would be traditionally tasked with. Nowhere in the doctrine does it discuss Strykers matching up with enemy armored forces. The greatest tragedy for a Stryker formation is a destroyed Stryker with its squad still in the back, which is exactly what would happen when put up against a tank."
  10. I like the worn look. Altho' the red badge should be faded a lot. It stands out making the camo less effective.

Recon SOP raises an issue I struggle with: Is it better to use a single platoon and divide up all squads and use the entire platoon for recon - meaning that one platoon is spread all over the map - possibly out of C2, and not able to concentrate for combat. Or, should one divide up one squad per platoon and use only that team for recon ahead of its platoon (staying in C2) - thus leaving the rest of the platoon combat ready?
  12. Altho' to be fair, the UKR govt probably has more than 3 or 4 guys working on the project and a slightly higher budget.
  13. I was going to ask if you could do a version for CMSF. But, I figure we may get CMSF2 soon.
  14. Note the hits to the upper hull. Could the tank be "more" hull down? Or, is that a random game effect?
  15. Maybe we need to have it made explicit whether we are talking about what works in the game vs in RL. I was interpreting Olek's points as what works in the game. That is also what inspires my own comments. CM2 is a game. I thought we were all here trying to learn how to be better players.

  17. I like to use the minimum necessary force to accomplish an objective. I have played missions where I leave a reserve, and if all goes well, I don't use it at all. Also, you can decide that only X% casualties are acceptable (regardless of what the end screen says re victory level). In that way you can make any scenario as challenging as you like.
  18. Very nice HT. What terrain mods you using? Or is it primarily the effect of using the WW2 decolorized mode?
  19. Thanks for the new mod, Olek. Anyone know why the Canucks favor black as opposed to the very sensible camo finish the UKR are using???
  20. All new scenarios by new designers are welcome. The best thing is to experiment with new ideas that stretch the potential of CM2.
  21. FWIW I have upgraded to v4. But, I prefer attacking. The above behavior mostly affects the defender.
  22. So the shrapnel from the adjacent burst went through the Abrams. A direct hit doesn't allow shrapnel to form?
