  1. Since we can choose any units for any side, maybe another invasion attempt by the German led EEC forces vs the UK with US reinforcements.
  2. That is useful info. Never thought to change the speed of an EVADE command (or use it to advance forwards). Thanks...
  3. And we are sure that cos only one computer does all the calculations, a H2H game will not be prejudiced in favor of the player using the mod?
  4. Would be useful, but complex. One can achieve a similar effect by ordering AREA FIRE on a spot just in front of the smoke. CM2 does calculate the shells continuing onwards thru the smoke, so your shells (esp for MG's and small arms fire) would have some effect on whatever is on the other side of the smoke.
  5. Related to the "PAUSE until friendly seen" idea, is the related "PAUSE until enemy is seen and shot at, then move to next waypoint". This would be invaluable for AT and Sniper teams. Also, that would be a useful "Ambush" order for other units since in WEGO you don't want your ambushers waiting around for 45 seconds while the enemy brings heavy firepower to bear.
  6. Nah... Get yourself a new UHD 4K 65"+ TV and give the old one to the spousal/squeeze unit.
  7. Another issue is the quality of the components and how well they have been designed to sync with each other. Dell is not known for quality ingredients.
  8. Quite horrifying. People will excuse it as a "cultural values" thing that "they" do "over there". Thank goodness we're are not letting these folks bring their cultural values to come and live in the west. Oh wait...
  9. In RL, buildings are booby trapped inside. However, if the effect of having a huge IED just outside is the same, there's no issue.
  10. That's one of the reason that am hoping that BF goes to CM3 asap. Of course there are alternate opinions on this. But, my hope is that much of the models and content created for CM2 could be used in CM3 thus shortening the development time so that all the existing CM2 games could be upgraded to CM3 and released within a year or two, and then we could more quickly get onto the earlier eras (ie: 1939-1943) and include the other nationalities mentioned by Ithikial. If CM3 will be developed at the same glacial pace as CM2, then yes, it's probably better if BF complete the earlier eras in CM2 first. But, at current rate, that could easily take another 5-10 years. CMSF came out in July 2007. It's hard to envisage the CM series staying much the same and maintaining popular interest until 2023 let alone 2028.
  11. Uniform looks great. Careful with the green striped flak jacket(?). That looks a bit too clean. The way you have dirtied up other camos is xnt. BTW: Am impressed and delighted that you are looking at CMA as a possible extra project. Most folks have ignored that title. But, CMA is running a close 2nd to CMSF in terms of being very interesting and having a completely different feel to the WW2 titles, even to CMBS. Some of the uniforms and face skins for CMA done by a subcontractor are very poor and it would be wonderful to have a good guy redo those so that CMA (esp the ANA) can look as good as the typical modded CMSF game. If you check the CMA forums you'll see that some (esp Sgt Squarehead) have been doing some very interesting scenarios for CMA and there are also some xnt Campaigns for CMA as well. I have just about everything (mods, scenarios and campaigns) ever made for CMA. So, if you can't find em at CMMODS or the Repository, let me know and I can send em to you. Don't worry about Mr. Burke. Nobody takes him seriously (other than hisself).
  12. Hey Olek: Are you having a problem making up your own mind? Cos, Mr. Burke here wants to liberate you from my totalitarian mind control I have exerted on you. Sorry about that...
  13. "...this seems to be a recurring statement by you Erwin and I can appreciate they may start to feel that way for you, but that is your perception and not one I’d agree with." Jeez... Olek asked me a question and I responded. Cos you don't agree with my "perception" or "opinion" you could have simply responded to Olek and let him (or anyone else interested in his question) make up his own mind. To reiterate: When I was injured I got to play a LOT. 8 hours/day for years. I found that all the WW2 titles started to seem the same to me in terms of gameplay. It's as if one broke up CM1 into its various theatres and eras and tried to play em as separate games. They games would basically all play pretty much the same with graphical differences.
  14. While playing this campaign it seemed like in many missions my Igla AA seemed to run out of missile ammo rather quickly. It seemed to me that one should allow the max number of Igla teams to shoot as much as they want. How do other players handle their Igla teams? Do you conserve ammo by somehow rationing em?? Also, the Igla handheld seemed more effective than the vehicular AA missiles. In my current mission, the Iglas have shot down two aircraft and the vehicle AA none (and is now out of ammo). Is that experienced by other players? (I woulda thought that AA missile ammo would be well supplied and plentiful.)
  15. "you cannot place them in buildings" Hmm... I thought that was how booby traps were created. But, maybe am thinking of a different game. Seems odd though.
  16. Is it a question of which item is placed first? The IED or the unit?
  17. Delighted that you will look at CMA. There are some good mods for Soviets and the Muj/Uncons. But the worst ANA uniforms and faces. The developer made the skins differently from other CM2 titles. Hope you can give us much better ANA and other faces and uniforms.
  18. Your point is taken. I wuz thinking of a situation where the enemy is ahead, so it would be relatively safe to have them FAST move to the safety of the rear.
  19. Depends on which theatre or topic interests you the most. The games play almost identically. The main differences are the vehicles and uniforms. After playing all the WW2 titles, they all start to "feel" the same. I went back to CMSF as that is completely different with the wide open spaces and sunshine. The thing about CMSF is that while the Blue player has tech advantages, you can always play Red side. Also, there are excellent Red vs Red scenarios and campaigns (better than many of the WW2 titles imo). The other challenge in CMSF as the Blue player is to keep friendly casualties to a minimum. You often lose cos you blew up too many "Preserve" buildings, or suffered more than a couple of men shot. That is the real challenge and it can make it very hard to win.
  20. I definitely recall there was substantial discussion about this years ago and that was the conclusion. But, it's all a long time ago now. And it may well have been apocryphal. Found this from Crushingleeek 10 Posted April 26, 2012 Also: antaress73 69 Senior Member Members 69 891 posts Location: Montreal Report post Posted February 1, 2015 (edited) I have a question.. when they say in the victory conditions that you get X number of points for keeping your casualties under 30%, does it count only the killed or does it include killed and wounded (total incapacitated soldiers). I ask this because in my last battle, I received the Bonus for keeping casualties under 30% but in the AAR, when I calculated the killed and wounded, it added up to 41% casualties by my calculations. Also, It would be logical to buddy aid to reduce the number of dead soldiers if only the dead is counted for the score. My mistake. Figured out yesterday that, at least as far as parameters go for dolling out victory points, wounded men are not included as casualties. That's great because this way, buddy aid can be important for victory. (Wounded men who are not attended to by the end of the battle have a chance to become KIA's after the last turn.) ******************* So, lots of opinions... I wonder if it was tied into the campaign concept where (again) IIRC, WIA and damaged vehicles were more likely to return as replacements/reinforcements than KIA ones.
  21. Am certain that originally one got less penalty for WIA so one was rewarded for giving Buddy Aid. So, that has changed with newer versions. "...soldiers dragging their wounded friends to safety. That would be a change worth making to the game to increase the survivability of the guys giving buddy aid... ...that would be cool." +1
  22. Very good advice. I might use FAST if it would get the passengers into safer cover more rapidly. One doesn't want them to be close to a vehicle that could get hit again and/or blow up and kill even more.
  23. That is very ambitious, Olek. Be aware that what generally happens is that a new CM2 product is released and all the players' attention goes to the new product, and the old products are almost forgotten - at least for a while. So, be prepared for that when CMSF2 comes out.
  24. All I can say is "Wow". Looking forward to the improvements. I noticed immediately that all the helmets seem to have identical camo.
  25. We have god-like spatial awareness in the game. In RL the situation would be much more confused. It's realistic that troops (their CO anyway), would be reluctant to possibly waste precious ammo firing blindly into smoke. One could argue that an enemy could pop up smoke, wait for your men to fire and pinpoint their positions, and then attack you while your guys were low on ammo.
