  1. Have never used this technique as have observed that if waypoints are on top of each other, they can get cancelled out (for movement purposes). ie: one of them is ignored and the unit moves on as if one of the waypoints (the 2nd?) never existed. Looking forward to experimenting with above technique.
  2. I don't mean the CM2 series of games. Am referring to the other CM1 games CMBB and CMAK - which are still being played. Have you also tried other game player sites such as A FEW GOOD MEN (http://www.thefewgoodmen.com/) and SCENARIO DEPOT (http://the-scenario-depot.com/index.html)? also, THE PROVING GROUNDS: http://www.the-proving-grounds.com/scenario_details.html?command=search&db=scenarios.db&eqskudatarq=1719
  3. FWIW am using SLOW when am advancing towards possible enemy (including inf) but I don't want the tank to stop for unimportant enemy fire. Works well with modern (CMSF and CMBS) since those tanks can spot and shoot very well on the move.
  4. I used it in a speech I gave to Parliament back in 1899. Uh oh... gotta go. Nurse is coming...
  5. Yes. The extra crew improve spotting for the vehicle.
  6. I hate to go where no hand has trod foot. But, that means "everyone is giving up". https://idioms.thefreedictionary.com/throw+in+hand Is that what you meant. Or' "everyone is poking their nose in"?
  7. Correct. CM1 simulated a squad with 3 men which could get whittled down to 2 and then 1 as casualties mounted. It was fine for that somewhat larger scale of game (where one could play with a regiment of infantry plus a battalion of armor on each side on an 8K x 4K map), That's a major reason why CM1 is still played: https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/webandofbrothers/invitiation-to-participate-in-bb13-round-4-t19054.html
  8. Or, a shell missing its target and flying toi the other end of the map and there killing a couple of vehicles thru sympathetic detonation.
  9. Problem is when you have a couple of guys doing all the work. It's not like BF has hordes of programmers they can reassign from planned tasks. All of us who have been longtime BF supporters have learned patience and also trust in that BF won't release anything until it's good and ready. Obviously, this issue is irritating to many. Personally I find I can usually work around it by using different tactics.
  10. So... Show how you would do better.
  11. Very nice AAR and entertaining video. Liked the way you explained the thinking behind what you were doing and when and why you "broke the rules" at times. I quite like Brighton as well.
  12. Not many people know that he stole the phrase me. Not happy about that!
  13. Maybe a detailed tutorial that demonstrates the features of the CM2 system specifically CMBS while you learn to play - as opposed to the dry academic manual which overwhelms one with info, is hard to read and by the time you get halfway you've forgotten the info given at the start. In other words a manual in which one is given context and info is given in a useful order which would make retention of all the info much easier.
  14. For example, one tactic (strategy?) that Reds use (TBOMK) would be attack in echelon three companies deep. So, the first gets badly mauled but degrades the defense. The 2nd degrades the defenders even more but also becomes combat ineffective afterwards. The third wave breaks through to the rear. However to attempt this one needs a Battalion-sized force - which is one reason am happy to see Olek have a crack at this large (for CM2) size scenario. HerrTom's AAR about his river crossing assault on another thread is also instructive. (An der Schönen Blauen Dnjepr.)
  15. Well, in 10 years of playing CM2 I have never encountered THAT problem. You should probably get a prize for finding somehow to get into this situation lol.
  16. The point is that it might work in this game. Am certain that I have read similar "unusual" tactics recommended by others on these forums over the years when faced with unusual situations. Would you do it real life - that's a different issue. As I said, it would make for an amusing movie to have a CM player accidentally being given command of a RL formation due to a comical misunderstanding.
  17. I understand where you are coming from Sul. The issue with CMBS is that until now there has been no advice on how to handle Red forces - and as a very experienced player I also still have had problems handling Russians or Ukrainians. I don't agree with everything Olek is saying. But, he deserves respect for making an effort. I get the sense he's like a movie maker being attacked by nasty movie critics who can't be bothered, or don't have the balls to make a movie themselves to "put their money where their mouths are". Also, I wonder if successful game tactics conflict with RL tactics. There is a difference.
  18. The good news is that there are very many mods of SS uniforms. Check out the BF Repository and CMMODS: http://cmmodsiii.greenasjade.net/?cat=19
  19. IIRC The only way to get the squad together is to bring the main part back to the straggler and then order an alternative route.
  20. To summarize so you don't have to search thru a thousand other forums... Many have complained about this new behavior and BF is working on fixing it. Don't worry... Be happy...
  21. There are many things that I would not do either. However, it is fascinating to see how others handle a situation and there is always something to learn. And as said, Olek AFAIK is the only person here attempting detailed analysis. If others are now doing so, that is very welcome.
  22. If you think it wrong then why not offer your own detailed analysis as to what you would do in the above scenario circumstances. It's very easy to criticize and sneer. Alternative helpful/constructive viewpoints are welcome. As most of us agree, CMBS is the hardest CM2 game to master. At least Olek is making an effort to provide tactical advice. Something very rare these days.
