  1. +1 (Would help if formations were "in formation" for set-up phase.)
  2. Good point. Hope that CMSF2 and future versions of CM2 will feature more graduated graphics of bridge damage (since we'll be able to destroy em).
  3. If you can't find it in the BF store, you could a) ask BF about it. and/or b) contact Dan Verssen Games: http://www.dvg.com/
  4. I generally keep all unused mods in an UNUSED MODS folder just in case it's useful one day. But if you saying that the original Mabuta mod is completely obsolete and should be deleted permanently, I will do that. Shame to see all the folks piling on top of you in the other forum. While there are several tutorials about the WW2 titles, they are mostly useful for newbies imo. AFAIK, no one other than you has attempted any type of tutorial for CMBS - which is a much tougher game to master than the WW2 titles (or CMSF). Instead of criticizing you, it would be more helpful if they actually attempted a CMBS tutorial based on what they think are good tactics. But, all some people know how to do is criticize and demean others while being unable to contribute anything helpful. Many people appreciate what you are doing with your mods and tactics advice,Olek. Everything is situationally dependent, so it's hard/impossible to create a "one size fits all" tactic that will work in all situations. Stay in good spirits, mate.
  5. Well... you clearly don't live in NY.
  6. I don't seem to have "Varan Mabuta Mk2". I looked at "Ukrainian-MabutaMK2" and it has files that would be replaced by your new "Toad" camo. So am assuming that "Ukrainian-MabutaMK2" is what you are saying should be removed from my mod folder and replaced by "Toad". Perhaps the confusion is that you do not include the word "Varan" in the name of the mod. I only see the word "Varan" used in the description of the mod at CMMODS.
  7. Yes, it might make a fun movie to have a commander in charge of real combat units whose experience at war was based on playing a wargame like CM2.
  8. It seems like a good idea for certain scenarios - the ones where a designer has created an unusual situation to stump the player. So, if one had only infantry and heavy arty, this tactic would make sense. However, would it happen in RL...??
  9. I have "...Ukrainian-MabutaMK2" in my Z OLEK folder. Is that the same as “Varan Mabuta Mk-2”?
  10. So, if an unit can call for artillery it does not actually need the radioman or a radio?? If this is correct, would it still need the Leader at least? And if a regular inf unit (without artillery privileges) gives buddy aid can they pick up a radio? But in this case (presumably) it would be useless for both C2 and artillery calling(?).
  11. Ah yes... another useful and fun feature that for mysterious reasons was removed from CM2. Actually am playing a huge CMBB tourney right now with a Regiment reinforced with a few companies of armor on each side. Lots of bridges and I forgot one could do that with engineers...
  12. Suggest checking out Grigsby's WAR IN THE PACIFIC (original or Admiral's Edition) game. That game has dates for the arrival of every unit in the Pacific theatre, ships, squadrons, ground units etc.
  13. Interesting re Spec Ops formations. I figured that they are useful for highly specialized roles (Am presuming that you would always make them a much higher experience level than reg troops) rather than being part of a conventional Bn-level attack such as outlined here. Or, did you include Spec Ops just for fun??
  14. Thought that was not possible (until CMSF2). Maybe something else was happening? Or, did something change in v4??
  15. You can buy the CM1 games from BF in their store under "Classic Games". Also, people still play large tournies using CM1: https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/webandofbrothers/invitiation-to-participate-in-bb13-round-4-t19054.html
  16. The designers probably thought some helpful Russian would politely open the rear doors for them.
  17. This is the situation one usually finds in a typical CM game vs AI. Also, re what to do when advancing/attacking under an enemy barrage. Does one essentially get the inf back in armored transports and then wait the barrage out or withdraw all vehicles and any inf a hundred meters or more? I hesitate to move forwards when under a barrage (into unsecured territory) as one could enter an ambush killing zone.
  18. Am not much of a historian, but IIRC Brit SOP was to have a lot of HMG's (Vickers etc.) capable of sustained fire in addition to artillery. Perhaps it's a scenario design issue if the Brits are not given what they would/should normally have. Kinda like a scenario with Soviets and no artillery etc.
