  1. And it's a good thing when there is so much at stake. All previous presidents got conned by China (& NK).
  2. People are well aware of how Clinton and previous Presidents got conned by NK. My sense is that Trumpy is a much more real world pragmatic guy who is used to dealing with lying scumbags in his property development biz. But, as you say, the key is whether pressure can be kept up on China to prevent backsliding.
  3. Olek: Not sure what you mean by "core". Is this for modders to use or are we players supposed to use it "as is" in our Z folders?
  4. With "working" main gun and bow MG. Lovely paint job. Also - large scale MkV:
  5. It takes time for Hwd to catch up with new concepts. When I was a teen I read all the Philip K Dick books and his writing affected how I saw the world - may have inspired the Matrix writers (Wachowski Bros.). I spent the next 10 years trying to convince Hwd studios to work on a project based on his concepts - and for 10 years was shot down all the time. After I gave up, "Blade Runner" was made, and since then most of the Sci-Fi TV series and movies have much basis in the concepts Dick wrote about. Actually it's interesting that the Wachowski Bros don't mention getting any inspiration from Dick even though it's pretty obvious if you know Dick's work.
  6. Having worked in Hwd, I can assure you that you would be horrified at what is termed "commercially viable" by most studio execs. Compare with what sort of scripts they all want: "Fast & Furious" ad infinitum. "Ryan" and "Fury" are about as nuanced as one can expect.
  7. An ending where the Nazi SS chappy just says "Gosh, I am terribly sorry old man about all this Hitler crap. How about I just surrender and we can all go off to the NAAFI for a cuppa and have a good laugh about it all" just doesn't have the dramatic impact that audiences are looking for. Unless it's a Monthy Python skit natch. Maybe it's time for a spoof - "Saving Ryan's Privates".
  8. There's a lot of Pacific Theatre use of course due to the caves etc used by the Japs. But, have seen very few videos of WW2 European theatre use of flamers. Can recall only one video where a team of Brit Crocs were flaming quite a long distance. Is there any WW2 video of Wasps or inf flamers in use (in Europe)?
  9. To put the NK-China situation in perspective one can think of it as nuclear Scotland vs England. Or, maybe nuclear Luxembourg vs Germany. Lots of things China can do, but they will have to be forced.
  10. The video was mostly boring, but some exciting moments...
  11. By Dec 44 the were using kids and the elderly to make up numbers. So, with massaging, could be "possible".
  12. Others can discuss the specs better. But, you should be fine for most scenarios except for the largest CM2 scenarios which do require much power.
  13. Not sure if you realize that there is already a massive mod that changes CMSF into looking like Europe - landscape, buildings, vehicle and inf camo. Am thinking that if we are lucky, your CMBS (European-type) mods may work with a Euro-modded CMSF and CMSF2.
  14. Is it also true you guys get wine and gourmet meals?? (Maybe calls for a new kitchen unit as well?)
  15. Probably best strategy is to threaten Chinese interests and let them take care of NK. eg: Trade War and withdrawal of US biz interests in China. The additional benefit is dealing with Chinese expansionism into S. China Sea (and other places like Africa, S. America and current incursions vs Bhutan and India etc) at same time.
  16. No, I mean the European complete overhaul mod for CMSF - to make CMSF look like Europe (not the desert).
  17. I asked this specific question when CMSF2 was announced as that was a big concern. Am certain that we were told that CMSF mods and scenarios will work in CMSF2. Combat Mission Shock Force 2 From the dev, steve, posted 12/10/17 Now let's see, is there anything else to talk about? Well, there is the Alpha of Combat Mission Shock Force 2 we uploaded for testers yesterday. I suppose a few of you might be interested in it, so I'll take some time to do that. Existing CMSF content compatibility? Yes, the long awaited conversion of CMSF (pre Engine 1) to Engine 4 is well under way. It's been in the works for more than a year already and, as expected, hasn't been quick or easy to do. Pretty much all the artwork has been overhauled, the TO&E had to be rebuilt VERY carefully, and lots of internal data was reconfigured to work with formats which have changed multiple times over the years. Most importantly, Charles had to delicately code Engine 4 to understand the old scenario file format so everything that was made for CMSF1 works without modification in CMSF2. Thankfully Charles figured out how to make that happen, otherwise we'd not be having this discussion right now. Continuity with previous content was a deal maker/breaker feature. Now that testers have the Alpha in hand they can start the lengthy process of going over all the original CMSF content to make sure it works with Engine 4. Then they will work on playtesting to ensure advances in the game environment haven't upset the balance of play. No doubt most scenarios will require quite a bit of tweaking. Current conflict? When all is said and done CMSF2 will look and feel like all the other CM2 games, except with the unique CM2 content. The game content, in case you are wondering, will not be updated to reflect the civil war that erupted in Syria after CMSF1's release. We also have no plans, immediate or long term, to expand CMSF2 to other potential arid environments. When? OK, so when can you get a hold of it? Not until early 2018, which will include the Base Game and all three Modules at one time. When can you see something from CMSF2? Way sooner than that. We just have to, uhm, finish rounding off some rough corners first. Price? You will also want to know that Battlefront appreciates the support and dedication of CMSF customers over the past 10 years. Especially in the first year when we all worked together to make the game engine solid enough to expand upon. Since nothing shows appreciation better than discounts, we're offering discounts The specifics will be announced as we get closer to release, but for sure it will be far less than theoretical $165 it normally costs to purchase a brand new Base Game ($60) and three $35 Modules. Though I do know for sure the discount price will be a bit more than a $10 Upgrade There you go... I've officially broken in the new Forum! Steve Posted October 12, 2017 Mods will likely need retouching, but theoretically they should work. Perhaps even "as is". For scenarios and campaigns, however, they will work without doing anything special. That was a deal maker/breaker concept for us. If we couldn't work it so the old stuff worked, we'd not be doing CMSF2. Steve
  18. Depends on whether the next module for CMBS features winter months. But, I imagine that if the mod is available people will like it. Just don't spread yourself too thin, Olek. Over the years we've seen many modders go nuts and do a huge amount of work, then suddenly they burn out and disappear.
  19. Very good, Olek. Wonder if these would work in the "Euroscape" module for CMSF (1 or 2)?
  20. Ah yes, that is what I found. I never thought to try it with inf. Thanks for the hint.
  21. Nice commentary/analysis of WEGO vs RT.
  22. IIRC in CM1 one could use engineers' satchel charges also. CM1 scenarios could be a lot longer than 1 hour and on 8Km x 4Km maps.
  23. BF says that all CMSF mods and scenarios/campaigns should work in CMSF2.
  24. Are you sure that one could fire any kind of mortar from the shoulder? I thought maybe it's a misidentified PIAT. Google can't find any handheld WW2 mortars anyhow... 2" is not to be fired from the shoulder. IIRC the infamous Jap "knee mortar" was misidentified as being fired from the knee - but it would probably break the leg.
