  1. You have to click on the executable file. It should be CMFB_Setup_102.exe or something like that. It's process is similar to how you installed the game in the first place.
  2. 22mm is the diameter of the base tube. The explodey part is larger. How much larger I don't know and it's possible the HEAT and HE rounds were different.
  3. You don't manually place the patch files into the game folders. The patch is a program that executes that function when you run it. First extract the zip files into an empty folder. Then click on the executable file and follow the directions.
  4. Could you post the save game file? I made a test scenario for this issue and it's working fine in there so something else going on.
  5. Ignore the out or range text and plot the smoke mission anyways. They will fire, assuming you are using Engine 4
  6. In CM they are repurposed into minefield detectors
  7. They are not just eye candy. The skirts protect against anti-tank rifles and to a lesser extent HEAT rounds.
  8. I don't know if that's intended behavior or not, but my SOP in every iteration of Combat Mission is to think of the Target command as a "everyone fire all weapons at that target/spot" command and therefore use it sparingly. Infantry with anti-tank weapons typically do not need to be ordered to use them if an armored vehicle is within effective range.
  9. My understanding is the GM-94 is not issued to regular Russian infantry. It's used by Spetznaz and security forces, which are not in CMBS.
  10. And remember that no matter how bad it is it can always get worse
  11. But the totally rational conspiracy theories will live on.
  12. I recall having some difficulty with a new game when I was sending the first turn, so what I do in that situation is I move the first file manually (cut and paste, not copy and paste because you want no files in either in or out folders) then begin using CMH when the opponent sends his first file back.
  13. You're probably better off migrating to CM Helper or Who's Turn Is It http://bit.ly/cm-helper http://www.lesliesoftware.com/products/WhoseTurnIsIt/index.html
  14. Ok, apples to apples this time. Best/Best BS Engine 3: BS engine 4:
  15. BAR gunner only (no Garand), area fire 200m, N=10, everything else same as last test Final Blitzkrieg v3: 14 shots per minute Final Blitzkrieg v4: 13.7 shots per minute Normandy v4: 13.1 shots per minute I'm done wasting my time with this.
  16. Black Sea Engine 4, Best/Best Draw distance is a little shorter than in FB, but it's not quite an apples to apples comparison. There are more trees in the BS frame. I dunno. BS looks about the same as it always has for me.
  17. I ended up doing this in Final Blitzkrieg since I had to test something else WW2 related anyways. Engine 3: Engine 4: In both shots the draw line is about where the halftracks are.
  18. Placebo effect strikes again BAR teams (Green, High, +1) firing at German squads at 200 meters. Engine 3: 22.8 rounds per minute total (BAR and Garand) N=13, high 25, low 21 Engine 4: 21.6 rounds per minute total, N=15, high 28, low 12
  19. The former. Howeve, the effect is not binary. Some types of C2 are better than others, and being in C2 in multiple ways is better than one. If you have command lines turned on the brighter the line the stronger the C2 effect.
  20. It's the armor quality. Combat Mission generally rates late war German armor at either 90% or 85%. These ratings are hidden in CM2 (they were listed in the unit stats in CM1) but they are there. WW2 Ballistics lists the KT front turret as 185mm at 10 degrees slope so we'll use that (I'm not sure what numbers the game uses). That translates to an effective resistance of 190.6mm against 90mm APCBC, but 190.6 x .85 is 162mm and 90mm M82 at 2800 fps penetrates 164mm at 500 meters.
  21. There actually is a large amount of randomness in spotting times.
  22. A precision arty strike has no spotting rounds. What you are describing sounds like a point target mission. IIRC T-90As have a thermal gunners sight and T-90AMs have a thermal commander's sight in addition which are unaffected by dust and normal smoke in the game.
  23. In reality. In Black Sea they would make a big difference. Tactical wargames by their nature exaggerate the importance of such things and some of Black Sea's quirks further exaggerate the consequence of thick frontal armor and the ability to penetrate that frontal armor.
