Testing the AI plan continues. Made a few tweaks to the Soviet OOB and associated AI plan. Its getting there. Takes a while to test the thing though.

From the German side I decided to recreate Fleugal's counter-attack, supported by a SPW company from III./ "Germania" at Jasienica.

Not so good for one unlucky Soviet defender/attacker...

 

The end may still be quite some time away, but at some point either the russian military or the russian economy will slide past the point of no return and things will degenerate rapidly.
 

"Next, on Survivor"  😃.  Looks like getting voted off the island is in full swing with all the firings and 'resignations' that are occurring.   And I imagine 'tribe mergers' are not a possibility?
**Edit - Survivor is a popular reality show in North America and my comment above is a reference to that.  Realized that other members may not be familiar with the show and hence, not understand my reference.

Wintergewitter in Garfagnana, 26 and 27 December 1944

This is a historical / semi-historical battle series nearly three years in the making that includes 6 scenarios aiming to reproduce some of the events that took place along the Gothic Line in the Serchio valley, northern Apennines, on 26 and 27 December 1944, known as Battle of Garfagnana and referred to by the Germans as Unternehmen Wintergewitter, Operation Winter Storm.

All modules needed.

This is not a campaign in the true sense. You will proceed to the next battle regardless of your performance, but your core force will still suffer losses as it progresses through the operation.

The six battles in order of appearance are:

IMPORTANT NOTE:

A huge thank you to @kohlenklau and @boygarvin. This battle series MUST be used in conjunction with their mods “Partizani-Buffalo-Alpini” (tagged), included in the zipped file.

The three mods used together change German Panzergrenadiers to Alpini, French free troops to Italian Partisans and regular US white-only troops to segregated black troops (the Buffalo Soldiers). If you don’t use them you will have French soldiers standing in for Italian partisans, and that’s a huge no-no in my world!

I can take a vacation for saying this but I had to get it off my chest.

Out of likes. All of it is excellent, but page nine of the spring edition has a very educational letter from a senior sergeant that would like to use a couple of defense contractors for targets on the main gun live fire course. He didn't put quite like that but his meaning was EXTREMELY clear...🤣
Edit: To put it another way the whiz bang stuff is only useful when it goes whiz and bang on command, every single time.

I find this to be highly dubious.

T-14 broke down at their victory sect parade a few years back and had to be towed (what a foreshadowing) - and only the best and most reliable models are usually used at parades.
Russian propaganda surely made T-14 and Su-57 look like an unstoppable force of nature, but the same they did to their whole army.

In response to the thread topic:
Honestly, coming from a mapper/scenario designer perspective, you don't need the fictional stories. Just give us the tools and the world will provide us the stories to create scenarios and campaigns from. The TO&E. The included equipment and the ability to modify things to suit the scenario designer/player, e.g. Professional Edition type capability. The toys, man! It's all about the toys!

Non-professional?!  Bil,..ouch.  Unpaid maybe.  There is a lot of professionals from a lot of fields here, it is what makes this whole thing work in my opinion.  That and "the professionals" really haven't done much better as far as I can tell...and I am being kind in some examples.

Steve, thanks for this post... just finished reading it, and it has some real nuggets that are applicable to my "day job".  Thank your buddy for his insights, and.. more detail like this please.

Never lost a battle but lost the war. M113 doesn't depend on bridges. 

Here's a link to all the maps I've done so far (I think, still scrounging). Some of them have AI and units in them, some of them don't. Some are in beta stages of completion and there's one map in there for CM BS, but nonetheless. Here it is.
