  1. I suspect part of the confusion lies in the concept that a 2.0 patch upgrade brings the game version up to 2.01 rather than 2.0. I certainly find that confusing and wonder why the patch isn't called the 2.01 patch? Regards KR
  2. What I'm trying to get my head around is whether the assumed future fire patch to CMBN & CMFI will also include all the extra units that can actually create fire by themselves. In this case I'm referring to flamethrower teams for all nations, German flamethrower halftracks, Wasps, Crocodiles etc, etc. Does that seem likely? Regards KR
  3. The game is probably confused with more present day vehicles, thinking it should be a Mazda 626, hence a blank icon. Regards KR
  4. I would have thought the Stalingrad setting would be the one place where you would definitely use it! Regards KR
  5. I'm with Michael on this one. Grrrrrr.... it is! Regards KR
  6. Shouldn't you be busy over in England recuperating from your bad back and doing other...... stuff? How you find time amongst your cricket leadership duties amazes me! Regards KR
  7. Well, I for one would definitely hope to see the M18 Hellcat included with the Market Garden module seeing as the AFV was available in NWE from about July onwards! Seeing as Market Garden is almost certainly going to be the last module for CMBN it should definitely be included for the June to September period that the CMBN family encompasses, expecially since it was hardly a rare, used in one engagement type of AFV. Regards KR
  8. Include me on that long list of people who would love to see this implemented. Regards KR
  9. I believe this was a deliberate choice on BFC's part in keeping with their Iron spotting proclivities. Regards KR
  10. Well, despite what everyone has been saying about GaJ's defence plan I'm starting to warm to it. Provided he doesn't lose that 2nd M10 he has quickly moved across the ridge he still has most of his major assets still intact, especially his infantry force. Bill is more than half way through his alloted time yet still has to tackle the bulk of GaJ's force while he's now second guessing what exactly his opponent does have to oppose his forces. Planting seeds of doubt is always a good thing when you're up against someone and as GaJ has pointed out, he has only lost territory he always intended to give up without much of a fight anyway. I'm not saying he's in a favoured position or anything seeing as there are still 2 hulking great Brumbars & an Elefant waiting to blow his forces away but he just may delay the attackers enough to come out with some sort of honourable draw or near to it type of result. Regards KR
  11. This sort of argument that death or injury could possibly arise from use of a Panzerfaust within a building is spurious to my mind. In case one forgets, there was a war on, so death or injury sort of comes with the territory. Sure, the chances of injury or death are possibly increased a tad when firing a Panzerfaust from within a building but the risk is more than likely a lot less then the risk of being injured or dying when there's a bloody great enemy tank in full view, just ready to use its main gun and MG's to blow you away if (when?) discovered. I also consider ArgusEye's link to the clip which shows a recoilless weapon being discharged within a building yet not even blowing out the windows from the alleged incredibly dangerous overpressure such a weapon causes is somewhat telling in the argument. Regards KR
  12. @JonS The AFV you're thinking of that mounted the modified 17 pounder gun was the Comet tank. The Challenger had the full size version of the 17 pounder but a very tall open topped turret in order to accomodate it. Personally, the Comet is one of my favourite tanks of WWII in terms of looks and function, seeing as it had quite a low profile for an AFV that was very fast yet still powerfully armed with it's very effective 'de-tuned' 17 pounder. Regards KR
  13. I await womble's typically indifferent dismissal of ArgusEye's post with interest. Regards KR
  14. Yup. Great initial reply post Badger73 but I thought it was pretty obvious that c3k was clearly joking with his subsequent post. Lest's face it, the Germans in WWII made it an art form building things that looked kewl but it didn't help them at all in the long run. Another way of looking at it is their almost fanatical devotion to over engineering things when the simpler solution is usually best when all things are considered. I'll concede there were exceptions. The V1 was a classic example of a really basic but deadly flying bomb. Regards KR
  15. Yes, it should work just fine. I have CMAK on my Windows 7 machine and it works well on it even without the Vista patch. There are very occasionally graphical glitches but they don't happen too often so I'm happy with the occasional annoyance of this without having to purchase the patch which then puts a DRM on the game. You may have to apply the patch for your system depending on how it handles the game but it's only $5, which I figure is reasonable to be able to play this great game despite the annoyance of a DRM that goes with it. I had to adopt this approach with my CMBB game which always had the graphical glitches with my system, no matter what. Regards KR
  16. I don't believe it would be correct to consider Volksgrenadiers as generally being at conscript level if that was your intended implication. Many of the Volksgrenadier divisions were reformed from previous Heer formations and certainly had their share of veterans in their ranks. Perhaps you were thinking of Volksturrn instead. There'd be absolutely no argument on that point. Regards KR
  17. I didn't notice the Hellfire missiles on those border protection drones. Are they serious about the problem or not? Regards KR
  18. With the above picture in mind, are we now inspired to use bones for different purposes now? Regards KR
  19. Yep, as I thought. An unbelievably long bow. Regards KR
  20. That's drawing an incredibly long bow with your analogy isn't it? One is a wartime situation, the other is the birth of a child with undertones of racial purity! What the fvck? Regards KR
  21. He'd almost certainly be just as dead then... only sooner. Regards KR
  22. Germany may well have been the bad guys but if you consider for one moment what the Luftwaffe pilot's decision led to, you might actually come to realise what an unbelieveably naive and idiotic one it was. If you put the boot on the other foot, would you have been happy if an RNZAF fighter pilot had deliberately decided not to shoot down a wounded Heinkel 111 which also appeared defenceless as it staggered back towards the French coast after having bombed London? The bottom line is that the German pilot's decision not to either shoot down the wounded enemy bomber or force it to land in occupied territory meant that this American pilot could continue to conduct further bombing raids on his fellow countrymen. In that respect his actions were most definitely treasonous seeing as it almost certainly contributed to his fellow citizens being killed in future bombing runs. Good guys or bad guys don't enter into it. Regards KR
  23. If only this sort of common sense approach was used in the CMx2 versions of the game. I'd be happy if they just allowed Panzerschreks to fire within buildings with a resultant potential adverse effect on morale or the structure or both, and exclude actual rocket propelled ordnance. That would at least be a reasonable compromise. Regards KR
  24. My guess is that the storage tanks will contain health pack power ups. Regards KR
  25. Bear in mind that the LOF drawn from the mortar unit will look as if it's blocked by being black in colour however you can still fire with the unit if the on screen message where the line is traced to is saying "Area Fire". You can bombard away to your hearts content provided the "Area Fire" message comes up, which it should for anywhere the HQ unit can spot. Regards KR
