Would that be in ATACMS range? If so the US should give the UA at least 2 a week from here on out. Yes, that makes Kerch bridge a very important target. RU may still be able to use the ports to unload supplies and troops. But kill a significant portion of supplies flow from Kerch bridge will cause a huge problem. And all those port terminals are also in ATACMS' range.
Battlefront
Apologies if this has already been posted but I'd like to mention that over the last several weeks I felt bombarded by news about how Ukraine was planning a counteroffensive in the south. Yes, get ready Russia, Ukraine is coming and they're going after Kherson, hoping to slug it out and recapture some ground near the Black Sea. They're focused and you'd better believe they're putting everything they have into it. This news was repeated for a week or more, like a drumbeat. Then BAM. Blitzkrieg up north. To Ukraine: well played, sir. They didn't just fool the Russians. They fooled the (largely) credulous media, which then helped fool the Russians even further.
sburke
Putin ‘fires army commander after just 16 days’ amid major losses in Kharkiv (msn.com) Quote Russia has fired an army commander just 16 days after he was appointed to his role, Ukraine has claimed, after Kyiv’s forces made major gains. Lieutenant General Roman Berdnikov was appointed to the position of commander of Russian army’s Western Military District on 26 August, replacing Lieutenant General Sychecvy. But he lasted little more than two weeks before being removed, according to the Defence Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence. Ukrainian credited the change in leadership to the “crushing defeats” by its troops in the Kharkiv region. The Ukrainian Ministry of Defence said the Russian troop group will now be headed by Lieutenant General Oleksander Lapin. Russia is yet to confirm any of these changes.
