Col Deadmarsh
MG would make a good Christmas present for me as I never bothered buying it (still haven't gotten bored of Base Game + Commonwealth). However, I was wondering what the main additions are with the game over the other two I mentioned. One of the things I was hoping for was scenarios which don't have bocage. I've found it really hard to find player-made scenarios on the fan sites which don't use this stuff for Normandy. Other than that, I'd like to hear if there were any major additions to this add-on that I might've missed.
JoMac
Just get 'MG, 'Scenario-Pack', & 'Vehicle-Pack'...It's all major enough. Sorry...I have elaborated too much on the above subject, and will just let you decide :-) Edited December 6, 2018 by JoMc67
PIATpunk
Quote One of the things I was hoping for was scenarios which don't have bocage. It's like going from too much cover to not enough! Definitely worth the purchase, there are plenty of scens where it's not just flat polder. Would also vote for getting the brilliant scenario pack by Jon Sowden, and the vehicle pack for extra authenticity.
Warts 'n' all
Just to say, the maps in MG aren't totally "Bocage" free. And in some cases they are used just as badly, i.e so close to a house that the people inside would never get any daylight through their windows. That said, it is still worth buying. Challenging campaigns, and plenty of great stand-alone battles.
Freyberg
I bought Commonwealth and the base game together and Market Garden soon after, so my recollection is muddled, but the British Paratroopers were new to Market Garden weren't they? And it had some wicked urban maps and scenarios...

Freyberg
Many of the QB maps in Market Garden were particularly nice too, especially in comparison to the QB maps in the base game of CMBN, which were often rather minimal.

Has anyone else noticed if the user-made scenarios for MG like those found on The Few Good Men have less bocage than those from the base game or Commonwealth? It's almost like a conspiracy between designers to use maps as flat as Texas while overloading each scenario with bocage. I'd really like to find some good H2H ones for MG that are more hilly without the bocage overload.

Granted Holland is flat... like really flat, but I never had this perception of a billiard table with hedgerows.
Warts 'n' all
We can't really blame the designers for the flattish maps in MG. The fault lies with the Germans for not putting up much of a fight around Valkensburg.

Warts 'n' all
Probably, in the east, the Balkans and Norway. I've not read a detailed account of US 1st Army's advance in early Sept '44. But I assume that the Germans felt unable to defend the entire line of the Maas in Limburg and decided to concentrate on Aaachen. Which of course, gives us a wonderful urban campaign to fight in CMFB.
John Kettler
And don't forget drainage ditches. CMBN never had them. Holland is pretty flat in the MG zone. Warts 'n' all
Is is "another name for the Netherlands". But, one that is used incorrectly. And as I was only being frivolous because JK likes to get everything spot on, I will leave it to others to find out why Gelderland is part of the Kingdom of The Netherlands, but NOT in Holland.

Ah - you guys do realize that those both cannot be right. Is this one of those cases where people refer to England when the mean the United Kingdom and it annoys the crap out of the Scots, the Welsh and the Irish? And when I say people I mean everyone in North America for a start
