    Before changing anything, you would need to first make a copy and save the hotkeys.txt file in your installation. Rename the original something like hotkeys-orig.txt. If you want to revert, then just trash your hotkeys.txt file and rename the original saved one.
    If you've already changed some things and want to revert and didn't save it, then just copy one from another CM installation.

    The magic words happy you don't think like that anymore. If a unit has LOF a full contact Icon pops up. Setting way points and plotting an LOF makes sense for area fire. Like your C2 gave an armored unit a contact icon in a house. Which a nearby infantry unit had a full contact with and is engaging. Now shooting the house into a rubble makes sense. It is what the game is all about let the TacAI play the game for you and don't replace the C2 structure with your PC. 
     
    If your unit receives a greater threat, it can override your orders. It shoots because it sees an enemy unit and nothing inside your target-arc.

    The manual could be a little clearer of how everything works. I call them the evade buttons.

    I can't do anything without it. If you have highlighted a waypoint, you press P a few times. Now the vehicle you want to pause was on hunt stopped to shoot the enemy to pieces. You revise your plans at the next turn. You need to push the green button to cancel the timed pause.

    I am fortunate, I have a human opponent to play Hotseat with and he has a similar background. TBH PBEM doesn't appeal us much. To make it really interesting you must have some house rules you can agree on. But PBEM could be nice if you get used to it. First of all, you must be in the mood for this game. To play Hotseat at least you can play a good defensive game. Once you have the right guess of the editor's AI battle plan it is game over. It happened with the first game of Highland Games in SF2.

    Ahh, another RO Player...I haven't played in a few years, but I remember some of the Older Players (I was old back then). 
    Sometimes, I would also play against the RO AI, but apparently you can't do that anymore, since things have changed since after 5.0 major update. Now, they are up to 8.0 or 10.0 or somefink like that in past couple years.

    Tips: First beat the AI on Veteran now work your way through to Elite or Iron. Then play a human player who knows what he or she is doing. Have a go at scenario editing then worry about mods. That's my workflow in CM. I am playing with editing and mods yes can look good but for now a solution to a non-existing problem. Yes it doesn't happen too often, but some scenarios have authors which can still beat me as an attacker.

    Variable extra time is not dependent upon scenario size.  It's strictly a function of whether or not the scenario designer added it or not.  There is a small scenario in CMFB where the scenario is 15 minutes long with 15 minutes of variable time added, for example.

    What @mjkernersaid - the scenario author has allowed for variable extra time.  These can be set in blocks of none, 0-5 minutes, 5-10 minutes and 10-15 minutes.  The program randomly sets a time within the selected block, so if it has been set to 0-5 minutes, the game can end at 1 minute, 2 minutes, 3 minutes, 4 minutes or 5 minutes.

    It's always possible to request a ceasefire to end a game that carries on longer than expected or when the player feels that he's either already lost or won the battle.
    The AI will always accept a ceasefire request and the game will finish with the end result screen showing.

    The scenario author put in  an extra time option as to the scenario length. The game randomly ends the game anywhere from 1 minute to up to X number of minutes after the “normal” time is up. You won’t know exactly how long that will be.

    Possibly because you are playing on Iron mode?  You can't see all of your units in Iron mode, that's the point of it.

    No way of doing that.
    Workaround is to just use the normal target arch to make the unit to hold fire until the enemy is in a optimal position for the RPG and then give the fire command or a new target arch. Rifle will still be used in this case.
    Or well, you could deplete all the firearm ammo with the "target light" command first. haha

    It goes alphabetical by file name. Last name's mod wins.
    BTW, I think the Steam placement of the Z folder on the last page is wrong. I bet it needs to be in the Data/ folder, not the top level game folder.

    Fanatical troops will usually die in place because... they're fanatics. The lower the morale the lower the ability to control them.

    you can use the pause command (one of the three circles on your HUD) and I'm pretty sure they won't move at all.
