I've played all TW titles aside from the first Medieval and first Shogun, and Rome 2 and the new Chinese one. Of the rest, Napoleon was my favorite. I feel like gunpowder is a sweetspot, much more tactical than melee.  Shogun 2 was interesting because it was a mix of gunpowder and steel. I really liked Attila too. Great campaign.
But ya know what, despite my affinity for history, and despite my bias, I ended up trying Warhammer. Fantasy TW didn't interest me. Even back in the Med 2 days with the Middle Earth mod, I ignored it despite it's popularity (Stanless Steel mod was the one I played). But now I rate Warhammer 2 as the best TW title. Some dismiss it because it is not historical, but I'm glad I stopped doing that. The 'factionality' as I like to call it is amazing. Each faction is so unique, and that means everything. Tech trees, mechanics, units, special abilities. Replayability is sky high on WH2, and especially combined with WH1 in to one, huge, epic campaign.
Back on topic, Feyr, which Combat Mission title are you looking at here? You asked about turn based and I said it's WEGO, which, if you're not familiar, means both sides execute their turns simultaneously. Orders are issued, and there is a 60-second stage where each side carries them out. It then stops for the next round of orders. After 20 years it's still a brilliant system.

I usually say this when people say that CM games are expensive:

I have lots of games that have cost me 20 or 30 $ - and I have played them less than 10 hours. Then there´s CMBN. It costs far more, but it has given me thousands of hours of gameplay - and still does.  So when it comes to price per hour of gameplay, CMBN is by far the cheapest game I ever bought.
Like the others, I recommend you try the demos: If you like playing them, then you have found a game that you probably wont get tired of for a very long time.

All that interests me is the smoke of burning T-34's on the horizon.  The more, the merrier. And that winter camo looks cool too.
But I like your screenshot too, Ales. 😀

Warhammer Total War has a free campaign that requires ownership of both WH:TW1 and WH:TW2. This could be the same. Except the free part. No new game needed.

For me, an engine update with more performance in big maps ( and bigger than the current) with a lot of units and objects in CMx3 would be sufficient to enlarge the scale of the simulation

A "stable and prosperous society" does not need to put huge portions of its population in gulags or to starve them to death...so I guess you are saying that all of that was the fault of "fascists or capitalists."  Or do you mean that all of those who suffered and died under the Communists deserved it, because they were "fascists and capitalists"? If so, I hope you stay out of politics.

This is Communist apologism, plain and simple. It caused as much misery as it's criminal cousin, called nazism and helped Hitler get his filthy claws on the European Jews. So don't play the innocent.

Backstory?  Strategic objectives?  Counterfactual? ........... Why?
The more complicated this is the less likely it would be worth while to do.
Port over CMRT Soviet TOE into CMFB.   Then sell it.

I was merely pointing out that the Soviets did not accomplish their victory on their own - as the Soviet propagandists implied for many years. It is indisputable that the lion's share of German forces were always deployed in the east. And "Europe" was not really liberated (unless you are referring to the period 1989-91) - one occupying terror regime simply replaced another in eastern Europe. Ironic that the British Commonwealth went to war originally to prevent Poland from being subjugated by Nazi Germany, but ended up acquiescing to Poland's subjugation by Stalin's Soviet Union.

Without Lend-Lease the Soviets would have lost - regardless of a Second Front.
"Now they say that the allies never helped us, but it can't be denied that the Americans gave us so many goods without which we wouldn't have been able to form our reserves and continue the war," Soviet General Georgy Zhukov said after the end of WWII.
"We didn’t have explosives, gunpowder. We didn’t have anything to charge our rifle cartridges with. The Americans really saved us with their gunpowder and explosives. And how much sheet steel they gave us! How could we have produced our tanks without American steel? But now they make it seem as if we had an abundance of all that. Without American trucks we wouldn’t have had anything to pull our artillery with." https://www.rbth.com/defence/2016/03/14/lend-lease-how-american-supplies-aided-the-ussr-in-its-darkest-hour_575559
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"By the end of June 1944 the United States had sent to the Soviets under lend-lease more than 11,000 planes; over 6,000 tanks and tank destroyers; and 300,000 trucks and other military vehicles...
We have also sent to the Soviets about 350 locomotives, 1,640 flat cars, and close to half a million tons of rails and accessories, axles, and wheels, all for the improvement of the railways feeding the Red armies on the Eastern Front. For the armies themselves we have sent miles of field telephone wire, thousands of telephones, and many thousands of tons of explosives. And we have also provided machine tools and other equipment to help the Russians manufacture their own planes, guns, shells, and bombs.
We have supplied our allies with large quantities of food. The Soviet Union alone has received some 3,000,000 tons."

This is not even including the immense amount of material sent by The British Commonwealth.
*All this being said, I would also like to see an updated Barbarossa, just would like to see Afrikakorps first.

Well, I couldnt help myself, so I set up a test:

10 Panzerschreck teams (all veteran) vs 10 immobilized Shermans facing away from the Panzerschrecks, set up in "firing lanes" divided by walls, so each team could only engage "their own" Sherman. Distance: 195-200 metres.
I ran the test three times, so in total I tested 30 schrecks vs 30 Shermans.

    Result:
Hit with first shot:                             5 teams
Hit with second shot:                       10 teams
Hit with third shot:                             8 teams
Hit with fourth shot:                           4 teams
Hit with fifth shot:                              1 team
Hit with sixt shot:                               0 teams
No hits with any of the six shots:      2 teams

    Mission to Maas V2.btt

Updated huge scenario Axis KG Peiper versus Allies.
Semi Historical based on the actions over 4 days around La Gleize and Stoumont, condensed into a 4 hour period.
4 hours, gives plenty of time. But need to balance force preservation with speed to secure objectives, avoiding enemy artillery and fighting off counter attacks.
Controlling 700 troops and over 50 vehicles is not for the feint hearted
    Improvements over Version 1
Improved road layout near Coo and through La Gleize, so game engine doesn't re-route units behind buildings . Ground conditions now allow for more off-road manoeuvre with minimal risk of breakdown, although beware of mines. Some building layouts have been improved. Found Grilles! and added some German recon. German TRP setup is now at the front of the Spitze rather than inconveniently hidden in the woods! 5 action plans, with variable arrival time for USA reinforcements give more replay ability. Start time is 08:30am which provides darkness and poor visibility for the first 15-30 minutes.
    Why go large?
Operational type decisions on when and where to attack / defend with which company optional march routes route security, flank recon, patrols, early warning  creation of mobile reserve to respond to threats etc command challenges, do I move to counter that threat or temporarily withdraw to fight again? Deeper understanding of your own force strengths, weakness, mobility, firepower, combined arms Visual. Attack and counter attack over the same ground lets you fight past burnt out vehicles and damaged buildings, that are reset if occurring in a campaign Not many scenarios produced on this scale, probably for good reason Many thanks to the guys who commented on version 1,  much appreciated, hope you find this an improved experience.
