    THE BASIC PROBLEM:
I'm sure that you've all noticed over the years that this scenario plays itself out over and over:
Person A: "Hey, does anyone still have X for $Insert_Game_Name$ ?"
Person B: "Yeah sure, here, let me put it up on my webspace or on a random download server like Mega.NZ"
    <five years pass>
Person C enters the thread and gets excited.
Person C "The link doesn't work anymore!"

Person C "Hey, does anyone still have X for $Insert_Game_Name$ ?"
A Potential Solution: Might be with the Internet Archive. It's funded by a foundation and they seem to be relatively durable; so they're the closest thing to archival on-line storage we might see for some time.
With that in mind, I've been slowly working on a project for the last month to quasi bring back the old Wargamer.com scenario archive back from the dead -- and that's morphed into a general archiving program for old game mods and such.
Naturally, I did the Combat Mission x1 series.

    <five years pass>
Person C enters the thread and gets excited.
Person C "The link doesn't work anymore!"
    *pause*
Person C "Hey, does anyone still have X for $Insert_Game_Name$ ?"
A Potential Solution: Might be with the Internet Archive. It's funded by a foundation and they seem to be relatively durable; so they're the closest thing to archival on-line storage we might see for some time.
With that in mind, I've been slowly working on a project for the last month to quasi bring back the old Wargamer.com scenario archive back from the dead -- and that's morphed into a general archiving program for old game mods and such.
Naturally, I did the Combat Mission x1 series.

For most systems roughly at this point the performance investment starts to steeply increase. It is very map size dependant
Improved ist the sweet spot for me as I don´t want to tinker around with the setting before every scenario and it should cover a wide range of recent gen systems with a good performace base, +/- as one sees fit. With my new battleship I could go higher but high fps - especially fluid camera movement/panning - are priority for me.
So on smaller maps and/or with a powerful system one can go higher for sure, some max it out on bigger maps aswell as they might favor better terrain/tree draw distance but the fps impact can be tremendous. I´ve seen players being content with what appeared to be 15fps why others aim for the tripple/quadruple of this.
Eventually - as often - it comes down to personal preference.

    After patch 211:
    - the left ammo-pouch of the sturmgewehr-troopers are still not visible

    - I believe that the Schwimmwagen should only have 4 occupants. The fifth person sits very uncomfortably in any case.

Here's what it looks like in (modded) CMBN...

... I imagine the CMBN Italy Mod (recently put up by @Bootie in its entirety) would be a good fit.

I tried a quick hex edit to get the map into CMFI but it didn't work (presumably units will have to be deleted).

Saving one out of four isn't a bad result... but it does make one hope the other three maps are still out there somewhere.

Bloody Ride Panther and Halftrack Foliage Camo Pack (CMWW2):

    - was made for a Bloody Ride campaign playthrough in mind, so not all Panther and Halftrack models are done.
    - should work with all WW2 games where this Panther and Halftrack models are present
    - modular, you can remove vehicle version you don´t want to modify (for example only camo specific support halftracks etc.)
3D Foliage Camo German Helmet (Experimental)

    - it seems there are some texture amount limitation when modding helmets, status quo is that the foliage adapts the helmet texture. Didn´t find out yet how to overcome. So only woodland/green/camo helmet textures should be used alongside it. See previous videos model tutorial videos for details. I recommend to stick with the "classic" texture based camo mods by other authors.
    M8 (Mid) Foliage Camo

This camo mods should work with all CMWW2 games where the vehicle versions are present. The foliage camo also adapts to winter snow.

There was no good reason to keep the men together in the absence of shock cavalry... not that it really matters as I doubt how often the US Civil War was really fought by "lines of men" anyway.

Stories about "Marching Lines of men" during the gunpowder era tend to be exagerrated myths... for instance French "Column" tactics were not at all like what is usually portrayed in movies & books*, the British Infantry at the Somme did not "walk at a steady pace" out of their trenches** & most US Civil War Battles involved (poorly motivated) men taking long ranged pot shots at each other from ditches or behind fences or walls (or, eventually, field fortifications).

In essence, BFC would just need to give the CMFI Italians really poor rifles & artillery.
Still, I'd love BFC to reinvent 'Age of Rifles'...

*French Soldiers did NOT fight like this
**Well actually a dozen battalions did do so... although that was because they were, often succesfully, following creeping barrages.

Here is a record of what I got from a very fine gentleman who I will respect his overall privacy. He retired as a colonel in the Finnish Army. He served as a UN peacekeeper. He works at a Finnish military museum. I wish I could go and shake his hand. AND THERE IS MORE! This guy's Dad served in WW2 and had bullets hit him on 2 different occasions. Once from Soviet weapons. Another time from German weapons.
These are the basic CM artillery commands. In each military with a different language, there are interesting differences in how they get the basic concepts across. My starting point was to tell him what was said in English as the US Army terms and method for the artillery support sequences portrayed in CM using the voice files. Then he would give me what must be said in Finnish
    *******************************************************************
PHRASE 1*: GROUP 1 SAYS: "REQUEST FIRE MISSION, OVER"

    TULIKOMENTOJA, KUUNTELEN   (firecommands - listen)

*PHRASE 2:* GROUP 2 REPLIES: "FIRE MISSION REQUEST RECEIVED, OUT"

    TULIKOMENTOJA, VALMIS (firecommands, ready)

*PHRASE 3:* GROUP 2 SAYS "ADJUST FIRE, OVER" (Here the game simulates
     some spotting to get accuracy)

Does this mean to fire once and see where is the hit?
We call it HAKUAMMUNTA - search fire

If you fire once you say
MAALI MEKKA (TARGET and the name of it is MEKKA) KERTA AMPUKAA
same as TARGET MEKKA, ONCE, FIRE

If you only aim to the target
MAALI MEKKA (TARGET and the name of it MEKKA) SUUNTAA
suuntaa – to aim the target

What is the difference ”adjust fire, over or out”?

*PHRASE 4:* GROUP 2 SAYS "ADJUST FIRE, OUT" (Spotting is conducted by
     infantry/FO)

We have always the fire plan, all the targets are named and measures before. So we only give the name of the target and which effect we want.

    * PHRASE 5:* GROUP 1 SAYS "FIRE FOR EFFECT, OVER" (the adjustments are
    not mentioned)
    TORJUNTA MEKKA ,  AMPUKAA

The targets can be ESTE - ”obstacle” or TORJUNTA - ”repel, repulse”. Depends how many shells per minute you want. Torjunta or repulse is the most effective fire during 1-2 minutes.

AMPUKAA or SUUNTAA means also OVER

    * PHRASE 6:* GROUP 2 THEN SAYS "FIRE FOR EFFECT, ROGER" (they confirm
that spotter FO is happy with adjustments and now come the rounds)

    TORJUNTA MEKKA, AMPUKAA

    * PHRASE 7:* GROUP 1 MIGHT HAVE TO STOP FIRE AND SAYS "CHECK FIRE, CHECK > FIRE, CHECK FIRE!" (3 times, emergency)

(simply)  TULI SEIS (stop the fire)

    * PHRASE 8:* GROUP 2 CONFIRMS THEIR REQUEST "ROGER, CHECK FIRE, END OF MISSION" (game simplifies that mission is over)

    TULI SEIS – TULITAUKO (firepause)

    * PHRASE 9:* IF NO EMERGENCY, THEN MISSION NATURALLY ENDS AND GROUP 2

Usually I speak Peacekeepers' English. It means 50 % with hands. I try to translate some Finnish.

I have some almost autentic commands in Tali Ihantala battle in 1944
    It's a Movie ”Tali – Ihantala 1944”

    Basic words
    Tulenjohtaja (tja) – forward observer
Tulenjohtokomentaja (tjkom)  - commanding forward observer, who coordinates the whole firepower

Name of the targets which really were in Ihantala July 1944 ”KARKIMO”, ”MEKKA”

Code of tja FO was  KARHU KAKSI (BEAR 2)
Code of the tjkom  was OTTO YKSI (OTTO 1)

TULIKOMENTO(JA) – Tuli – fire, komento – command(s). This is always opening command to ask fire. (fire request)
KUUNTELEN – I listen or OVER
TORJUNTA is it repel or repulse? How ever the most effect fire 1 to 3 minutes so fast as possible to the ready measured target(s)
    AMPUKAA – FIRE

    Act One in movie
Tulenjohtaja (tja) – Forward Observer comes to the batallion command post. At the same time orderly from the frontline company comes and says ”Company commander asked fire to the front.

FO -Tja says to the radio ”OTTO YKSI KARHU KAKSI, KUUNTELEN

TULIKOMENTO TORJUNTA KARKIMO AMPUKAA, TORJUNTA KARKIMO AMPUKAA

and fire of 21 batteries and one heavy battery, 254 tubes, fired to the same targets.

    Act two in movie
Company commander and forward observer name the ”barrier”targets as MEKKA 1 and MEKKA 2. Botht together KOKO MEKKA – whole mekka

When the attack starts FO commands first ”TULIKOMENTOJA, MEKKA 1, AMPUKAA”
Because it wasn't effective enough, soon had to give new one !KOKO MEKKA  AMPUKAA”

Started a briefing for one of the CMFI Kreta 1941 mini-mod scenarios coming out in late May. Today is April 26th! 80th Anniversary of Operation Hannibal is today! Whadya know!
CMFI KRETA 1941 MINI-MOD SCENARIO "SILK DROP"
    ^
Operation Hannibal. It is 0735 on Saturday, April 26, 1941. The sun is just rising and it is still slightly cool. From the sidewindows of your Ju-52, the weather is clear with a light wind from the sea to the southeast. You are Oberleutnant Paul Brand, in command of your company of German Fallschirmjager. Your mission is to start in just a moment as you and your men parachute down into the Greek countryside near the town of Kavos. A few kilometers away at the Corinth Canal Bridge, other Fallschirmjagers have landed by gliders just 10 minutes earlier. Secure Kavos and the southern approach to the Corinth Canal Bridge. Block all attempts by the enemy to interfere with our main force at the bridge.
    ^
Your Fallschirmjager Kompanie contains a high proportion of veterans of the 1939 Polish campaign and the 1940 assault at Fort Eben-Emael. You are at full strength but you are on your own. You have no fire support: no mortars, no artillery, no Stukas.
    ^
The British units covering this area of Greece are believed to be Australian or New Zealand troops. Infantry units with limited support. No enemy armor is expected.
    ^
The British are here by trucks and might have some heavy weapons at their disposal. Kavos is not expected to be garrisoned by more than a platoon.
    ^
You have around 30-40 minutes to complete your mission. The enemy has a marked exit zone that represents them getting through to the bridge. You have a variety of hidden touch objectives. You have ONE large RED set up zone. Preserve your force, locate and neutralize any enemy encountered. Set up blocking positions as appropriate. Don't let a single Tommy get through to the bridge!

So, over in the CMRT F&R thread, we had BFC Steve show up a few times to make posts. In the quoted section above, we see the important statement from BFC that they will never get to do Crete. Hello...😎
RL issiues have prevented me from buying a new gaming computer for almost two years now...But finally...things are sorted and i'm currently typing on my new machine.
I initially did not plan for this to be a full scenario but rather a practice session to get back into AI programing. But one thing led to another and this ended up as a full
scenario. The AI will be leading an American force of two reinforced infantry platoons against player controlled unconventional forces.
I wanted to try out how i could program a small force with pretty much each individual squad, vehicle and special team as its own dedicated AI group. So i did just that. This scenario will use all 16 AI groups. The map is one of the stock QB-maps...
    From the briefing...
    "Situation
    Mars 15 2015, Syria
Late last night a small ISIS faction know to the americans as 'The Bad Boys' abducted the local clan leader Abu Bel Air from his residence outside of Beir al-Zour. Through a combination of local informants and information provided by the CIA the american troops got wind of the
terrorist groups plans to publically execute Abu Bel Air at 20.00 mars 15. This man is one of the more liberal leaders in the area and his wiew on Islam is a far strech from that of 'the bad boys'. Because of this he is considdered an infidel by the 'boys' and deservs nothing else then
a cruel ending. The allies on the other hand have great hopes for this man and intend to se him as one of the future leaders of this area. His death would be a severe blow to allied plans.
Being heavely engaged elsewhere though means that only very limited allied forces can be allocated to this rescue mission. Time is of the essence. A small american force consisting of a reduced company is all that is avaliable for the operation.
Simularely 'the bad boys' will also be light on firepower as the majority of their fighting men are away on other duties.
The question is will the americans be able to free Abu Bel Air from the prison before 'the bad boys' manages to reinforce their limited troops that are avaliable to oppose the armericans advance. Time is working against the americans they need to work fast.
    Mission:
Akif Bishara ! You, as a section leader of The Bad Boys, will have a difficult task before you. Our plans to publically execute the treacherous dog Abu Bel Air later tonight has been betrayed by one of our own men. The americans are aware of our plans and have gathered a force to try and
rescue this faitless man. Unfortunatelly our forward observation post have failed to spot the american force approaching. We just got word of their intentions a few minutes ago. This is bad news indeed ! The bulk of our fighters are currently away on other tasks and will not be avaliable to defend
against this american aggretion. As for troops...The only thing that is currently avaliable are some of our newest recruits that until recently where resting at their homes. The alarm call went out five minutes ago.
These men are barely trained at all and carry only light weapons. However ! this is what you have got and you will need to make best use of them until further reinforcements can reach you.
Word has gone out to your brother, Fahrid, among others. Fahrid and his heavy vehicles (BMP1 + 2 APCs) are currently in the area of Baghiliyan and will be making his way here as fast as possible.
Other reinforcements from all over town are also trying to reach you at full speed. These reinforcements will mostly be in the form of small fighter groups supported by a few armed pick-up trucks. Any heavier equipment will have to wait until Fahrid gets here.
You are free to commit the avaliable reinforcements as soon as they arrive.
    Friendly forces:
As mentioned above you initialy only have a small number of new recruits avaliable to stall the americans. Better trained and equiped troops are on the way to you at full speed. These will include the groups lead by Hadem, Karem and Nazimuddin. These fighter groups have some limited support in the form of
armed pick-up trucks. Trucks or no truck we will still be at a severe firepower dissadvantage against the well equiped amaricans. You need to use your troops accordingly.
    Plan:
As we have been caught by supprise by the enemy advance our situation is truely bad. Non of our troops are deployed in any beneficial tactical possition and given the devestating firepower of the americans any repossitioning will be difficult. Appart from the bombed out buldings the terrain is primarely
flat and with limited vegitation. Movement will be difficult. Trying to engage the enemy at long range will be futile. you will need to try and get your men into possition to be able to ambush the americans at short range if you are to have any chans. Your RPGs will probably be your best weapon.
make a note of wich teams are armed with this weapon. The reinforcing troops will be somewhat more well equiped with these RPGs and also be slightely better trained. As for Fahrid he is not expected to arrive for quite some time yet. He actually might not even make it here in time.
Apart from guarding the prision we can also assume that whoever betrayed our plans to kill Abu Bel Air will most likely also have shared with the americans the locations of the bomb workshop and our weapon storage warehouse. We can expect that the enemy, if given the oppertunity, will try to destroy these
buildings using democharges. These buildings will also need to be guarded.
    Notes:
On a more possitive note. The americans seems to be fairly lightly equiped. No AFVs have been reported and the skies, atleast for now, is clear from enemy airsupport. This looks like a light infantry unit that is approaching us and the only spotted support are a number of humvees. Expect these troops to attack immidiatelly.
Our best guesses have put the american strenth at a reduced company, maybe only two platoons. The humvees armed with the grenade launchers will pose the greatest threat to your troops. Destroying these Humvees will be seen with possetive eyes from the higher leadership.
As an additional note. Remember that Abu Bel Air is an old man and after our recent interigation he will not be i great shape. Even if the americans manages to free him he will not be able to move fast. Even if freed we might be able to kill him on the run."

Aquila-SmartWargames reacted to benpark in Low-Visibility Grey/Red Icons for FR
This icon mod is a low visibility icon set for RT/FR for people that spend lots of time at ground-level, or near it and find the icons can sometimes be distracting from what's happening on-screen.
Soviets are dark red, Germans grey with an option for grey-green. Opacity is something like 40% of original.
I generally plan big orders at start, then mainly stay near the ground level. The icons were getting in the way. These are more low-key for the ground-level player.
Harder to see, at times from higher heights but still there- that's a given. These are tailored to where I almost can't see them, but still can- almost out of the way, but still providing the needed information. Soviets are a bit tough to see in the red Setup zones, but are good once the game starts.
Probably will work with stock RT, but I can't go backwards from FR now.
I'm attempting to attach them here, until I can figure out where to upload stuff now (Mod site seems down)...
