  1. Sherman Tank ambush, they were scared the Panther would shoot backAccording the 'Chieftain' it was hard to bail out of a Panther, these guys did it under 30 seconds.
  2. Bail Out, Disembark Commands. Problems an experienced crew can't replace a green or conscript crew. Truck drivers can't acquire munitions from their truck as they bailed out from an undamaged truck. But a driver from a halftrack can. Nothing dramatic but putting dots on the i's or cross the f and t's would make the game more realistic.
  3. The Korean War applied the lessons of the 2nd World War. One tactic was 'Lure and Trap'. Let the enemy break through and has a pincher movement ready to trap him. Battle of the Bulge worked out that way, I don't know, or it was intentional.
  4. Do you ever do 'back chaining' when using the movement command? People usually do forward chaining only. It makes the process a lot let tedious.
  5. Recon is finished go to the fridge and open a stubby of beer. Think it over for three hours what to do next. Nah tomorrow morning is better. Wonder why that crack unit panicked they had only one dead and three wounded.
  6. I did it in BN CW Seven Winds, little innovation.
  7. The German economy was coal-based, and oil was no problem for the Soviets and the western allies. After El Alamein and Case Blue in the Caucasus it was time to negotiate their way out. People always quote the fuel consumption of the German cats. Could they provide the logistics for 40000 panzer IV's? Don't let us mention the half a million rolling stock required. Clever tactics is invalid if you can't achieve the strategic objectives. Good thing we have a tactical game.
  8. Basically, I agree. The 20th century the century Europe imploded. World War 1 and 2 was the same conflict as World War 1 ended in an armistice which was not sustainable. The 2 superpowers England and France ended up as second rate in regards world politics and Germany in ruins at the end. Now we witness the end of the American century anyway it is up to them to sort out their domestic issues. We witness everyday their version of Punch and Judy or Jan Klaasen en Katrijn in Dutch. I better don't discuss politics on this site.
  9. A smart dictator would engineer a war between the US and Russia. What did he do instead? He invaded one and declared war on the other.
  10. It maybe an improved internet gameplay a cloud option by subscription. My guess only.
  11. As defender to be able to withdraw in the last 15 minutes of a game. Final objective for the attacker which is the exit objective for the defender. To expect to wipe out a numerically superior enemy is perhaps a tat unrealistic.
  12. Red Thunder I find it easier to play Germans I must admit and enjoy playing for Russians too.
  13. We neither model white phosphor and high explosives vs armor.
  14. Yes, I agree if the FO with his 'Laser System' and the best binoculars money can buy would spot the pillbox the sniper 10 yards away from him did a turn before, what could happen? I think and I say think, the game algorithm could not be working that way. The FO can call an artillery or airstrike and has little risk to be spotted in turn. The sniper who made the full contact could run a greater risk to be spotted. The best way not to be frustrated is run a data base of what seems to work and what doesn't. I done one with scouts. I know how to plot a route for a scout, his company can use to advance. He will spot if he is lucky enemy armor or enemy units on the move. His prime function is pathfinding.
  15. I tested this method by playing on 'Hotseat' against myself. Even if I plot an LOS to a known enemy position and use an experienced spotter the game doesn't reveal an enemy position. Therefore, the function of the scout is pathfinder by finding the most secure route to the objective or by finding spotting and firing positions. Once you get to the attrition stage of the game you enemy will come out second best.
  16. For what it is worth. Plot a waypoint with a move command highlight and plot a fire near a position you wish to move a scout to. From your first waypoint plot a second waypoint using the hunt command to the position you plotted your LOS to. Now drag your first waypoint near the waypoint of your hunt command. Move the unit you wish to use and plot a route as secure as possible. Warning some games become boring using this method.
  17. Now they have Vladimir Putin ends well all is well. They are great chess players, good in ballet and some tremendous singers. Like a drink and a good joke. Apart from the ballet the same can be said about the US.
  18. That's why you need a human opponent. Outposts to get the intel of the location of the advancing enemy and plot a counterattack with the objective to separate infantry from their armor. The macromanagement is beyond the scope of the current engine. Playing as German against an attacking AI is no problem. Communication is the Achilles Heel of the Soviets in WW2. As German your defense needs to be mobile as you pointed out foxholes and trenches can quickly be dealt with. FR Mountains of the Moon and FR Red Dawn are excellent scenarios to deal with a static (German) defense.
  19. I rate Soviet infantry fairly high in CM. Just the right mix with bolt and automatic weapons. Once a German unit is located, they better consider a tactical retreat. Just like this guy very athletic.
  20. Very considerate to put on the Russian translation for 'Achtung Minen'. Would be nice if we get qualified medics in CM.
  21. A barrel is also a fuel tank, but we don't say a fuel barrel and a barrel is not always a tank. but tanks have barrels but not for fuel. No worries originally English was also a second language for me.
  22. It was possible in the 'Main Event' Battle of Normandy. Result the FO was credited with three casualties. Same with HMG and LGM these are suppression weapons. With an IFV it's easy I just do it when a friendly unit is suppressed. A linear target selection is called fire in enfilade. This was all discussed before putting tactics in the engine which are not successful is just a waste of time. Look at the pillboxes in Normandy they are not anything like they showed in saving private Ryan. One side is shielded from the sea and constructed to give enfilade fire. Here is a good video about MG tactics.
  23. I know a person who lost his eye by attempting to shoot a rat with a .22 LR rat shot cartridge.
