Can tell you from long and bitter experience that vehicles can and will bog on dry ground.  Not only that, they can and will Immobilize! If you have a high end AFV, that's the one this will happen to--with its flank exposed, no less. Contrariwise, if your oppnent had one it will kill everything of value, starting with your Combat Mission hopes and dreams, while being immune to anything you try to do to it.

Well for all those that moan about moving large numbers of vehicles down roads in CM as being a tedious and drawn out exercise at least now know that CMBS delivers hard core realism.

Those have nothing to do with how German material is of low quality. They are just part of the game which all suffer from.
Line of sight is often very strange in the game and vehicles often get stuck in a little splash of mud for no reason at all.

    MikeyD et al.,

At least in some competitive group format, the Nabla System, the brainchild of our own Jarmo Hurri (Nabla) and Mike Meinecke back in the CMx1 days, was specifically built for imbalanced and even sure loss scenarios, because the metric wasn't how you did in absolute terms, but in how you did relative to everyone else playing your side in that particular scenario. Instead of obsessing over how unfair the scenario was, the player on the feces covered end of the stick instead focused on not just combat performance but force preservation and especially evacuating unhorsed AFV crews and prisoners, since both counted double points in assessing your individual performance. No longer was it a fight to the last tank and last grunt. See no reason why what worked great in CMx1 wouldn't do just as well in CMx2

Morale is probably an effect of the conditions that they're fighting in; give them better conditions and their morale would be better.

To get a good approximation of Russians in CMBS go look for those Youtubers who decided to give the Steam CM franchise a spin without ever having played the game before. A lot of 'How does this work?', 'Oh! I just blew up!', 'Oh no, my men are dying!' and 'I'll just run him into the middle of the field and..."

Sure they are but more like the ones that beat us.  And I am not talking ideology or character but will to fight.  The Taliban fought an insurgency for 20 years against NATO and never thought of tapping out.
Given what I have seen so far the Ukrainians might be even more hardcore, which is even more bad news for the Russians.

If the transfer of planes is going to occur, could get into an almost Battle of Britain feel to it .  One important aspect of that historical success was that shot down British pilots were parachuting into friendly territory unlike the Germans.  Same situation could apply here.

I disagree. Evidence is beginning to emerge that these systemic issues are creating real issues in the minutiae; T72B3s and T90s entering battles with six or seven ammo types, many of them wildly outdated, etc. In CMBS, if modelled, that would translate into a real degradation of Russia's ability to kill hard threats. This is just one example, they're coming so hard and fast that it's dizzying.
Ultimately, to declare all these issues as "operational" is hand-waving away real criticism. Having a ****ty plan conducted hastily doesn't ultimately speak to things like "do Russians have peer equipment" or "can a Russian motor rifleman actually conduct a reaction to fire and have faith in his NCO." These are systemic issues, as I said, and that does ultimately have visible knock-on effects in the tactical plane.
At this rate, the SF2s Syrian OPFOR is better - and again, you can indeed help it. Crank those numbers down in future battlepacks - still time to change the incoming campaigns and standalones ;).

Internationalism is not that. Internationalism is opposite to nationalism. It is a belief that humans of all races and nations are equal and have common interests.

    Nope. Sort-of. No.

CMBS is set in 2017, and there's more to be gained from respecting that setting than speculating on a near-future one - there's more information available, for a start. Whether there will be changes in the 2014 TO&E to reflect the reality of 2017 Russia is a different story - that happened with CMSF 2, certainly.

This is false dichotomy: you support Putin or you support Ukrainian government! If you note crimes of Ukrainian ultra right government, then you support invasion and destruction of independent state. No. Military threats don't excuse government, that committed many crimes against own people, prohibits opposition political parties and media. But this doesn't justify aggression against this country either. I hope that situation will deescalate.

    More from the article:
Maybe Ukraine should try doing some thinking for itself.
Seems to me like the west (& especially their media) are fully ready to fight Russia, right down to the last Ukrainian.

They should have "skipped" putting someone who was four stops short of Dagenham East into power in the first place. And remember children, don't trust a guy who hangs around pubs and never drinks beer.

This may belong in an already open thread, in which case my apologies for starting an unnecessary one, but I am pressed for time at the moment and can't spend a lot here yet. But I did want to bring friends and colleagues up to date.
On December 20th. I suffered a fall which fractured my upper right arm and had to spend the next three months in a nursing facility more or less incommunicado. I only arrived back home Monday and am scrambling to pick up where I left off. I had for instance 751 emails waiting for me which I have so far only managed to put a small dent in.
Anyway, expect to hear more from me in the future. For some inexplicable reason, I missed you guys.

The simplest way I can explain it is that with your first choice you have a 33% of picking the right curtain, so the chance is 67% you are wrong. Since your choice is now binary, changing your choice flips the odds. So you aren’t flipping 50/50, you are flipping 33/67.

This is a well-known mathematical problem. The solution is also perfectly known. civdiv is right although intuition suggests otherwise. But strict probability calculus is absolute. Don't forget that the knowledge of the person opening the curtains and knowing from the beginning what is behind each curtain also comes into play. This person opens one of them because he knows beforehand that it is empty.

Sorry Sgt, this is called ‘The Monty Hall Problem’ and is fairly famous. Wiki has an article on it. Lots of PhDs wrote scathing letters saying the solution was wrong. One had to watch a computer do this problem thousands of times before he admitted he was wrong.
The bottom line is that if you switch your choice the only way you lose is if you originally picked the right curtain, which you have a 33% chance of doing.
