BFC already mentioned several times in the past they will NEVER do Battle of France 1940 ... 🙄 ... though as we say : only stupids never change their minds 😁

Bogging in CMx2 has always been on the light side. I worked on a scenario for the last CMFB module and set the ground conditions as “muddy” to force players to stay on the roads, but even when the AI moved AFVs cross country, there was very little bogging.
To minimize chances of bogging, 1) check the off-road rating; 2) check the ground conditions and 3) watch your speed. The faster you go off-road, the greater the chances of bogging.

I'll speculate it's because if it was there, players would want to use it for its primary purpose, which was towing various larger guns, which isn't a game feature.
    Thoughts?

Yes, of course! And light up their pipes while they're at it
No. but I did have a couple of instances where a tank exhausted its ammo pounding the enemy while another fellow tank with a disabled main gun just sat there in the back doing nothing. It would be cool to somehow be able to transfer that ammo to the fully operational vehicle (in safe conditions ;).

    Back to the topic:
    - ability to swap crews between vehicles, tanks especially
    - ability to acquire ammo from another (disabled) tank
    - ability to (re)man guns after they've been abandoned by the same or another crew

    CM is unique and awesome.
That said, I think we all want better performance, cleaner UI, more fronts, era's and more.
I am happy that Battlefront has managed to stay in business selling Combat Mission games, and I choose to see the glass half full and enjoy what we have.

    And you know this...how ?
The attention to details when it comes to OOBs, TOEs and such things are indeed impressive. What is far from equally impressive by todays standards are the performance of the AI and the design of the scenario editor.
A game can have very impressive unit modeling and LOS/LOF calculations etc but if the AI is not able to provide a somewhat realistic (thinking/reacting) enemy...The game looses some of its appeal imo. No matter how good the OOBs and TOEs are.
The limited amount of community created scenarios in recent years ought to be an indication of the fact that the scenario editor is somewhat clunky to work with. Some improvements might be in order.
The AI and the scenario editor have seen VERY limited upgrades in the last ten years (atleast) and by the sound of it is not in the pipeline for any future improvements anytime soon...Unless the 2024-bone part 2 will state othervise.

I'm right there with you. I can hardly wait for Battlefront to get around to covering the early-war period. In part because I find all military history fascinating, so I will always advocate for any period that I feel is underrepresented in wargaming. In part because I have a particular love for early-war tanks, such as the R-35 and Panzer 2. And in part because I believe that giving people an opportunity to experience this period for themselves will do much to bust the myth that these early campaigns were a complete walkover for the Germans at the tactical level. Despite the speed of the German advance on the operational level, the small scale fighting at the tactical level was much less one-sided than most people realize. For example, while the German army as a whole was basically unstoppable in Poland in 1939, there were no shortage of occasions in which individual tank attacks were stopped cold by Polish anti-tank guns. And there were even a handful of moderately successful Polish counterattacks.
But, they'll get there. Impatience does us no good. Battlefront made the call to finish up the late-war period first. And whether or not you think that was the optimal call, I don't think any reasonable person could argue that the late war period wasn't also worth covering. Now that they have finished up the late-war period we can be very confident that future work will start incrementally rolling the clock backwards until they reach the beginning of the war (there will probably be more Battle Packs covering certain late-war campaigns in greater detail, but future modules and base games will certainly be going backwards from here on out). I'm hopeful that they'll get back to the beginning of the war before the 1st of September 2039 (I definitely intend to start another chronological CM playthrough around this date).

I guess you did an actual poll, market research or similar about that?
So maybe this works with a mostly US based audience. For me personally Downfall and also to a lesser degree Fire & Rubble feels like the Allies get an extension of timeline so they can play around with their shiney toys. But that really feels like the only reason for me because contrary to, say, the Bulge, historically the whole fighting by that point was totally pointless. And tactically I don't see what it reall adds.
This is very subjective on my side and it may be because I'm German. Don't get me wrong, this is not about me being butthurt here.
I'd much rather see France 1940, not because Germany won this time but because it would add so many new tactical challenges (armor and gun wise inferior German tanks but with better mobility for example, instead of unicorn tanks for late war battles).

I think they'll do early war eventually. They just need to work backwards towards it from what they have right now to minimize the number new assets that need to be created with each release.

    I will buy a "CMBK".
Yes a lot of work but some vehicles and equipment are already available for German, Brits and French (PzII, PzIII and IV, B1bis, R35, 88, Pak, bren carrier, etc...).

Nice preview !  Thanks for getting CM games alive through the years ! My wishes :
    1) don'n use to much acronysmes: what means "CMCW-BAOR" or "CMFB"  ?   I know it, but think to beginners...
    2) a REAL dream:  release "CMBK"  = Combat Mission BlitzKrieg. 1939-40 Poland, Belgium, France campaigns !  wow, what a dream, what a potential for battlepack, new tactics, upgrades, ...   Good stuff means good money, I'm pretty sure you'll get a lot of customers for that !

Lots of them were used in the Rhineland during the Rhine crossings . Would be a big failure if they were omitted.

Yes, my M-26 Pershing will take on the Panther in Cologne Cathedral. Then the King Tiger from the sides. Oh, Super Pershing's perhaps. I might be pushing my luck a bit.

A "Wait in Ambush, Shoot, then Displace to Another Location" order would be very helpful for snipers, and any unit waiting to ambush something.
A complete revamp of the "Acquire" process so that any unit could exchange weapons and ammo with any adjacent unit - up to a reasonable amount of course and with a time delay - like when one sets up a crew weapon.  (ie: Do away with the clickfest "Split into Teams, Mount Vehicle, Acquire, Dismount and Rejoin Original Squad" process.)
A "Scout Order" - one can simply click on a target location and the scout team uses an AI routine to carefully scout towards it while maintaining self-preservation.  (Currently, scouting is a virtual suicide mission - at least in WEGO.)

    1. Shoot n' Scoot command
    2. Pre-configurable fallback point to be used when a unit retreats or combined with Shoot n' Scoot
    3. UI element or command that lets you disable special weapons like ATGM's on a BMP or Panzerfausts in a Grenadier squad

I'm honestly hoping that the weakness of a Barbarossa module for Red Thunder will lead to the release of a full 1939-41 Blitzkrieg title instead.

Devil's Descent -- Pitch perfect company sized para campaign.
Kampfgruppe Engel (CMBN) -- Not a beginner level campaign, but one of the most innovative in Combat Mission. Features ammo and repair state carry-over and core force.
The Outllaws (CMBN) -- Ramping para campaign, where you start small as the troopers march to the sound of the guns, culminating in much larger battles as your paras link up with 4th Division straightlegs coming off the beach. Interesting briefing style that provides virtually no useful tactical information. but it does provide a narrative, and the player fills in the blanks.
Road to Montebourg (CMBN) -- One of the most ambitious Combat Mission campaigns, and one of the biggest (16 missions?). Excellent mission variety, with the opening mission a showcase for suppression in Combat Mission.
Blunting the Spear (CMRT) -- Battalion + sized campaign. I tend to steer clear of the larger campaigns, but this one is too good to ignore. A near perfect blend of long range gunnery duels and close-in fighting.
    Just a few suggestions
