Some years late to the party. I was really enjoying this battle until the bridge bug struck. My AFV's just got stuck 2/3rds of the way across. I even reversed them off and tried again a few times. But, no joy. After wasting about ten minutes, and getting more and more frustrated, the Germans roll up and shoot my traffic jam to pieces. I hit "Cease Fire" and settle for a draw.

John, I'm not sure of your sources. But I fail to see how Cairo could be like a "ghost town", when the docks were full of ships bringing in supplies, and the brothels were doing a roaring trade. I suspect that that may have been a bit of wishful thinking on the part of the Germans. As for the "full-blown panic" in Alex, that sounds pretty much the same as what happened in Brussels and Ghent in June 1815, just because the toffs are in a tizzy, it doesn't mean the boys in the front line are.
My granddad and his mates didn't run away in the summer of '42. They kept the supplies flowing to the front until Rommel was given a bloody nose and F***ed off with his tail between his legs.

The two ford closest to the bridges are "shallow fords" and can be crossed by both vehicles and infantry, the two outer fords are "deep fords" and so only infantry can use them.

He read Liddell Harts transcripts and examined detailed notes of his from when he carried out training exercises in regards to the use of 'armour'.  So no Guderian didnt conceive the idea he just built on the original idea.

Mad Addy always considered the western part of the old Russian Empire as a "bread basket" for German "Lebensraum". Hence his emphasis on it's importance. Also, the plonker thought that he "only had to kick in the door for the whole edifice to come crashing down" i.e. the war in the East would be over by the autumn of '41, and there would be no reason to capture the southern oil fields as they would pass to him on the surrender he envisaged. The need for more oil than he could get from Romania only came after the Russian counter-attack in the winter of '41/42.
As the old saying goes, never trust a man who spends all his time in Bierkellers, and only drinks mineral water.

I see that the @sburke and @c3k have already pointed to the discussion about the issue in 4.0 and the plan to fix it and all the fun around that. So I'll just try to answer some of the other questions or should I say statements

That is easy peasy as long as you USE THE ALL IN ONE INSTALLERS. If you still have the all in one installers from previous builds of the games you own you can don't even have to re-download them. If you don't still have them, you can download them again. After that you have two choices:
    1) you don't want to keep the v4 update versions on your machine at all (I recommend this only if you are tight for disk space)
    Uninstall the previous game.
Run the all in one install for the v3 update.
    You are done.

    2) you want to keep v4 around so that you can patch it and move forward later
Run the all in one install for the v3 update and make sure you point to a different directory than your v4 games.
    You are done.

There is a small chance that it will ask you to activate again but I expect very few people will see that since v3 is already activated on your machine. So, there you have it: one decision to make and max two steps to follow and optionally some downloading time. I wish everything in life were that simple
The only gottcha is that for all the games other than CMBN they share the scenarios and game save folders. So, your v3 game will not load any saves or scenarios created with the v4 game but they will show up in the list. For many people there are not many scenarios that will trigger this.
PS. I have multiple version of all of the games installed on my computer at any given time. I am not the only one - very doable.

Good - me too. Awesome game.
Hummm I'll refrain from saying much here but there is something you can do right now - the pause command. If you put your defenders on pause the will stay put - sometimes even when shaken. For your attackers you can put a pause command on their final way point to make sure the stay and fight. There is a downside - OK two:
    1) The AI is not doing this work around so it works best vs human opponents.
    2) Also, if you men are paused they will not withdraw on their own until they are really messed up.
I know a lot of people are very bent out of shape over this but we should all keep in mind that the TacAI is *supposed* to act on its own and try to preserve the lives of your men. I know people feel the balance was thrown off in v4 - and I agree. However, I feel that this is another one of those times when expectations need to be set / reset / hammered home . These pixel soldiers are *not* meant to be supermen. They are *not* mean to make perfect decisions at all times. They *cannot* read you mind and act accordingly. So, once we all get this patch remember that. Remember that even before v4 soldiers skipped town and sometimes ended up dead because of it. And the will again after the patch. That desire for self preservation was always in the programming and it is not going away.

Fatigue has no effect on a units accuracy or on its morale state regardless if the current morale state is as a result from either Combat Stress or Combat Shock or a combination of both.
    Fatigue will only affect your movement options;
    Tired troops cannot Fast Move.

Fatigued troops cannot Fast, Assault or Hunt Move.

Exhausted troops cannot Fast, Assault, Hunt or Quick Move.

Maintaining a C2 link with a Plt HQ for example provides that squad with a resistance to Combat Shock  i.e. its morale state will not drop as low under incoming fire as it would if it was out of C2 link.
Whether you want to maintain the C2 link is up to you as a player. Well trained, led and motivated units have a built in resistance to Combat Shock  whereas poorly trained, led and motivated units are more susceptible to its effects. You could make a case that its more important to keep the C2 link with lower quality troops when they are in contact, however even good quality troops get worn down and will benefit from maintaining the link when taking incoming fire especially if they have taken casualties and are suffering an additional impact on their morale state from Combat Stress.

Although you can toggle as described by Holman. The guys on the ground in the winter of '44/45 couldn't do it, so I don't either. Perhaps I'm a glutton for punishment.
