  1. In my two most recent attempts, my Jocks ran towards Gerry as well. The first time their actions were prompted by mortar fire, the second time it only took small arms fire for them to go charging forward. Ho hum.
  2. Sadly. after two more run throughs of the 1st mission of "The Scottish Corridor" campaign Buggy MacBuggface has reared his ugly head again.
  3. What you are seeing is German troops charging towards the British for no sensible reason and getting themselves killed. This behaviour did NOT happen with Engine 2. It did NOT happen with Engine 3, and did NOT happen with Engine 4 in it's original form. It has only been noticed SINCE the 4.01 patch was released. But I have followed the advice that you gave in a previous post, and re-installed the patches. And, hey presto! NO Germans charging towards my Churchills to get themselves killed. I don't have time to check "The Roadblock" now. But I will try to in due course, or perhaps others may like to try the re-install method for themselves.
  4. OK. Thanks for the advice. I will try the re-install option over the weekend. If it doesn't work I will see you in Chelsea, as much as I'd hate to go there.
  5. Sadly, I've yet to notice any "fix" to the hedgerow "gap charging" problem.
  6. I wanted to ask a question about your recent book review but I couldn't share the picture that I wanted to talk about ho hum.
  7. I knew. And I haven't been able to read a book since 1658.
  8. Thanks for sharing those. That poor old Priest will need some good strong Trappist ale.
  9. It's been years since I read Milton Schulman's book. I think that I must have gotten it out of the Library, so we are talking about 30 years ago. Perhaps I ought to hunt it down again.
  10. I always thought that an Archer was something that you found in a brown paper bag at Waterloo station.
  11. Perhaps one of the modders can create a Partisan mod using a mixture of the pre-existing Italian voice files, uniforms, equipment, and some civvy clothing of their own design.
  12. But, by the time he has seen it, it will be too late for him to close his eyes. Or, hadn't you thought of that Frank?
  13. It is very much a well crafted campaign , albeit one based on a myth. The Ike said to Monty etc etc never happened. It actually went like this. Pip said to Jorrocks :- "My boys are champing at the bit. I think that we can make Amiens tonight." Jorrocks said to Bimbo :- "11th Armoured will be in Amiens tonight". Bimbo said to Monty :- "Brian reckons that XXX Corps will have advanced as far as Amiens by tonight". Monty said to Ike :- "2nd Army are telling me that they are going to Amiens tonight". Ike said to Kay :- "Who is Amy Enns?" Kay said to Ike :- "Dunno, must be another one of those Limey warblers, like that Vera Lynn, that they made us go and see at Christmas". And I know this to be a fact cuz my Granddad Paddy was delivering a case of knocked off Gordon's to Jorrocks' HQ when it happened.
  14. At moments like this I always put on "Tutti Lo Sanno" by Marine Girls .... "but hate is a passion that's near to love anyway"...
  15. I took a look at the Indian Army TO&E I was most disappointed. No Concert Party Platoon, and no Punkahwallah Section. Hopefully this will be rectified by release date.
  16. That was Alf Tupper "The Tough of the Track". No coronary, thankfully. He did go blind, but not even that could stop him. He learnt how to race the 3,000m Steeplechase, using a guide dog during his training sessions. And won Gold at the Munich Olympics.
  17. I first read about the attack on Middleburg in an issue of a Limey comic called Victor. Ah we were all so much younger then, he says, drowning in a wave of nostalgia.
  18. The 6-pounders feature in the bridge battle that came with the Market Garden module. When I played that battle against the AI I left them in their original set up spots, and gave them no orders throughout the fight. At the end I checked, they had both turned 180 degrees and scored kills.
  19. In the mod pack there is a Stug bearing the number Ps 531 - 3. Although it didn't feature in any of the test battles, which was a shame.
  20. I'm not sure how a problem that renders the game unenjoyable/uplayable (delete as applicable) can be "in the rearview mirror". Of course, I do appreciate the fact that we didn't have mortorised horses with rearview whatsits in my day.
  21. I have to agree with Pete Wenman. Now, where have I read that before?
  22. Fulda Gap ... As Dartford Mick and the Tax Dodgers once sang. "You can't always get what you want. And if you keep banging on about it. You might just find, that sometimes, you really piss Steve and the boys off". Or, words to that effect.
