StieliAlpha reacted to Vacillator in Combat photography: Photos from the front..
I've been there too Andreas, but I'd still rather have a Tiger than a Panzer IV đ.

StieliAlpha got a reaction from Phantom Captain in Combat photography: Photos from the front..
I hate to say it, but my beloved Tiger often disappoints me in CM. Despite the frontal strength and fierce look.
I.e., the video does not surprise me too much.

StieliAlpha got a reaction from BDW in Been 10yrs, need a quick recap
Brings me back to @BDWÂ original question
A lot changed, but if you were away for ten years, you wonât notice the difference. The game runs better and a lot of glitches have been eliminated.
The âgoing to Steam with a new PBEM and tournament systemâ is certainly a big change, but probably not your main concern for the time being.
Otherwise: I am playing CM since 1999 (or earlier?), too, but joined the Forum only in the early 2000âs.
That said: Welcome back mate!
Forgot to say: Installation is nowadays indeed a lot easier, @BFCElvis will help you through that anyway.Â
And there are âall in oneâ mod packages available, which should give you a head start to make the game look nicer.đ

StieliAlpha got a reaction from George MC in Panzer Helps You! Section IV: Infantry Armored Vehicle (S.P.W.)
Nope, it does. But mainly for (somewhat exclusive) rail cars. Letâs say a car of the âOrient-Expressâ would be called a âWagonâ.

StieliAlpha got a reaction from Aragorn2002 in Sound mod for CMRT?
I Â did a collection of âintro musicâ for BN, FI and RT a long time ago. For RT Iit included the Russian anthem and a few regimental marches,âIIRC.
Should still be available at the FGM mod depot. If not, drop me a lined.

StieliAlpha got a reaction from PEB14 in Frontal Attacks
How did a gaming friend in board game times say: Â Why seek the flanks, when you can break through the center?
More seriously:
- Somebody has to be in the center and cannot always remain passive.
- Scale and perception: Performing a frontal attack in CM, does not mean that you are not part of a flanking attack in the larger picture.
- Being in a frontal attack mission does not stop you from seeking the âlocal flankâ.

StieliAlpha got a reaction from Aragorn2002 in Winter Horizon?
Good point. An explosion which remains stationary for an hour may look a little odd. But why not try it? Itâs not like we would be watching it all the  time.

Winter Horizon?
Â
Based of @umlaut destroyed town I think Stalingrad, this is only an exemple of what I mean in my text with, fog, explosions, dirt, smoke, clouds, artilery barrage...and a tank, that you have to discover ???  đ

@StieliAlpha the others BFC modules horizons doesn't works...?
Is this only the horizons or all around, like Falaise mod seasoned terrains and trees?
Perhaps can you working on one that already exist and have the perfect aspect from what you want...
For infos I am working myself on horizons view for Belgium 40 but for the spring with real Ardennrste pictures, this is my first one I will see if this works...
Edit @Aquila-SmartWargames was making also some test with real towns city's pictures, is a question to check how we can have the best way that we want...

StieliAlpha got a reaction from kohlenklau in Winter Horizon?
Hi Phil, if those are all of your faults, you are excused. đ
I tried quickly: This version of your horizons works perfectly. Not only with Rites, but also with some other âwinter scenariosâ Â which I tried.
Well, I still lost my PBEM battle of Rites very badly (some say devastatingly), but I now believe this really is my fault. đ
Re your âGoodiesâ:Â You may want to shuffle that stuff over to Bootieâs FGM.Â
Thanks, mate.Â

StieliAlpha reacted to kohlenklau in Winter Horizon?
Sadly I have not found any old CMRT Winter Mod folders and files on my PC. I am wondering where exactly they are...
Maybe once BFC's CMRT FR module came out I was thinking they were obsolete and redundant and deleted them? That is not my usual style to do that.
For now. Nothing to pass on to you. Sorry. Â
EDIT: One of my faults is curiosity. I went into CMRT and looked at FR The Rites of Spring. I tweaked the settings to see why the horizons are not snowed. My theory: Long story short is that the scenario seems to be briefed to occur in Hungary but BFC did not add a dropdown region for Hungary. 3 picks are Soviet Union, Eastern Europe and Germany. The scenario author set region to Germany. Modtag [hungary] was imported. So houses and such are Hungarian. But also my theory is that Germany region has some horizons for Berlin tied to modtag [germany city]. I wasted some of my life trying to fix this but was not successful. Sorry #2.
EDIT #2: My other fault is tenacity. I went and figured it out. @StieliAlpha Here are the horizons that fix the CMRT FR The Rites of Spring scenario.

Thanks, mate. I grabbed them already, but haven´t installed them yet. They are looking good so far, certainly better than my summer horizon behind snowy fields...

StieliAlpha got a reaction from BFCElvis in CMBN STEAM key
Then my insistence helped at least a little.
Forget my previous question. I managed to activate all modules.
Seems all is good now.
Next question: How do I explain the bleary eyes to my boss tomorrow? But weâll cross that bridge when we get there⌠!-)

StieliAlpha got a reaction from Artkin in The Combat Mission Manuals.
Maybe I am too much old school, but whatâs the problem? We âoldâ guys had to muddle through many iterations of CM and managed to love the game.
Plus, on a higher level: Is that not like real life? There is no âreal life manualâ. Try and error is a valid strategy. Different to RL, in a game it does not really matter if you fail.
Hmmm, thinking further: It may even be a valuable experience to carry back from gaming to RLâŚ

StieliAlpha reacted to Simicro in Thanks for having onboarded me!
Hi,
As far as I can recall, I have never written a message like this one in a game's community.
I also confess that before arriving here, I've read once or twice that the CM Community is only made of fan boys, etc.
Now my factual experience is the following:
I joined 2 weeks ago and posted 12 questions by creating new threads or writing into existing ones.
I received answers from 17 mates, some of them participated in different threads.
@Artkin @Vacillator @Heirloom_Tomato @StieliAlpha @ASL Veteran @Ivan Zaitzev @37mm @kevinkin @Paper Tiger @Codreanu @PEB14 @Warts 'n' all @landserÂ
@chuckdyke @Bulletpoint @JM Stuff @SlowMotion ... sorry if I missed someone.
95% of my questions have been answered, the 5% remaining were not so important.
I've also received some help offer through private messaging from 2 guys who spontaneously call me 'mate' or 'friend'Â đ
Thanks guys! Much appreciated đ
And thanks to these authors because I have started using their MODs:
@Ithikial_AU @kohlenklau @Juju @Vinnart
Thanks also to @Bootie for his portal.
PS: quick question: when I write @nickmame_of_a_user he gets notified in the forum interface?

StieliAlpha got a reaction from Vacillator in How does the Vehicle Pack articulate with the base game and the other DLCs?
Yep, sure. I remember, i once mentioned the idea that even some early war scenarios could be created with the R35. Which should be good fun scenario creators.
I was just saying, that questions like âIs it worth it?â cannot be answered. The answer depends too much on peopleâs personal preferences. Thst I find something worthwhile, does not mean the next person feels the same.

Then I would, indeed, go for the modules and âScenario Depotâ scenarios (AND modâs! Those do add a lot to the game) first and leave VP and BP for later.
BN plus modules and user made scenarios should keep you busy for a long timeâŚ

Worth it? Difficult question. The answer depends on too many hard and soft factors.
Like âHow important are 20 Dollars  for you?â
The VP does not add too many new vehicles or items and there is unfortunately not too much user made content available. A handful of scenarios using the VP at best.
On the other hand: It is great fun to see e.g. the âflail Shermanâ in action.
Is it worth the few Dollars? I concluded for myself: Yes.
But itâs yours to decide for yourself.

StieliAlpha got a reaction from A Canadian Cat in Been a While Guys
Hm, that should not be necessary. I would be surprised, if BFC would not be able and willing to give you access to your account and purchased game serial numbers. Ever considered to ask @BFCElvis ?

StieliAlpha got a reaction from Vacillator in What combat mission game is the best for someone who has never played a combat mission before.
Play the demos. They should give you a good impression about the looks and equipment for each game.
Plus, you will see whether you like the games at all. I would assume you do, but one never knows.
I, for example, had been quite happy with CMBN at the time. When CMSF came out, I was quite excited. But after playing the demo, I quickly found: Nope, not for me.
