A silly question or wishful thinking
A Canadian Cat replied to lcm1977's topic in Combat Mission Fortress Italy
?? How often are you seeing that? I don't remember the last time I saw troops doing that. Are you by chance using the target command? Because that says "fire with everything you've got". I usually just let my guys pick their own targets. -
Couple of questions about new forum on android phones
A Canadian Cat replied to rocketman's topic in General Discussion Forum
Yeah I do not see such a thing on my BB either. But what I do have that I am liking is once I navigate to a forum with content and I read the first unread post there at the bottom of the screen is a convenient link to the next unread comment. That way I can easily read everything in a forum and then navigate to the next forum and repeat. -
Couple of questions about new forum on android phones

That would indeed be strange. One thing to not is your log in ID is no longer your email it is your forum name. In your case rocketman. Could that be the problem? -

Yes, you have to log in so that the site can hook up to its database of what you already read. I was able to log in OK on my phone and now the site correctly displays the mobile version for my browser - yay. -
How to best deal with wheat fields?
A Canadian Cat replied to Bulletpoint's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
That seems like a good strategy. I have to admit I have actually crawled across a few but it hardly constitutes an attack because it is so slow. I did it as aside move next to the main assault. It works but takes f o r e v e r. -
Actually I would have said it favours AT guns. He managed to destroy three tanks and severely damage another with three AT guns. I never was able to maneuver on my right because of them. I don't know the terrain in real life but my impression is that there was a lot of places with long sight lines broken up only by raised roads and ditches.

What Kind of Scenario Would You Like?
A Canadian Cat replied to Quintus Sertorius's topic in CM Normandy Maps and Mods
Wow, cool. Scenario design by request. I personally enjoy big battles we lots of scope, recon elements arriving first and then the main force later. There are a number of large battles, perhaps not with initial recon but there are quite a few big battles. The one request that I think is under served are small platoon sizes fights. I think the reason it feels like there needs to be more is because you can play three or four tiny battles in the time it takes to play one big one. So, I suggest be the king of the small battle. If also happens to be a good place for start for programming the AI. -
CM: Battle of the Bulge Stream gameplay
A Canadian Cat replied to AttorneyAtWar's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
He said that? I must have missed it. My impression is that the goal is that they would show the correct place. -
Hard coded SMG range limit.
A Canadian Cat replied to MOS:96B2P's topic in Combat Mission Red Thunder
??? Did I miss something here. My impression from reading this thread and the other one that there is nothing to fix? -
Well that is good news. Good luck.

Well that sucks. Now you are getting into issues I have no idea about. I recommend opening a support ticket click the blue button in the top right corner here: http://battlefront.mojohelpdesk.com/ If you can attach the turn file here someone can see if their CMFI can see the turn that could give the support team some more info. No need for passwords we are just going to check if the turn shows up or not. One other thing - is Gustov Line still activated after the upgrade? On the home screen do you see the GL icon bright?

Cross of Iron Theme Hänschen klein
A Canadian Cat replied to ChappyCanuck's topic in Combat Mission Red Thunder
I'm no mac expert but I seem to recall that sound files that work on PCs are not guaranteed to work a Mac (and probably visa versa) so sound modders need to make sure certain parameters are met with sound files. If you do some searching along those lines I hope you can find the threads where this was discussed and who the experts are in making things work. -
Why is US CAS so expensive?
A Canadian Cat replied to John Kettler's topic in Combat Mission Black Sea
Yes, the over confidence when you have one of those uber beasts can get them KO'ed. Witness in our recent match my KT KO'ed by your flame thrower team. I have a screen shot I need to post of that... -
My strategy is two fold. First I organize things so that the company co has his platoons in front of him and each platoon Lt has his squads in front of him. Once you have each company sorted out you can start thinking about what jobs they will each have and start placing the platoons. The other thing I do is work for a while and then save the turn (I stick a "_save" on the end of the file name. Then I do something else and come back to it. For a big setup that might be a few saves. Then once I push the BRB I just back space over the extra text and ship it.

AAR: Rinaldi v. Emory
A Canadian Cat replied to Rinaldi's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Very nicely done - both the battle and the AAR. I like that map. -
According to this website (which I have no idea how accurate it is): http://www.tanks-encyclopedia.com/ww2/nazi_germany/SdKfz-251_Hanomag.php Could the reason.

Ah, warefare hq ? is that another club I am not familiar with? Or are you talking about theBlitz where you have been kicking a** and forgetting names: http://www.theblitz.org/ladders/combat-mission-x2-modern/b-11.htm?action=ladder&id=19&page=1&orderby=elo&order=desc A 13 - 2 - 2 record is bloody scary. -
LOL I'll have to test that speed difference but my impression is they are as fast as Stuarts. I know technically they have worse armour than the Shermans but lets face it if a German 75mm get a hit they are both dead. Shermans don't take a beating any more than Cromwells do one just dies harder but they are still both going to be toast after any solid hit. Same. You know I bugged Steve every chance I got to include kangaroos in the pack and I have yet to play with them. Damn I have to shed some of my extra projects and get creating those scenarios that I had in mind when I was bugging him. Sigh - need 30 hour days or three day weekends... Yes, that ammo load out is wild. In Seven Winds I had a Churchill tank camp out along the road and hose down the church steeple with MG fire for the entire game. It never let up and it still had ammo left. Awesome. Oh, yeah I love having those guys to play with.

Any good scenarios with a recon phase?
A Canadian Cat replied to Bulletpoint's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
I believe Huzzar! fits the bill there. -
Reinforcements with Starting Orders
A Canadian Cat replied to Quintus Sertorius's topic in CM Normandy Maps and Mods
Not for the human player. Of course the AI player very likely does I think the utility of that would be so low compared to the work involved it would be unlikely that we will see it implemented.
