Hey Cambronne, it just struck me last night that you were wondering how I could have the vests separate from the uniform in the game. I was absent-mindedly thinking you meant while I was working on the mod, which of course is easy to do, just...cut and paste! Sorry to mislead you.  The mod will have a variety of vest-uniforms for each type of vest, OD, digital and Woodland.

Cambronne, I was set to have it uploaded last night or this morning, but in my final in-game uniform "walk-around" I discovered that the plate carrier/vest  straps didn't line up properly at the top of the shoulder where the front and back of the texture meet up! Didn't look good at all.  I couldn't figure out why, since I used the original uniform as a template.  Still can't figure it out, so I had to re-cut and "paint" the straps again this morning.  Maybe tonight or tomorrow...fingers crossed.

There is a camp in Korea called "Camp Carrol", Korea, was named after my uncle (mother side) Sergeant First Class Charles F. Carroll, a posthumous recipient of the Distinguished Service Cross for his acts of heroism during the Korean War. Just thought I would mention it.

Thanks Ian, but I have always only used Best for all the options in all the games, except for choosing the less Tree Detail.  I think I see what I did, though, and it was partly an illusion depending on viewing angle.  Anyway, looks like I fixed things.
If I hadn't decided to tackle the full uniforms last week in addition to the gear and helmets, I'd have some of these mods out the door by now. Sorry to those that are actually waiting for them. "Soon", as in the royal (BFC) soon. 😎

For those who really enjoyed Generation Kill.  Been messing around at getting a Marine unit into Hmmwvs.  Dismounting drivers and crews and replacing them.  There are some idiosyncrasies.  Skip the M2.  You can't keep the gun, the team dismounts with it.  M240 and mk 19 are fine and the m240 will accept a 5 man team. The vehicle icons will also show some discrepancies.  The MG team when mounted shows an MG,  Most everyone else is showing a vehicle.
The result - Lt Bailey Assassin 1 -6 Actual and Assassin 1 on a back road approaching an Iraqi town.    Now if teams would only fire from within the vehicle...….

Since the Marines are historically, chronically short of supplies, I thought it my patriotic duty to make some stuff for them.  Not posted yet because I need to become an author on CMMODS and double-check them for the umpteenth time, but hopefully by tomorrow. These are in Marpat Digital, Woodland, and plain OD Green. Each type will have 3 folders, for Gear, Helmets and Vests, so you'll be able to mix and match to give them a ragtag look if you want.
    Uniforms will follow soon.

Vet, that'd be up to the individual. I'm only supplying some different gear. Supply Sargeant has your uniforms, lol.

Glad you like it.  Actually, I just wanted to check the weapon swaps, some different camo versions, and hats/no hats.  I will be doing the Rhodies after I finish my USMC mods (no uniforms at this time, just vests, helmets and gear) because they are the closest to being done. I plan on doing a bunch of different African types, including SADF, then IDF, then some SE Asia-based types. That's the rough plan anyways.
    Your maps will be awesome!

CMFDR, not a dumb question at all. I completely forgot we had the ability to drag files into the reply box, even though I see the damn instructions below left every time I post! I've been going the tedious Photobucket (those Bastaarrds!) route this whole time.

Well, new haircuts or importing a hat (CMA doesn't have separate model skeletons for headgear), lose the gloves, we might be getting somewhere, Combatintman. 😉

Thanks Cpt. Miller!  I had checked out sbobovyc's thread but like you, I'm just not that experienced to want to even attempt to tackle 3D models.
@Rokossovski:  I'm working on texture mods for Syrians, among others.  Here are some screen shots of preliminary (that is, slapped together very quickly, lol) tests of some camo for African troops. I have a lot of camo patterns I'm planning for various nations/rebels/etc., and there will be some specifically for Syrians.  But the skins are separate from the uniforms, so they could all be used for Syrians.  With Cpt. Miller's mods and I'm sure a lot of other modders, you should have plenty to choose from!

I've been holding on for this dank meme for some time:

That's how mafia works. Old Joe was an outlaw that generated a lot of revenue for the Bolsheviks by robbing banks and pulling off train heists. Not a good military commander, though. He failed to link up with Tukhachevsky during the Battle of Warsaw (the prequel) and was blamed for their defeat in Poland. Funny enough, both Tukhavhevsky and Trotsky, the people in charge of that campaign, ended up dead prior to WW2. These purges came from intel provided by German agents... it was quite a shock for him when Barbarossa happened.
Virtually all Soviet officers were WW1 vets, and a lot of them came from Brusilov's camp. They're the ones behind Red Army's successes in the war, and if it wasn't for the purges -- there would be more of them around. It's kinda funny how Stalin got this image of Communist Generalissimos, while he was just a thief and with a military bad-call streak as bad as than Conrad Von Hotzendorf.
In the upcoming RT module, we'll see him try to meddle in military matters again. He could manipulate people and managed to sic a few WW1 vets, namely Vasilevsky and Zhukov, to compete for Berlin. They had the situation in the bag, and rushed when they didn't have to. The result was Seelow Heights, losing forces that would be critical to partitioning Germany.

Good to know! I'll give that a try the next time I get a chance to work on the SLA.
@mjkerner those skins look great! I especially like the tiger stripe one.
As far as additional Syrian army skins go, I have a few that I've been playing around with for a while now. I tend to like the idea of creating skins that represent generic OpForces as I am much more interested in force on force conventional fighting than I am in insurgencies. Heres one of the skins I'm pretty fond of:
