  1. "Looking for images to use on some briefing TacMaps and such......Ahhhem!" Fast and Furious Fighting "research' ... I am sure Looks and sounds very interesting kohlenklau.
  2. From early CMSF day the quality of QBs in general has ... vastly improved. CMBS QB Maps are light years ahead. I have 330 QB maps sitting in my stock CMBS folder! QB's are meant to be "fun" vs AI. QBs are a lot more fun today than early CMSF days. Substantial CM gaming challenges are best accomplished via H2H or PBEM.
  3. You know your adversary will ... "Attack" "Setup for long range engagement and some infantry for guarding spotters and final attack." Sounds like a solid plan. Spot the Abrams and hit them with multiple units form multiple angles. M1A2s are very fast to fire so you are best served if you can at least overwhelm / disable them before you KO them.
  4. Popcorn .... Beer.... (reverse order) Watching from the Bridge Too Far... Ready for the Bugle call to Glory and Attack!
  5. All solid practical points re 'returning to CMSF'. I do not know what will happen with CMSF but I do know it is IMO a classic and still plenty of fun to play after all these years Comparing CMSF to CMBS it is easy to see how much effort Battlefront has invested in their products. CMBS is a really cool and fun game. I have no doubt that whatever iteration / setting the new CMSF takes ( 3.0 or better, engine) it will be plenty of good game time ahead.
  6. Looks like a lovely day at the Tour De France... with Heavy Armor hidden in Canola I like it.
  7. Thank you Vin and Marco. Vin's Animated Text- CMBS v1 makes for Happy Sailing in the Black Sea, Buzz
  8. Splinty is correct. "...3 scenarios where recon can be used as recon...." Bridgehead at Kharalyk is a must experience scenario in Black Sea. A real challenge on multiple levels.
  9. "... To leverage it, we'd need an operational-scale battlefield sim..." Or go the other direction. A huge map with a small-scale recon action, using a couple platoons, playing real time w/o pauses. With creative use of triggers a good scenario designer could make for a fun time with recon... especially at night. Armored Knight is pretty cool looking ride.
  10. I like they way you think MikeyD..."bring along a .50 cal sniper rifle and do the deed yourself" Tunguska is definitely some serious whoop with a lot of ammo... with 'precision airburst' shells it would be savage... and it already bad. Something primal about the idea of dispatching a Tunguska with an M107 anti-material rifle. I can hear the boys whopping it up on impact
  11. CMSF was a great 1st New Modern. I still play CMSF because it is FUN CMBS is a whole other world of New Modern... almost 8 years more mature... in a different environment with much more equivalent... BANG! WWII tactics are a solid foundation to understand what is possible in New Modern lordhedgwich.. so in many ways you are ahead in the learning curve having WWII CM experience... in my opinion.
  12. Good on you Raptorx7... Massage those Media strings... "Now now now!"
  13. Shouldn't the cutting edge media be aware of CMBS anyway Ugh... Yeah... there was a sporting event yesterday with weeks of post season hype and a clutch ending so ... give cutting edge media a few days to catch up
  14. What Sergei said sums it up very well .... With emphasis.... "... cavalry's first objective is to determine where the enemy isn't (so you can put the right tools in the right places) .... don't send 'reconnaissance vehicles' headlong against where you suspect 'stuff that can kill you' will be but use 'reconnaissance vehicles' to secure flanks and approach avenues....." and.. "sometimes you don't have that luxury..."
  15. "a full game analysis".... Excellent and Educational. Thanks Bil Buzz
  16. One can hope enlightened media members will realize the geo-political soundings, both historical and current events through the entire Combat Mission game system... You know... how these Virtual Game Experiences can generate real empathy for conflicts near and far, current and historical. Imagine that... a "game" could be a factor in helping people understand "reality" Hears Hope Looking at You, Buzz
  17. Bil, Your skills demonstrated the New Modern - Black Sea very well. Yes, any Russian force would withdraw facing such dominating combat power. You stuck in very well facing overwhelming numbers your forces faced. Nothing better than TWO worthy opponents showing us how to deal the cards dealt... in Black Sea. Salutes, Buzz
  18. Big Galute can write. I agree... an "AMAZING AAR.. outstanding work." Solid contenders make for a great narrative... on both sides. Thank you Scott and Bil. Great ride and this AAR was only... round one Thanks, Buzz
  19. Not a former military service member. Never in a declared war. Outside any service man’s level of experience of practical contact with and observation of facts or events in wars. I never wanted or want to go to war because …“war sucks.” Steve’s post “… caring is proportional to the "closeness" relative to the individual… ” did strongly resonate with my Life experience. One of my medical gigs we encountered hundreds of people dying per year in our Emergency Room.... over many years. Saved plenty more but ... to survive … one must ‘numb up’ to cope with unrelenting, senseless, massive traumas... on our watch…. to come back for more. In another of my medical gigs I encountered hundreds of people dying per year… almost a decade on this job …. from Cancer, AIDS, etc. etc. (pretty much any terminal diagnosis)… I got the call. BIG difference was “… caring is proportional to the "closeness" relative to the individual… ” In medical gig #1, Emergency Room, it was ACUTE, blood in / on your face, Live or Die - NOW! We would ‘numb up’ to cope and move onto the next one. Pediatric Trauma was often ‘monkey wrench’. Really hard to roll stretchers to the side of infants, < 5 year old children and their siblings for the next customer. In medical gig #2 the "closeness" relative to the individual” was often much more complicated and complex. Working with people and their husbands, wives, children, Moms & Pops ….. while guiding ‘customers’ to Actively Live … while they and I knew they were Actively Dying … amplifies the "closeness" factor … logarithmically. “The dog associated with the individual is a close companion, it is loved and it loves back. The person sees the dog constantly each day and there is bond that is formed which is almost as primal as it is intellectual. It has a name…..” After all these decades of Work / Life / Death experiences, I can validate the school of thought that “… caring is proportional to the "closeness" relative to the individual… ” World would be a much better place if we treated others the way the way we would treat ourselves... or our dogs. Peace, Buzz Don’t even get me started on our animal companions….
  20. Staggering amount of maps! This gives Black Sea a formidable benefit and value not only for Q.B.s but for folks learning scenario design. Plenty of maps to practice with vs AI.
  21. I popped in the Windows SSD with CMSF and got distracted playing a 7+ yo CM game The PC side has Rez Explode. Black Sea is going to be Game Engine 3.0 Might be better to ask someone with a newer CM 3.0 version if their Rez Explode works on newer BRZ files.
  22. My Hackintosh can play both OS with the switch of an SSD sled. I purchased CMSF PC so using a Battlefront "Rez Explode" should work for the Mac side. I would have to check it. As MikeyD notes... installing other people's mods is not difficult on the Mac.
  23. Good for family and thanks from us. 100% agree.
